Extended Summary

Robbo and Ian are preparing to replace a fence. Ian comments on the wedding being back on. Robbo admits he was dirty on Jasmine when he was last there but says they worked through it. He senses that Ian disapproves but Ian says it’s not up to him to tell Robbo how to live his life. Back at the house, Jasmine bring Wendy a drink. She asks what she’s done to upset her. Wendy says Jasmine lied to Robbo, or let Tori do so. Jasmine says she didn’t know until afterwards and kept quiet to protect Robbo. Wendy says losing Lauren and the kids devastated all of them and she hoped never to see Robbo like that again, but he was when he turned up there. Jasmine says she wouldn’t hurt him again but Wendy thinks since she’s done it once she can do it again.

Leah is hurriedly getting dressed. Justin tries to get her to stay and talk but she leaves. Tori comes through from the back and asks what’s going on. Later, Justin has explained to her and notes it seemed to come out of nowhere since he didn’t think they were that serious. Tori asks him if he’s worried how Nina will react. Justin recalls she was nasty to Willow. Tori points out Leah is more mature and together. Justin is worried about rocking the boat. Tori reminds him that he was the one that wanted to get out of the friend zone with Leah and says he needs to decide whether or not he wants to move forward.

Ben re-enters the house and tells Maggie he’s got five boards glassed but he needs to get thirty done. He can’t move them until they’ve dried and he now needs to get to the shop to relieve Dean. Maggie manages to get him to take some food and give her a kiss first. Ben meets Dean outside the surf club and says the boards are curing and he’s no room to work on any more since he was unable to rent storage space. Dean offers to call Scanwell and see if he can be flexible about the delivery date. Mackenzie comes past and she and Dean arrange to meet for lunch. Dean admits to Ben that it’s still weird and he doesn’t know what to say to her.

Mason comes into Salt to collect a takeaway. Mackenzie introduces herself and he notes his brother was the previous owner. Mackenzie thinks he owns the gym but he says he’s just looking after it, although he’s happy to sign her up. After he’s gone, Mackenzie offers Dean a pizza and he asks for beer and burger. Mackenzie gets a text from her mother saying “He’s actually gone and done it.” There is a link to an article about Rick running for parliament. Dean has an unsuccessful phone conversation with Scanwell. Mackenzie shows him the article and he notes it’s another reason to hate Rick but isn’t really bothered. Mackenzie says Rick’s going to be telling everyone he’s a saint. Dean takes the burger to go. Downstairs, Maggie tries to get Ben to eat but he is too busy trying to work out how to do all the boards. Dean rejoins him and says Scanwell won’t budge, insisting on getting all the boards rather than batches.

Robbo is adjusting one of the posts and gets a text which he explains is from Tori. Ian completes his description of her as the woman who’s having his baby. He thinks having a baby with one woman while marrying another isn’t normal but Robbo says there is no normal anymore and it works for them. Jasmine arrives, saying she was getting in Wendy’s way and wondered if she could help them. Robbo suggests she do the staples and Ian gives her instructions. At the gym, Leah is hitting a punch bag and Maggie asks to go on it after her. Leah explains about asking Justin if she could see Ava. Maggie thinks getting involved in her partner’s life is reasonable. Mason (who Leah didn’t realise was present) notes that introducing his girlfriends to Ava has never gone well for Justin.

Mackenzie gets another text from her mum, saying “I can’t believe he’s doing this to us.” Mackenzie calls Rick, saying she’s sorry she hasn’t got back to him (without much sincerity) and that she can’t return his investment/gift because it’s tied up. She adds that she knows things he won’t want advertised. Meanwhile, Robbo, Jasmine and Ian are met by Wendy at the farm house. Robbo senses the tension and realises Wendy said something to Jasmine. He tells his parents that he loves Jasmine, they’ve sorted out their problems and he’s going to marry her. Either they accept that or he and Jasmine aren’t staying.

Leah has called Justin to meet her at the Diner. Leah apologises for being pushy and Justin apologises for the way he reacted. Leah understands, saying she’s a single parent and wouldn’t introduce someone without being serious…which, they realise, is the question. Justin says he wants to move forward with her and will introduce her to Ava. Meanwhile, Mason arrives home and tells Tori work was all right. She admits she forgot to ask Robbo when he’d be back. Leah and Justin arrive and say they’ve sorted everything out before going to Justin’s room. Tori and Mason quickly head outside.

Ben, Maggie and Dean are holding a brief counsel; Ben has no idea how to get the boards done. A quick-dry glass would speed up the process but he’s had bad experiences with them. Dean offers to close up so the Astonis can go home. Mackenzie appears and suggests they meet for dinner later, promising not to mention Rick. Back at the Shaw farm, Jasmine is worried about Robbo’s ultimatum but Robbo refuses to be daunted. Ian and Wendy appear and say they’ve had a talk and cleared out the spare room for them. Wendy offers to do a roast. After checking Jasmine isn’t vegetarian, Ian says he’ll go and slaughter a lamb. Jasmine isn’t sure if he’s serious or not.

Dean and Mackenzie chat at Salt about her not having a surfing lesson yet. Mackenzie notes how different he is to Rick, quickly changing the conversation to him abandoning them both. Dean isn’t interested as Mackenzie complains about him going into politics and showing off his squeaky clean family while pretending they don’t exist. Dean says he’s taking his beer outside. At the farm house, Ben has an unproductive phone call with Scanwell and tells Maggie that he signed a contract, so if he doesn’t deliver on time he’ll have to return the deposit and get taken to court. He hasn’t a clue how to do it despite Maggie insisting that it’s his dream and he’ll find a way.

Mackenzie joins Dean on the balcony at Salt. She tells him she came to town because she intends to bring Rick down and wants Dean to help her.
