Colby’s reality starts to sink in. With so much unknown, accusations come thick and fast. Ziggy tries to be there for both Bella and Dean.

Extended Summary

Alf makes his way through the police cars outside the bait shop and runs into Jasmine, who tells him about Colby’s arrest. Colby is escorted out by Angelo and other officers, trailed by a crowd including Bella, Mackenzie and Taylor. Murray is waiting outside and tells Angelo they have the warrant to search the flat. Bella keeps protesting that they can’t take Colby, while Angelo invites Colby to add resisting arrest to the charges. He ends up bundling him into the car while Mackenzie promises Bella they’ll call Dean and Willow. At the surf club, Willow is watching Dean unpack a delivery at the board shop. She tries to gee him up over the fact his job is going well but Dean says it’s the only thing that is. Willow suggests they grab dinner later but Dean then gets a call about Colby’s arrest.

Ziggy runs into Dean and Willow outside. They tell her what’s happened and that they’re going down the station. She says to keep her posted. Angelo brings Colby into the police station with Bella and Mackenzie in hot pursuit. Bella tries to stop Colby being taken into the interview room and Mackenzie has to hold her back. Angelo and Murray commence the interview but Colby refuses to say anything. Willow and Dean join Bella and Mackenzie and they discuss that Angelo seemed to enjoy arresting Colby. Mackenzie thinks the police can’t hold him for long, since he’s innocent and there’s no evidence. The others naturally are less confident.

At the Diner, Alf and Irene discuss how public Angelo made the arrest and how he wouldn’t act without evidence. Nikau comes in and asks if they’ve seen Bella. They explain about Colby’s arrest. At the police station, Angelo concludes that Colby’s wasting their time and ends the interview. Nikau joins Bella and the others. Colby is photographed, then brought out in front of his friends where his jacket, belt, shoes and keys are confiscated. Bella repeatedly says he promised her it would be all right. Colby looks at her but doesn’t answer as he’s led away.

Angelo joins Bella and Nikau in the interview room and tells Bella she can see Colby. Nikau calls Gemma and tells her they’re not going to make the flight. Willow and Dean encourage Mackenzie to go and she says she’ll talk to Ari. Once alone, they debate what Angelo might have found out. In the cell area, Colby tries to get Angelo to tell Bella he’ll be released soon but Angelo says he didn’t even need to let her see Colby. Once Angelo’s gone, Colby tries to interrogate Bella about who’s spoken to the police but Bella insists none of them would. Colby backs off and tries to assure her everything will be all right.

At the Diner, Jasmine is insisting to Irene that they have to do something to help Colby and wonders if she should call one of Robbo’s old fed contacts for help. Irene says that Angelo wouldn’t have arrested him without reason and suggests they sit and wait for further information. At the surf club, Mackenzie updates Ziggy on the fact Colby’s in a holding cell. She says that Colby’s no angel and treated Ari’s family badly but can’t believe he’s a murderer. Ziggy pretends to agree with her.

Bella rejoins the others in the reception area. Dean asks to see Colby as well but Angelo says there’s been enough of his fan club through. Willow convinces the others they should go. As they do, they pass Taylor and Bella has a go at her, blaming her for Colby’s arrest. Taylor doesn’t respond, instead going to the office and telling Angelo she’s going to see Colby. Angelo tells her to knock herself out. Taylor is shown through to the cell area. Colby asks if it was her. Taylor says what if it was and notes maybe he’s where he deserves to be.

Dean, Willow, Bella and Nikau are walking near the surf club. Bella says she can’t go to New Zealand now and Nikau says he’ll stay with her. Dean tries to get rid of Nikau but Bella insists he stay, saying he knows everything. Dean angrily grabs Nikau and accuses him of being the one who told the police about Colby. The others separate them as Mackenzie and Ziggy appear. Mackenzie escorts Bella and Nikau away. Ziggy asks Dean how he is but Dean thinks she doesn’t care. At the Diner flat, Bella, Nikau, Ziggy and Mackenzie observe the mess from the police search. Ziggy and Mackenzie suggest it can be tidied easily but Bella doesn’t want to stay there. Nikau says Ari and Tane want them to stay away from his. Ziggy suggests the couple stay with them and Mackenzie agrees, noting they’re already packed.

Taylor asks Angelo what he said to Colby to make him think she put him there. Angelo suggests that’ll be the last time she sees Colby and Taylor retorts that she doesn’t want to see either of them again. Angelo goes to Colby’s cell and tells him the time’s been set for him to see the magistrate, so he should get a lawyer. He says he’ll be opposing bail, considering Colby a flight risk, meaning he’ll be held on remand until the trial unless he wants to confess. Colby protests that remand would be a death sentence for a cop. Angelo says he should have thought of that.

Mackenzie leads Bella and Nikau from the Diner, assuring them they can stay as long as they want, even though they’re not sure how long that will be. Jasmine appears and she and Mackenzie both pour scorn on the idea of Colby being guilty, saying the truth will come out. Bella and Nikau look awkward. On the balcony of Salt, Dean is telling Willow he’s thinking of going to the police and handing himself in. Willow says he’d be throwing himself under the bus for nothing and Colby promised to keep him out of it, although neither trust him at the moment. Willow says Dean has people that love him. Dean says he’s lost Jai and Ziggy, so staying loyal to Colby might be the only thing he has left.

Irene and Willow chat at the Diner. Irene tries to reassure Willow, saying Angelo might have got it wrong. Willow asks her to check on Bella. She then meets Ziggy outside the surf club and tells her about Dean considering turning himself in. Ziggy makes to go but Willow insists that Ziggy still loves Dean. Ziggy says she broke up with him because she couldn’t condone what he did. Willow asks her to help.

Dean is alone in the flat. He goes to the fridge and finds the photo of Jai on the floor, pinning it back up. There’s a knock on the door: It’s Ziggy. Dean says he thought she’d be the police. Ziggy asks what he’d have done if she was. She says she still cares, so he shouldn’t do whatever stupid thing he’s thinking of doing.
