Justin goes into damage control for Lyrik. Can Cash and Eden resist temptation? Felicity gets buried in Mackenzie’s mess.
Extended Summary
Kirby and Theo are singing a new song in a park area. Felicity overhears and applauds them. She asks if they’re going to sing it tonight but they say it’s not ready. Felicity says she’ll tell Mackenzie they’re working on new material. Theo wonders when they should show it to Eden and Remi. Kirby suggests they talk after the gig.
At the Morgan house, Leah asks Justin to explain what happened. Justin says he followed her advice and negotiated tough, then told Mackenzie to accept the new deal or lose the gig. Leah says ultimatums don’t tend to go over well in business discussions. She asks if she should talk to Mackenzie. Justin is grateful but says he’s the manager and has to fix it.
Cash is playing pool when Felicity arrives at the surf club. She queries him not being at work and quips that he has nothing better to do than play with himself. She invites him upstairs but he declines, somewhat coldly insisting he’s all right. Felicity goes upstairs and chats to Mackenzie about Cash and about Theo and Kirby. Mackenzie says Lyrik won’t be playing there anymore, tearing down the poster and saying Justin put them out of their price range. Felicity protests that Lyrik is their biggest draw. Mackenzie insists that it’s Justin’s fault and it’s up to him to tell Lyrik they’re not playing.
Eden finishes a swim on the beach and runs into Cash. She says she’d have waited if she’d known he was coming but has to go. She asks about him not being at work and he jokes that he’s solved all the crime in Summer Bay. Eden suggests he come to the gig tonight although he says he was planning to spend the night on the couch.
At the Diner, Kirby is trying to come up with ways to improve the song. Theo insists it doesn’t need anything and Kirby says he’s the worst at giving criticism. Leah comes in and sends a server to take coffee beans to the cart. She chats to Theo and Kirby who are still talking about the gig tonight. She asks if they’ve spoken to Justin, and Theo realises he has several messages asking for a meeting. Leah suggests they go and see him.
Theo and Kirby arrive at the Morgan house. Justin suggests waiting for Remi and Eden but Kirby says it could take all night. Justin starts to explain but Kirby gets a text from Tully Dixon saying he wants to come to the gig tonight and she and Theo dream of having a proper piece on all the band. Justin blurts out that there isn’t going to be a gig tonight, explaining Mackenzie’s cancelled all gigs.
At Salt, Felicity says Mackenzie should have consulted her before cancelling Lyrik. Mackenzie says Justin backed her into a corner and she had to make a decision, asking Felicity to support her. Eden appears at the bar and demands to know what’s going on.
Theo and Kirby tell Justin they didn’t ask him to renegotiate their fee. Theo says Salt is their base where their fans come to see them. Justin says they were only being paid mates’ rates and have a big following, adding he was only asking for what they’ll be paid at the Palace. Kirby says the Palace is a one-off, not a regular gig. Justin concludes he needs to find them another regular gig.
Eden pleads for Mackenzie to reconsider and Felicity backs up her argument that the gig tonight has already been advertised and prepared for. Eden says they helped revive Mackenzie’s business. Mackenzie insists Justin is the problem and Eden protests she didn’t even appoint him. Mackenzie walks away and Eden asks Felicity to do something.
Leah watches Justin make a phone call and go out the back. Kirby has had to let Tully know there’s no gig and wonders if they were too quick to let Justin on board. Leah apologises for not telling them earlier. Eden arrives and insists Justin has to go. Kirby has let the socials know they’re not playing. Justin comes back in and Eden says he’s fired, since she never agreed to hire him. Theo says Justin’s made one mistake and arranged a van for them, so give him a chance.
Felicity arrives home and Cash asks why she’s home early. Felicity says not to ask, which he’s happy to do. She tells him her day sucked and he sarcastically asks if she got a cocktail wrong or couldn’t open a tin of peaches. Felicity asks why he wasn’t at work and he says he was told not to come in. He says a complaint has been made about his use of force. Felicity asks if this is the guy that ended up in hospital. Cash asks if it was Rose or Xander who told her and storms out.
Leah thanks Theo for sticking up for Justin. Theo worries that he was too hard on Eden and is in danger of doing what Bob did and taking over. Kirby says he’s part of the band too. Justin comes back in and says the Palace has agreed to host a regular gig at the higher price. Leah tells him to arrange a new deal before giving up the old one next time. He offers pizzas as an incentive to keep him on and says he’ll pick them up himself.
When Cash re-emerges, Felicity asks him what happened. Cash says it was the guy that put Remi in hospital and insists he didn’t hurt him and the guy’s just trying to get a lighter sentence. Felicity says if that’s true it’ll be sorted. Cash asks what she means by “if that’s true”. Felicity suggests he went back to work too early. Cash walks out.
Eden microwaves herself a meal but then pushes it away without eating any of it. Felicity turns up and says she needs to support Mackenzie even though she disagrees with her. Eden tells her to go. Felicity snaps that not everything’s about the band before admitting Cash is in a bad way. Cash is sat at a table at Salt on his own and tells Mackenzie he wanted some space, wondering what happened to Lyrik. Mackenzie says the gig was cancelled. Cash says that’s why the place is dead and he didn’t need that much space, leaving. Justin turns up to collect the pizzas and tells Mackenzie he’s made alternative arrangement for the band. Mackenzie is left regarding the near-empty restaurant in frustration.
Mackenzie arrives home, drops her bag and slumps on the sofa. She looks at her phone and finds several social media posts expressing disappointment at the gig being cancelled and saying they’ll follow Lyrik to the Reefton Lakes Palace. Meanwhile, Eden is preparing to go to bed when Cash knocks on the door and asks to come in. She says she thought he was having a quiet one at home. He replies that he thought she had a gig. Eden notes they’ve both had bad days and Cash says he was hoping to change that. They kiss.
