Extended Summary

Nikau meets Felicity and Tane down the beach, where they ask his help taking a photo of them for the wedding invites. Nikau offers to find a professional photographer but they ask him to take a photo himself. Nikau is bemused but takes several shots. That evening, Roo arrives back at the Diner and tells Alf, Irene and Marilyn that she felt really good helping out at the community kitchen. Irene says Leah sent lots of pictures. Alf tries to get Roo to pace herself. Cash and Rose come in. Rose orders a takeaway while Cash gets a text and says his foster father’s on his way to town. Irene says she thought Cash got on with him. Cash says he does but Felicity doesn’t know he’s coming, so asks them not to say anything.

Xander and Stacey are in bed. Stacey comments on the lack of decoration and Xander calls himself a minimalist. Stacey suggests he’s mysterious and wonders if his tattoos mean he was in prison. Xander says he’s not a bad boy but Stacey says there’s a story there. Xander agrees but says it’s a long one. As they get down to business again, Rose comes into the flat and quickly clocks the noises from the bedroom and the fact that Stacey’s fleece is in the dining area. She hurriedly grabs her coat and heads back out.

At the surf club, Cash and Nikau are playing pool while Tane and Felicity look over the photos. Nikau says to choose which one they like then he’ll use it to make up the invitations. Cash suggests Felicity focus on the guest list and Felicity suggests he focus on hearing that she’s invited everyone she wants to. Cash wins the game and sends everyone else upstairs as Rose arrives. She explains about Xander having company and Cash invites her to join them.

Stacey is getting dressed. Xander suggests she stay, offering to make her breakfast. Stacey is tempted but says she has an early shift and needs to get some sleep. Xander insists on walking her to the door where they kiss goodbye. Next morning, Nikau shows Tane and Felicity the wedding invitation he’s put together. They are delighted and Felicity says she’ll get it to the printers. Nikau says Gemma will need to make arrangements. Tane mentions the guest list and Cash again tries to get Felicity to invite Gary, saying he was an important part of her life. Felicity retorts that he was an important part of Cash’s and disappears into her room.

Cash heads outside, just as Gary is pulling up, with a ute on a trailer behind his own vehicle. Cash says they were meant to meet at the surf club and Gary wryly says he’s driven six hours to see Cash. Cash explains the ute is meant to be a surprise so they need to get it out of sight. Gary realises Cash is lying, saying he has the same look on his face as when he claimed the kitten in his backpack followed him home, and realises Felicity doesn’t know he’s coming. He laments that he thought things were going to be different. Cash says they still can be, but Felicity needs some space. He convinces Gary they should take the ute to the garage and then get breakfast.

Xander runs into Rose on the beach and notes she left early. Rose says she didn’t want to run into any unexpected guests. Xander invites her to wind him up or ask questions but Rose says she told him to go out and have fun so she’s glad he did. She says she’s going out tonight so he can have the place to himself.

At the Diner, Cash has introduced Gary to Irene, Roo and Marilyn. Marilyn says Cash didn’t tell them his foster dad was handsome and Gary thanks Irene for looking after Cash. Gary and Cash sit at a table and Gary notes Summer Bay has the same sense of community as home before asking why he’s there. Cash says he does think Felicity would appreciate having the ute restored (which Gary agrees with), but is also hoping Gary and Felicity can talk. Gary asks what’s different this time and Cash says they are.

Felicity complains that Eden called wanting to drag her round wedding dress shops in Yabbie Creek. (Nikau is shocked that there’s more than one.) Felicity wonders if she can get married in swimmers and Tane says he’s wearing a suit. He asks her about what Cash said about Gary. Felicity says Cash should respect her decision and she isn’t going to have any regrets. She calls Eden back.

Irene serves Cash and Gary. Alf comes in and is introduced to Gary, who says he isn’t sure how long he’s around for. Alf checks on Roo and Marilyn at the next table. Cash tells Gary about Felicity having her own business and being happy with Tane. Gary reminds Cash there were reasons Felicity left as soon as she was able to and never came back. Cash thinks it was because she was in denial about their father. Gary says he’ll talk to Felicity if she agrees but Cash doesn’t think she will. Gary thinks in that case they should let it go, and it’s not up to Cash to fix things.

At the surf club, Tane tells Stacey that he had good feedback for her first class. Xander approaches Stacey and asks if she has plans for tonight. Stacey admits she already has a date arranged with someone else. Meanwhile, Cash and Gary are walking near the beach and comment on the differences with the river back home. Gary says it’s been good catching up with him. Cash says Felicity was there for him and tries to get Gary to come back to the house. Gary doesn’t think Felicity’s ready for a big family reunion and it would be best for her to come to him. Cash tries to convince him to make the first move.

Down on the beach, Stacey tells Xander she does like him. Xander is bewildered at how that fits in with having a date with someone else. Stacey says she doesn’t believe in only dating one person and would have told him last night if they hadn’t got carried away. Xander says he’s not saying no. Stacey gives him time to decide if he’s okay with it.

At the Diner, Marilyn suggests to Roo that they could run courses in writing resumes but worries the kids might not have work experience. Roo suggests internships and Marilyn suggests free tutoring. Xander comes in, briefly acknowledges Irene and joins Rose, who suspects he has blown things with Stacey. Xander explains about Stacey seeing someone else and isn’t sure if he’s going to see her again or not. Rose is surprised that he’s leaning towards doing so.

Cash shows Gary around the Parata house and explains about living there with Felicity, Tane and Nikau. Felicity comes in and stops short at the sight of Gary. He awkwardly greets her and she asks Cash what he’s doing there. Gary leaves the house and runs into a bemused Tane. He explains who he is and about Cash inviting him down, saying it went as well as you’d expect. He notes it’s not the first time Felicity’s told him to go to hell and probably won’t be the last: He’s going for a walk to give Cash and Flick space.

Felicity asks Cash how he could ambush her. Cash denies that’s the case but Felicity says he never listens to her. Tane comes in and confirms he met Gary. Cash tries to get him to convince Felicity to talk to Gary but Tane says Cash is on his own and suggests he and Felicity go for a walk. Felicity angrily says Cash always thinks he knows what’s best for her and Cash says he’ll give her some space.
