Robbo plays a dangerous game with the enemy. Ziggy struggles to cope with her fractured family. Mackenzie pushes Dean in an unexpected direction.
Extended Summary
Dean and Mackenzie are coming back from a surf. Mackenzie protests that the waves were brutal but Dean says she needs to practise moving onto her back foot at the lip of a wave. He suggests they try again but she points out that she has a restaurant to run and he has a job to go to. She asks him about which job would be his dream and Dean notes that the police shut it down. Meanwhile, at the motel, Robbo leafs through a death certificate and autopsy report. He gets a series of texts saying to come to Salt at 10am and not to try anything because there are eyes everywhere. The last message is a photo of Jasmine at work.
Ben makes a drink in his caravan before going outside, although he only takes a few gulps before giving up and throwing it away. Alf appears with some extra towels and invites him up to the house for a proper cuppa but Ben declines. After Alf has gone, Dean appears and is somewhat bewildered to see Ben there, saying he was with Ziggy and Maggie all night and they were worried about him. Ben snaps that Dean’s not part of the family and it’s none of his business, going back into the van. At the farm house, Ziggy helps Maggie fold some sheets; Ziggy says she’ll do it after work but Maggie wants to keep busy and worries about Ben’s whereabouts. Dean then calls Ziggy to let her know; Ziggy tells him to go to work and they’ll handle it. Maggie refuses to go and see Ben and thinks Ziggy should go to work, although Ziggy says Justin will understand. Maggie says Ben will come home on his own but Ziggy decides to go and see him alone.
Dean is stocking a fridge at Salt; Mackenzie tells him to help unload a van outside once he’s finished. Dean nearly goes straightaway and Mackenzie has to repeat it. She asks Dean if he’s been offered another job, since something’s clearly on his mind. Dean says it’s not about her but doesn’t want to discuss it, which Mackenzie accepts. Robbo comes in with a file and sits in a corner. Later, Dean brings him a water and asks if he’s ready to order. Robbo says he’s waiting for someone and tells Dean to get back to the customers. Des turns up with a henchman and sits with Robbo, who comments on it being a bit public. He tells Des he has proof Dylan’s dead, handing him the file which he says contains the death certificate and coroner’s report. Des says Dylan’s body was never found but Robbo says it was found drifting in an abandoned boat and hushed up because of the corruption trial. He gets up to go but Des insists Robbo stay while he checks through the file. After a short silent stand-off, Robbo sits down.
Ziggy joins Ben at the caravan park and tells him he should have called them. She tries to get him to come and talk to Maggie but Ben says it’s not that simple. Ziggy asks if he’s just going to sit there all day. Ben confirms he is: He has nothing to do and nowhere to go, and just wants some peace and quiet. Ziggy says she can do that and sits next to him. At the surf club, Roo tells Alf she’s not happy keeping things from Maggie. The problem is solved when Maggie arrives saying she knows Ben’s at the caravan park. Alf notes he wanted to make sure Ben trusted him. He says he spoke to him briefly but he was closed off. Maggie comments that she was just trying to get Ben to get help.
Mackenzie brings Robbo and Des some drinks. Des tries to chat to her as the new owner and Dean steps in, saying to call him if they need anything else. Des tells Robbo he wants to be thorough and continues studying the report. Over at the bar, Mackenzie wonders what it’s about and Dean says with Robbo it’s best not to ask. Back at the caravan park, Ben asks Ziggy if she needs to get to work but she’s already cleared it with Justin. Ben apologises for scaring her yesterday and offers to make a new board but Ziggy says it’s not about that. She begins to accept that Ben isn’t going to come home with her so just says to call them if he needs anything, adding she and Maggie both love him. “Love you too,”replies Ben.
Des finishes looking through the file. He compliments Robbo, saying it looks authentic, but knows it isn’t, since even if it had been covered up, they’d have known if Dylan’s body had been found. Robbo protests that he tried to find him but had nothing to go on. Des realises he really doesn’t know where Dylan is and says they’ve got no use for him, leaving with his companion. Robbo follows them outside, where they’ve been joined by a third man. He suggests to Des that they look for Dylan together: They don’t trust each other but Des must have intel to share if he knows Dylan’s alive. Des and the others drive off, despite Robbo begging them to keep Jasmine out of it. He runs back to his car, calling Scott as he does so and telling him to get Jasmine to safety even if she’s working.
At the farm house, Maggie is on the phone to someone (probably Coco, as she keeps calling them “honey”), saying there’s nothing further to report and the police are investigating. She says Ben’s out at the moment and she’ll get him to call back. After she puts the phone down, she breaks down in tears. Ziggy arrives and Maggie says she just wanted Ben to get help, not to leave. In his caravan, Ben looks at photos of himself and his family on his phone. He brings up Maggie’s contact and hovers over it, then puts the phone down.
Mackenzie comments to Dean on how he picked up on the men with Robbo being dodgy. She asks if it’s to do with the tattoos that he and Colby both have and neither want to discuss. Dean says it used to be a big part of his life but he’s gone in a different direction lately: He found Ziggy, has a decent job and a new sister, and is excited to see where things go. Meanwhile, Robbo arrives at the motel and is concerned that Jasmine and Scott aren’t there. Joe says no-one’s been in or out. Robbo calls Lance, saying he messed up, and tries to get Lance to take Jasmine back to the safe house. At that moment, an unconscious man is dumped out of a car on a country road, with the ouroboros symbol gouged into his chest.
