Extended Summary

Robbo and Jasmine are cuddling up near the beach, reflecting on going back to reality and saying the last few days have been perfect. Jasmine wants to stay there but Robbo points out they have a wedding to pay for. He says she can tell anyone she wants. At the beach house, Irene blocks Bella’s path as she comes down the stairs, saying she’s not going anywhere until they have a talk about house rules. Bella angrily calls the place a prison and Irene tells her to consider Colby. Jasmine comes in ready to tell her news and is bemused by the scene. Bella uses the distraction to dip under Irene’s arm and rush out.

Raffy is helping Ryder shift some logs at the caravan park, with them discussing Coco’s visit, the CBD trial (which Raffy hasn’t heard about) and Mason’s trial. They see Bella banging on Dean’s caravan door without response and she explains she wants him to convince Colby to let her come home. Roo comes along and suggests Irene might be wondering where Bella is; Bella doesn’t care. Roo reminds Ryder he has a shift at the juice bar. At the Diner, Marilyn thanks Leah for coming in to cover for Irene. She has a picnic basket prepared for John. Leah asks if Raffy’s moving in now Jett’s in the city; Marilyn doesn’t see why not but hasn’t discussed it with Justin, Tori or even John. John comes in, engrossed in a phone call and ignoring Marilyn’s attempts to greet him. He says there’s a lot still to do at Jett’s apartment and he’s trying to arrange internet connection. He finally asks for a coffee.

Irene tries to call Bella but gets her voicemail. Jasmine offers to go and look for her but Irene decides against it. She has filled Jasmine in on the altercation between Bella and Colby and how she convinced him to let her live there. She asks Jasmine what she was going to say when she came in and Jasmine shows her the ring. Irene congratulates her. Back at the caravan park, Roo calls over to Ryder to get to work. Ryder invites Raffy along and they wonder if they should invite Bella, who is leaving a phone message for Dean. Bella complains that he’s probably with Ziggy. They invite her to come with them but she gets a text from Irene and realises Roo told her where she was. Raffy and Ryder try to convince her to give Irene a chance.

John is still not paying much attention to Marilyn as he considers calling Jett or going to the surf club. Marilyn eventually puts her suggestion of walking to the lighthouse and having a picnic but John distractedly says he’s not hungry. Marilyn says Alf and Ben have the surf club in hand but John gets a call from Jett and goes outside. Leah looks sympathetically at Marilyn as she hopefully says that John loves the surf club. Back at the beach house, Irene asks Jasmine for details about the wedding, thinking she and Robbo talked about it while they were away, but Jasmine coyly says they had other things to do. Bella arrives and, after a few curt exchanges with Irene, accepts her offer of food.

At the surf club, Alf is congratulating Robbo when John comes out of the office, complaining that no-one sent out an equipment order. Alf points out that it’s listed in the book. John asks about the lifeguard roster. Alf reminds him he knows how to run the surf club and says it’s in the roster file. At the Diner, Marilyn admits to Leah that she didn’t get a chance to talk to John about Raffy but says it’s understandable that he’s worried about Jett. Alf comes in and wonders if anything’s wrong with Jett, saying John’s being an even bigger pain than usual.

Irene and Bella finish eating. Bella gets up to go to her room but Irene tells her to take her plate into the kitchen and wash it first. Bella says Irene can do both but Irene says people clean up after themselves. Jasmine offers to do it but Irene insists Bella has to. Bella ignores her and goes upstairs. Jasmine realises she didn’t help but Irene isn’t angry with her, saying Bella needs structure and discipline. Jasmine goes to the surf club and suggests to Robbo they spend the evening at his since Colby’s working. Robbo is surprised she’d want to deal with Bella and Jasmine explains that Bella’s at her place now. She notes Irene’s plan isn’t working so far and says she feels sorry for Bella, having to deal with a new house and new rules.

Raffy gives John a hug of greeting at the surf club and Ryder shows him the juice bar profits. He also points to a sign on the counter advertising a new juice. John is angry, saying Ryder can’t change the menu without consulting him. Ryder protests that they had extra berries and he needed to use them. Raffy and a newly-arrived Marilyn try to remonstrate with John but he snaps at them and then walks out. At the beach house, Bella is watching television. Irene goes over and turns it off. Bella turns it back on but Irene takes the plug out, saying there’s no TV until Bella clears her plate (which is still on the table). Bella says she didn’t want to watch it anyway. Irene takes the remote.

Jasmine and Robbo are in his bedroom. Robbo asks her what foster care was like. Jasmine recalls moving from place to place, each of them having their own rules and ways of doing things, and having to deal with all the other kids but says it got better when she found a home and stability. Robbo is impressed at how she’s handled it, even with the counselling. At the beach house, Bella is tapping away on her phone while Irene reads. Bella asks if Irene has to go to work but Irene says she’s home all evening. Leah arrives with food but Bella says she’s not hungry and goes upstairs. Leah anticipates Irene working her magic but Irene thinks Bella’s different, although she’s not giving up.

Marilyn, Raffy and Ryder reflect on John’s outburst. John comes back in but doesn’t approach. Marilyn goes over to him and he admits he was out of line and will apologise to the kids. Marilyn tells him that Jett’s fine. John is still worried something will happen. Marilyn suggests they go home and have a quiet dinner. John asks her to give him a minute but when he’s alone in the office he looks very worried. Next morning, Jasmine wakes up to find Robbo bringing her breakfast in bed. Robbo suggests they look for a place of their own. Jasmine is surprised but agrees.

John is pacing in the Diner. Marilyn chats to Leah and Roo at the counter about how he keeps checking his phone. Leah gives them coffees and Marilyn decides to try and get John something to eat. Alf tries to calm John as he worries that Jett hasn’t called him this morning. Marilyn says he might not even be up but John worries that something might have happened his first night alone and says he never should have left him. When Marilyn tries to convince him otherwise, John snaps that Jett is his son and no-one should tell him how he feels. There is an awkward silence before Marilyn repeats that Jett is John’s son, sounding hurt. John looks embarrassed and walks out.
