Extended Summary
A bagpipe player plays Amazing Grace as police officers carry Robbo’s coffin. A crowd including Ian, Wendy, Jasmine, Irene, Willow, Roo, Tori, Justin and Grace watch on. Colby falls in line behind the funeral procession carrying a wreath. The mourners and attendants follow the coffin into the church and take their places. Wendy notices an older man sat nearby and waves to him. Irene asks if he’s a family member and Wendy explain he’s Lance’s dad. Jasmine glances over at him as the chaplain starts the service.
At the Diner, Marilyn is cheerily serving customers while John protests that the funeral’s starting. Marilyn eventually says she’s not going. John isn’t impressed that she won’t pay her respects and asks her to tell him the truth. Marilyn simply says she’s not going and doesn’t want to talk about it. John gives up and leaves.
At the hospital, Alex tells Bella she can go home soon. Mackenzie is pleased but Bella is distracted, feeling sorry for Jasmine and Colby, and is disappointed she can’t be there for Colby at the funeral. Alex says Willow’s there and Mackenzie thinks Dean will be too, although Bella can’t imagine him in church. She admits she’s never been to a funeral: Her dad buried her mother without one, and she’s not even sure Colby has been to one, having never talked to him about his dad dying.
Ian steps up to talk at the funeral, saying the last time he made a speech was when Ryan graduated from the police and he embarrassed him by saying he was proud of him. He recalls how at 3am Robbo rang him saying he and Lance were drunk and needed picking up, and how Robbo rambled about how he wanted to protect people. (Throughout, while others react to the speech, Jasmine just sits stony-faced.) Ian says Robbo loved the family that he lost and the one he gained and he keeps imagining he’ll ring up. He breaks down and Wendy comes to his side, as he hurriedly concludes that he’d tell him he’s still proud of him.
Alex finds Marilyn on the pier and is surprised she’s not at the funeral, wondering if it’s over. Marilyn admits she couldn’t go and feels terrible, with Jasmine having lost her husband and Grace having lost her father. Alex says it’s okay not to be okay. Meanwhile, Mackenzie tries to get Bella to eat something. Bella complains about the quality of the food and says she can’t wait until she and Colby can go into Salt. Mackenzie wonders if that’s a possibility and Bella says it is. She worries about Colby being on his own without Robbo and Grace. Mackenzie offers to keep an eye on him if that’s okay with her. Bella says it is. Mackenzie says she’ll get her something from the café. Bella anxiously asks if she’s coming back and Mackenzie assures her she is.
At the church, Colby is now speaking, saying Robbo/Ryan was in a bad place when he first met him and he saw him at his worst and his best: Falling in love with Jasmine and holding his baby. He also recalls working with him to catch those who hurt his family and being with him at the hospital, where his only concern was them being safe. As he talks, Jasmine has flashbacks to her final conversation with Robbo.
At the Diner, Marilyn tells Alex she keeps crying and snapping at John. Alex says it all comes back to her every time she goes into the hospital. Marilyn says Alex seemed so calm and Alex admits she was terrified and hasn’t slept a full night since. She suggests Marilyn talk to John but Marilyn doesn’t think anyone who wasn’t there would understand.
The chaplain announces Robbo’s body will be taken to his final resting place and everyone is welcome to attend. Jasmine suddenly shouts out that he promised he’d never leave her and is a liar. Colby holds her and guides her back to her place. Justin and Tori go up with Grace and place a teddy bear on the coffin. Ian and Wendy place the rose. Jasmine has more flashbacks to Robbo’s last conversations with her and Grace.
The crowd watch outside as Robbo’s coffin is placed in the hearse. Ian and Wendy ask Jasmine if she’s coming with them to the cemetery but Jasmine can’t face it. Colby suggests Ian and Wendy meet them at Salt afterwards where a memorial drink has been arranged. Tori and Justin say a silent goodbye to Jasmine. Jasmine follows the coffin for a few paces, watching it.
Irene, Roo and John join Marilyn at the Diner. Irene and Roo tell her about Jasmine falling apart and how Colby and Willow are trying to get her to come to Salt. John and Roo talk about how Tori and Justin have to do it again with Mason and are leaving tomorrow to meet up with Raffy and Brody. Marilyn asks to go to Salt to pay her respects and speak to Tori and Justin. John agrees.
Justin and Tori are talking with Willow and Alex at Salt; Colby took Jasmine home. John and Marilyn turn up as Willow is asking about Mason’s funeral. Justin explains about the memorial halfway between them and Brody and Raffy. Marilyn asks if she and John can go, so she can tell them how brave Mason was. Alex and Willow also ask to come. Justin and Tori agree.
Colby and Jasmine turn up, having got changed, and are greeted by Ian and Wendy. Colby talks to Mackenzie about her spending the day with Bella. Mackenzie says Bella sent her to keep an eye on him. Ian and Wendy tell Jasmine they have to leave for the city for Lance’s funeral but she’s welcome any time at the farm and can call them if she needs anything. They also tell Tori that they’re pleased to have met her. Tori says she’ll do everything she can to raise Grace the way Robbo wanted and keep his memory alive. Ian calls everyone’s attention, thanking them for looking after Robbo and proposing a toast to him.
Jasmine heads out onto the balcony and Colby follows. Jasmine wonders why Robbo sent her away, when she could have got his things any time. She also thinks it makes no sense that Robbo and Scott died in an accident at the same time as Lance’s murder and the hospital siege. Even though Lance’s dad came to the funeral and Robbo’s parents are going to Lance’s, Scott’s family aren’t there and no-one’s mentioned him since the accident. She thinks Colby is keeping something from her.
