Has the Ouroboros gang given Robbo a lead? With Ben unable to help, Maggie takes over. Raffy can’t cope with everyone doting on her, but can she survive without them?
Extended Summary
Scott is trying to convince Jasmine to leave the hospital but she wants to finish her shift. A trauma patient is brought in and Jasmine goes to help: It’s the man who was dumped earlier. The doctor asks Jasmine to join them, assuming Scott is her boyfriend. Jasmine introduces herself and the doctor reciprocates: She is Dr Alex Neilson, the new head of the ED. Alex says the patient has been beaten and has no ID, adding the police will have to be notified. Looking at Scott, Jasmine says they already know. Alex notes signs of internal bleeding and says he’ll have to be taken to theatre but then he crashes and they start resuscitation. At the motel, Robbo gets a call from Scott and tells him to drag Jasmine there if he has to. Then he hears Scott’s news and says he’s on his way.
Alf greets Ben as he passes his caravan. Ben helps Alf with a gas canister. Alf notes he spoke to Maggie earlier and she’s worried. Ben thinks it’s better that he’s there for now. He gets a message from Maggie and Alf encourages him to answer it. Soon after, Ben finds Maggie on a park bench. She notes she wasn’t sure he would come; he reminds her she said it was important but she isn’t sure of his priorities. She says the bed felt empty without him and she misses him. Seemingly ignoring the declaration, Ben asks what the real estate agent said. Maggie produces some papers and says they’ll go through them together.
Mason, Marilyn and Raffy have met at the Diner to discuss possible solutions. Mason has been talking to advocacy groups trying to find a trial for her. Justin arrives as Marilyn is noting she’s been looking for natural therapies to help Raffy relax and needs to consult with Mason on how they’d affect her normal medication. Justin thinks Tori would have thought of that if it helped but Mason replies that the only thing that’s worked – cannabis oil – is natural. Raffy tunes out the conversation, then tells them to be quiet and runs out. Later, Justin joins her on the wharf, referring to himself as the idiot. Raffy notes she’ll never be normal: She’ll never drive a car, or swim or surf on her own, and is a ticking time bomb. She adds last time they tried to help her Mason nearly went to jail. Justin says that’s not her fault and now they’re all working together so no-one does anything daft.
Alex declares the patient dead and says it’s one for the coroner. Jasmine rejoins Scott who says they’re holding on for a bit: She finds out why moments later when Robbo turns up. After giving Jasmine a hug, he asks about the patient. Jasmine takes them to the body and Alex overhears her asking about Tori. Jasmine tells her the pair are federal police: They show her their IDs and explain they don’t know who the patient is but think he’s connected to an active investigation. They ask for a moment alone and Alex and Jasmine leave. Robbo searches the man and finds a phone. Alex asks Jasmine what’s going on. Jasmine admits Scott is her bodyguard and Robbo is her husband. Alex asks about Tori, who she knows she’s replaced, and Jasmine explains she’s in protective custody. Alex thought she was on maternity leave and Jasmine confirms she’s also pregnant. Alex comments on the sleepy little town she’s come to.
Ben and Maggie are sat outside the Diner going over papers. Maggie thinks the offer they’ve had is the best they’re going to get but wants Ben to be okay with it. Looking at the papers in slight confusion, Ben says he’s not made the best choices lately and it’s her call. In a room at the hospital, Robbo and Scott play an audio file on the phone, which shows Des interrogating the man. The man says he didn’t know it was their territory and Des laughs about how they thought he was the brains of the operation. The man doesn’t know how to contact his boss since it’s always the other way round but confirms it’s Dylan Carter. Robbo realises he is alive. He and Scott tell Jasmine they have to leave. She tells Alex, who accepts they can’t tell her everything but does want an explanation some time.
Maggie watches as the estate agent pastes an “Under Contract” sign over the “For Sale” one. Alf joins her and expresses his regret, saying the Astonis are the best landlords they’ve had. He asks if Ben knows and decides to go and check on him. He finds him at the caravan park. Ben says that’s their nest egg gone along with everything else. Alf says he’s still got his family. Ben says not if he goes to jail, since he wouldn’t want them visiting him. Alf doesn’t think he could stop them. He invites Ben to the house for a feed, saying they could both use the company, and Ben agrees.
Robbo, Jasmine and Scott are back at the motel. Scott notes at least they have evidence now if they ever catch anyone and leaves to update Lance. Jasmine thinks they should go back to the safe house but Robbo refuses to let go of the case, saying now he’s got a chance to find Dylan. At the Diner, Raffy rejoins Justin, Mason and Marilyn. They tell her Justin’s agreed to be quiet this time. However, Raffy wants them to stop. She says that she’s not necessarily going to leave school but she’s not going to worry about having another seizure anymore because she knows she will have one, and doesn’t want them to do anything.
Next morning, Raffy goes down to the beach. She looks out to sea for a moment, then strips down to a swimming costume and swims out, smiling. At the motel, Jasmine wakes up and finds herself alone. In the evidence room, Scott gives Robbo the dead man’s file which he got from Lance. He was Sean Coulson, a low level criminal with links to organised crimes. Charges against him tended to get dropped, probably because Dylan tended to be the arresting officer. Jasmine joins them and Scott leaves. Robbo notes that he thought things ended on the boat. Jasmine thinks he should be glad he didn’t kill Dylan but Robbo reminds her what happened to his family. Jasmine checks he intends to hand Dylan over to the AFP, recalling the other criminals are after him too. Robbo simply says he’ll do whatever it takes to keep his family safe.
Justin runs into Mason on the beach and asks if he’s seen Raffy today; they both hope she’s all right. People are standing at the edge of the sea pointing and they eventually realise why: Raffy is in trouble. Both of them run towards the water with Justin heading out on his surf board. Raffy flounders about and goes under…
