The thought of losing Dean to prison forces Ziggy to admit her feelings. The path to romance remains rocky for Tori and Christian. Martha is finally honest with Alf.
Extended Summary
Justin and Leah are arguing over getting a takeaway with Leah insisting Justin can’t have a salad the day before radiotherapy. Tori appears dressed up for a dinner with Christian; Leah compliments her on her appearance but Justin is reluctant to follow suit and cringes at Tori telling them to make themselves scarce if she brings Christian back. However, Tori then gets a call from Christian, who has been called into work because of an emergency. She goes to her room, where she has a bucket of champagne set up, and removes her earrings and make-up. Meanwhile, Ziggy is telling Dean that Colby’s in jail because he did a bad thing, and even though Dean did as well, he doesn’t deserve to be in there. Dean reminds her she broke up with him because of it. He thinks he can protect Colby if he’s in there with him. Ziggy argues they might not be in the same prison. Dean says he’s lost everyone and there’s nothing for him on the outside. He adds that he misses her. Willow interrupts at that point and Ziggy tells Dean to sleep on it.
Next morning, Roo and Martha come across Alf outside the bait shop. They invite him to join them for breakfast but Alf says he’s already eaten. Martha heads into the Diner. Roo asks Alf why Martha has to give up her house in Merimbula. Alf says she doesn’t, but he wants to know why she needs to hang on to it. Dean and Willow come down from the flat and explain they’re on their way to visit Colby. Roo heads inside and joins Martha, with Marilyn serving them coffee. Martha asks if Alf and Roo had a nice chat. Roo says there was nothing nice about it and tries to get Martha to talk to him. Nearby, Irene is telling Justin and Leah about Colby’s arrest. Justin is heading off to hospital and insists on driving himself.
Tori is taking Grace for a walk near the beach. She tries to hide when she sees Christian but he spots her and comes over. The motorcyclist he treated is all right. He suggests they join him for breakfast and Tori is charmed when he says she looks perfect. Later, they are eating at Salt. Christian tries to get Tori to have dinner with him that night. Tori points out he’s worked a double shift and says he should spend the day in bed (on his own, she quickly adds). Christian thinks he should stay up and have an early night, which Tori points out rules out dinner. Christian says in that case Tori will have to keep him awake.
Ziggy is waiting at the surf club as Willow and Dean arrive back from the police station. Dean says Colby’s worried about Bella and Ziggy notes she’ll be worse off if someone else she cares about goes to jail. Willow says Dean’s still not ruled that out. Dean asks again what there is for him. Ziggy says if he goes to prison then they’ll never get back together. Dean asks if that’s possible and Ziggy hesitantly says she doesn’t know before quickly leaving. Willow follows her down to the beach. Ziggy says she messed up giving Dean false hope since she can’t get back with him. She’s beginning to think he was a good person in a bad situation but he still covered up a murder when he should have come clean. Willow notes Dean’s loyal.
Tori has put Grace down and Christian asks her about a birthday cake and theme for the party. Tori is somewhat bemused at him suggesting party games for a one-year-old. She gets a chicken out of the fridge and Christian worries about her cooking again but still convinces her to forget about his early night and let him stay for dinner. At the Diner, Roo accuses Martha of throwing away her marriage over nothing and says Alf is reasonable if you’re straight with him. Martha admits Merimbula is where she heals: She’s doing fine at the moment but thinks it might be because she knows she can go back there. Roo says she has to explain that to Alf somehow.
Ziggy returns to the surf club. Dean says things are clear now. Ziggy says she shouldn’t have opened that door because there really is no going back for them: She wants Dean to make the right choice, but he needs to do it for himself. Dean tells her to go. Willow suggests to him that at least Ziggy still cares. Meanwhile, Martha greets Alf as she and Roo arrive back at the caravan park. Alf gives a curt response and Roo insists the pair talk. Martha tells Alf that the house is a safety net. Alf thinks she’s worried the marriage might not last. Martha starts to walk away but Alf calls her back and apologises, saying he knows she’s trying to be honest.
Leah, Justin, Tori and Christian have finished dinner. Leah insists on doing the washing up while Justin takes Christian to watch the footy. Tori quietly tells Leah to put the plates down. Leah realises her mistake and tells a bewildered Justin they’re going to bed. Alone, Tori and Christian kiss. Justin complains about going to bed early and tells Leah she’d better make it up to him. Tori and Christian go to her room; Tori wants to set the scene but Christian says he only cares about her. As they’re getting passionate, Grace starts crying and Tori has to go to her. Leah is wondering if she should go when Tori brings Grace into their room and asks them to take her. Tori goes back to her room but finds Christian spark out.
