Extended Summary

Ari and Mia are walking to the surf club together. Mia tells Ari she’s going to be hard on him during his physio and also worries about how Jasmine’s going to react to seeing her at work for the first time. Ari says she’s doing a good job, like him with the bike, seemingly his favourite topic of conversation at the moment which they chat about for a bit. He reassures Mia and they kiss. At the Diner, Irene serves Christian, Tori and Jasmine who are sitting in uncomfortable silence. Christian reminds Tori and Jasmine of everything they’ve been through together and says they’d all have handled things differently if they’d known better, recalling hitting Lewis. Jasmine muses that if she hadn’t been so focused on imagining a future with Lewis she might have picked up on things. Tori eventually acknowledges she let Lewis cause her to doubt Christian. Jasmine says she still feels responsible but Christian says she’s not and Tori agrees.

At the Diner flat, Nikau is stressing out about his meeting with the modelling agent and tries to get Bella to go with him. She thinks she can’t help and they’re not expecting him to bring a friend, plus she has her assignment to do. Nikau says he’ll go, apparently expecting her to change her mind. She eventually asks him if he’s going to go wearing his bait shop clothes. Nikau takes her point but isn’t sure what to wear. At the gym, Mia helps Ari with his physio, then kisses him just as Jasmine comes in. Mia says she doesn’t treat all the clients like that and Ari gives her an endorsement. Mia says it’s good to meet her in a professional sense and Jasmine invites her into the office for a chat.

Nikau emerges from his room smartly dressed (with his shirt undone) and asks Bella’s opinion but she tells him she prefers his blue shirt. Ari comes home and Bella tells him to tell Nikau to wear his blue shirt. Ari does, then asks why. Bella tells him about Nikau’s meeting with a modelling agent and Nikau insists he’s going to say no. Bella departs and Nikau admits he’s out of his depth. He wonders where the blue shirt is and Ari suggests he try the laundry. Nikau heads to Salt (wearing blue) and looks around, confused. A woman waves to him and introduces herself as Sienna Blake from SLM Management. Nikau refuses her offer of champagne so she orders him a mineral water. Nikau flounders a bit making conversation. Ari appears and introduces himself, asking if he can sit in. Sienna is fine with it.

At the Diner, Irene brings Christian a coffee, saying it’s on the house to thank him for helping out Jasmine and Tori. Christian says what happened isn’t Jasmine’s fault and she helped save his life. Tori arrives, having apparently been sorting things with Jasmine, and admits she’s still struggling with everything. Christian suggests they go for a walk. As they walk on the beach, Christian admits that some days are a struggle and Tori admits she can’t stop thinking about seeing Christian nearly die. Christian tries to reassure her with the fact that he didn’t and points out Lewis has gone now. He suggests that, since Marilyn has Grace for the day, they have a picnic on the beach.

Sienna compliments both Ari and Nikau on their looks. Ari asks what exactly she’s offering. Sienna produces a contract to sign with her agency and offers Nikau a photo portfolio, media training and styling. Nikau isn’t keen but Sienna is determined not to miss out on “the next big thing”. Soon after, the three of them descend the steps from Salt. Sienna gives both Ari and Nikau her card and says to call her if there’s anything they need to talk about, encouraging Nikau to take the deal.

Ari and Nikau meet with Mia and Bella outside the surf club, with Mia being filled in on what’s going on, including Nikau being offered a contract and Sienna being interested in Ari. They admit Nikau has said neither yes or no, mainly because she threw in an internship with a photographer for someone up and coming: Bella. Nikau and Bella head back towards the Diner, with him explaining that Sienna made it sound great and he didn’t want to say no without discussing it with Bella, since it’d mean her losing out on the job opportunity. Bella says he has to do what’s right for him.

At the Diner, Irene serves Ari and Mia. Mia thanks her for getting her the gym job. Irene says she knows a good worker when she sees one and Mia notes she also gets on well with Jasmine. Ari says it’s good to see her happy and they kiss just as Jasmine comes in again. After teasing them for a bit and calling them a cute couple, she joins Irene and notes she and Tori exchanged apologies and hugged and cried: She thinks they’re back on track and also thanks Irene for hiring Mia. Meanwhile, Tori is asleep on the beach and has a dream about finding Christian and trying to resuscitate him. She wakes up and goes into a panic when she can’t immediately see Christian. When he appears, she’s relieved that he’s alive.

Bella and Nikau go up to the flat with Nikau reiterating that he couldn’t say no without talking to her. Bella asks who the photographer was anyway and Nikau says it was Emmett someone. Bella looks up “Emmett photographer” on her phone and is stunned to discover that Emmett Ellison is both successful and talented. She repeats that it’s up to Nikau whether he wants to do it but can’t resist looking again. Later, at the Parata house, Nikau tells Ari and Mia that he’s going for the offer. He notes he never wanted to work at the bait shop long-term anyway, despite Mia saying he likes working there and wondering if he’d do it without Bella’s internship. After he’s left to meet Bella, Mia asks Ari if he knows Nikau doesn’t really want to do it. Ari does but says it’s up to him and either it’ll work out or not.

Christian tells Tori he’s put Grace down. Tori is still upset about what happened, saying she keeps thinking about what if she hadn’t worked out where Christian was or arrived a minute later. Christian assures her that he’s fine and she saved his life, and Lewis isn’t coming back. Later, Tori says she’s out of tears. Christian is fine with it and suggests they set a date for the wedding, since there’s no reason to wait. Tori agrees and they celebrate and kiss.
