Extended Summary

Bella and Nikau are walking to the Diner. Nikau isn’t keen on the idea of possibly seeing Chloe there. They run into Marilyn who tells them Chloe isn’t working today. Nikau goes on ahead and Bella chats to Marilyn about him avoiding her. Alf and Martha are at the Diner and Roo joins them. Martha decides that she feels ready to talk to Jesse about getting tested again. At the next table, Nikau comments on Bella not eating. Bella reminds him that he’s spending all his time at hers and sneaking home to get clothes, saying he needs to either move in with her or sort things with Chloe. Nikau leaves.

Alf and Martha are waiting around outside the house as Marilyn arrives back. They tell her that Roo’s on the phone to Jesse trying to arrange an appointment. Roo comes out and says Jesse had a cancellation for that afternoon. At the surf club, John asks Jasmine about Irene, learning she’s busy with Fin laid up. Jasmine says she’ll tell Irene John misses her. John says he’s heard about Jasmine’s brother and sister turning up and asks if her brother’s a qualified lifesaver, since he’s short of people to take shifts. Jasmine gets a call from Xander.

Jasmine meets Xander at the hospital. He says security are checking the cameras for Millie. The ward clerk’s called her parents but she isn’t there. Xander says he’ll get in the car and start looking, with Jasmine offering to go with him. Nearby, Alf, Martha and Roo chat to Jesse about the tests. At the surf club, John tells Nikau to keep an eye out for a rip, since he might need to reposition the flags. He also asks him if he can take some extra shifts. Nikau initially says he has other things to do but eventually agrees.

Nikau positions the flags on the beach. Bella comes along and assures him he’s welcome to stay with her whenever he likes. They see Millie walking out into the sea. Nikau calls out to her and blows his whistle but she keeps on going and lets the waves take her. Nikau strips off and grabs a flotation device, radioing John to say they have a swimmer in distress before heading out after her. By the surf club, Jasmine is reassuring Xander as they see John readying the buggy. He explains the situation and Jasmine introduces Xander, saying he’s a paramedic. John tells him to get on.

Nikau has got Millie out of the water but says there’s no breath or pulse. John and Xander arrive and Xander recognises Millie, starting to give her CPR. Jasmine joins them and also recognises her, explaining she disappeared from the hospital. Xander continues the resuscitation; Nikau notices she’s bleeding and Jasmine suspects she’s broken the stitches from her chest drain. Millie eventually starts breathing but moans it’s not fair, since Jo died. Xander tells her the other driver was at fault. Jasmine doesn’t look pleased.

Jesse explains they need to give Martha an ECG and then run the other tests again. Roo says they’re both up for a fight now. Later, Alf is waiting on his own. The first time the lift opens it’s just a nurse, but Roo, Martha and Jesse arrive back soon after. Jesse says he’ll call them as soon as he gets the results. Roo suggests a cup of coffee and large piece of cake.

Millie is being loaded into an ambulance. Bella and Nikau head down the beach. Xander says he’ll see Millie at the hospital but Millie wants him to come with her. Jasmine tries to tell her that she’ll be looked after but Xander ends up agreeing. John asks Jasmine what the story is. In the surf club, Jasmine explains to John that Millie was the other driver in Logan’s accident and Xander took care of her at the scene. She notes he’s got a soft heart and John realises she thinks he’s too invested. He suggests she talk to him, saying they’re still family.

The doctors are treating Millie as Jasmine joins Xander, who says they’ve ordered a mental health consult. Jasmine chides him for sharing what she said about Logan, saying the police investigation isn’t concluded. Xander insists there’s no problem with Millie and he’ll step back when she’s willing to see family and friends. He gets a text from the Yabbie Creek ambulance service inviting him to another interview. At the Diner, Marilyn chats to Alf, Roo and Martha about the tests. Martha gets a call from Jesse and tells them the surgery’s scheduled for next week.

John has bought Bella and Nikau lunch at Salt and congratulates Nikau on getting Millie out of the rip. After he’s left them, Nikau tells Bella that he needs to get a job that pays. Later, Nikau comes to see John in the office. John wants his help filling out the incident report but Nikau explains he needs to resign. John looks exasperated.

Alf finds Roo outside the house. Roo notes the transplant might actually work out and worries about Alf running the caravan park and bait shop on his own without Ryder being around. Alf says they should enjoy the moment and it’s because of her that it’s happening.
