Extended Summary

Roo runs into Ryder and Chloe outside the Diner and asks Ryder about helping at the bait shop. Ryder says he and Chloe are busy. Roo points out they’re unemployed, which Ryder interprets as being free. Roo wonders what they’re going to do when they run out of money and Ryder says they’ll cross that bridge when they come to it. In the city, Bella has followed Nikau out of the studio and suggests he’s just nervous. Nikau thinks this isn’t him. Bella says it’s an awesome opportunity and Nikau asks if for him or her. Bella admits both but says it has to be Nikau’s choice. Nikau decides to go back in.

Christian and Tori talk about his out of body experience. Tori muses that the brain can fire differently when it’s dying and suggests that since he’s a doctor his brain might have filled in the gaps about the resuscitation. Leah and Justin turn up. Tori and Christian ask about how the doctor went. Justin says great, although his tone suggests otherwise. Christian says they’re getting married in four weeks and Leah and Justin congratulate them. Meanwhile, Jasmine turns up at the Diner and tells Marilyn and Roo that Lewis just didn’t seem himself or to know who she was: His lawyer entered a diminished responsibility plea. She wonders how she missed that he had a problem and decides to go for a run.

Bella and Nikau go back into the studio. Nikau resumes his place and Emmett suggests that Bella give him direction. Sienna doesn’t seem too happy at the prospect but relaxes as Bella gets Nikau to focus on her and loosen up, reminding him of their dance on the clifftop. Eventually, Emmett is able to take over and get Nikau to look at him in the same relaxed manner. Meanwhile, Justin and Leah agree to look after Grace while Christian and Tori go to make wedding arrangements. Once they’ve gone, Justin tries to leave the room but Leah stops him, saying they need to talk about what happened at the doctor’s and insisting she needed to tell the truth.

Ryder and Chloe are relaxing on the beach. Ryder calls it heaven but Chloe notes Roo didn’t think so. She says Roo has a point about them needing to get money which means a job. Ryder says they could win the lottery or find a rich benefactor, dreaming of travelling to Kathmandu. He decides to have a swim first and they head into the water. Jasmine watches them have fun together. Later, the pair head to the surf club and ponder going up to Salt. Chloe notes they haven’t been banned, plus it would annoy Mackenzie, and they head up.

Bella, Nikau, Emmett and Sienna are reviewing the pictures from the photoshoot, which Sienna and Emmett are both enthusiastic about. Sienna says they’ll put together a comp card, a combination portfolio and business card to advertise him, and then wait for calls to come in. Emmett advises Nikau not to wait by the phone. At the Morgan house, Justin tells Leah it was his place to tell the doctor about his double dosing. Leah agrees and wonders why he didn’t. She insists the doctor needs to know if there’s a problem with his medication and says Justin didn’t do it on purpose. Justin quickly backs off and apologises, asking her not to tell Tori.

Tori and Christian arrive at the surf club. Christian understands that Tori finds his experience weird and Tori admits it doesn’t fit with her view as a doctor. Jasmine comes in but dismisses questions about the hearing, heading into the gym. Christian asks Tori to get food from upstairs while he goes to talk to her. Jasmine laments the fact that Lewis will spend ten to fifteen years in a psych jail. Christian asks about her finding him and if his heart definitely stopped. Jasmine confirms it did and mentions that she left during the resuscitation. Christian knows she wanted to put the pads on and Tori told her to leave, explaining he heard it. Jasmine believes him, saying she’s heard other patients say the same thing. Tori appears with the food and she and Christian leave.

At the Parata house, Bella and Nikau are relating their experience at the photo shoot to Ryder and Chloe. Nikau isn’t convinced he’ll get any work. Bella answers the door and comes back with a basket, saying it’s from Sienna. It contains a $300 bottle of champagne and a note congratulating Nikau on getting his first job. Chloe asks if they can open the champagne. Bella gets a text from Emmett saying he’s looking forward to seeing her next week. Some time later, Ryder and Chloe are relaxing behind the house. Chloe notes she’s been working out how much a sip costs and it’s more than they have. They accept that, despite how good the day’s been, they need to get jobs.

Justin gets off the phone and tells Tori and Christian that not only has Brody agreed to them having the wedding at the vineyard but he’s also said he and Simone will do the catering. Tori isn’t sure, since he’s supposed to be a guest, but Justin says he insists, plus Raffy’s excited. Tori asks Leah to be her maid of honour and she happily accepts. Christian goes outside and Tori follows him. Christian says he’s a bit overwhelmed thinking about what could have happened and it’s hard not to see things differently: He wants to know what it all means.

Jasmine turns up at the Diner looking for Irene, and Roo and Marilyn offer to chat instead. Jasmine wonders if they believe in life after death, like seeing the light before you die. Roo notes Marilyn does tarot and Marilyn offers Jasmine a reading, producing her cards and admitting she carries them with her all the time. Later, the three of them have the cards laid out and Jasmine cuts them, noting she’s asked when things are going to get better. Marilyn says the cards represent her past, present and future. Jasmine draws the Tower card and is shocked at how violent it looks. Marilyn admits it can represent drama, trauma or death. Jasmine says she doesn’t want to go any further if they’re going to be that accurate and quickly leaves.
