Extended Summary

Ziggy turns up at the surf club and asks Willow to get her some beer from upstairs, saying she can’t go up herself because of her cheating husband. Willow refuses to help her write herself off. Dean turns up and asks to speak to Ziggy but Ziggy refuses and walks out. Dean asks Willow to make sure Ziggy gets home. Back at the farm house, Ben and Maggie reflect on having been parents for twenty-one years. Maggie queries Ben leaving Ziggy with Dean, and Ben notes she obviously didn’t want to eat with them. He suggests they celebrate but their kiss is interrupted by Ziggy and Willow, with Ziggy telling them to keep their happy marriage to themselves. Willow explains about Ziggy trying to buy more booze and Dean asking her to get her home.

Jasmine tells Jett she’s going off shift and he thanks her for before. Jasmine finds John and Marilyn in the corridor and convinces them to go in, which Jett agrees to. He says he feels bad about what he said before. Marilyn tells him not to worry and John says they pushed too hard. Jett is sorry for dragging them into it but Marilyn says they want to and John says he’s stuck with them.

Next morning, Willow approaches Dean on the beach and asks what happened with Ziggy. Dean says she was drunk and mad with Brody. Willow says she spent more time ranting about Dean than Brody and predicts she’ll feel rough this morning. At the farn house, Ziggy emerges to join Ben and Maggie, declining breakfast in favour of a coffee. Ben asks her about Dean’s surprise and Ziggy says it was beers, a cupcake and a campfire. She says she’s going to go down the beach and has given herself the day off work. Maggie says she’ll do the same and go with her.

At the hospital, Tori examines Jett’s legs with John and Jasmine in the room. Jett is still getting used to not being able to feel her touching them and isn’t convinced when John says he’ll get used to it. Tori says the physio will be in to give him some goals. At the Diner, Irene gives Marilyn a bag, saying she’s bunged in some extra muffins. Marilyn apologises for yesterday and says she feels more positive, mentioning John spent the night in a chair next to Jett.

At the hospital, Jasmine tells Tori about Jett thinking he’s a burden. Tori says they’ll get him moving today. Jasmine wonders if it’s too soon but Tori thinks they need to give him a taste of independence. Marilyn briefly talks to them before going in, giving Jett a bacon and egg roll and John a yoghurt. Tori comes in with the physio and asks Jett how he feels about a challenge. Jasmine rolls in the chair and Jett looks apprehensive. The physio, John and Jasmine help him into the chair. Tori says he’ll be able to do it himself eventually. She gives him instructions on how to straighten up the chair and move forwards.

Ben joins Dean at the surf club and offers him an extra twenty minutes on his break. He asks him what happened with Ziggy. Dean asks what she said, before saying she had a few drinks and got out of hand. Willow appears and also asks. Dean snaps that Ziggy’s life’s been torn apart and beers and cupcakes won’t fix that.

Jasmine, John and Marilyn give Jett words of encouragement as he tries to use the chair in the corridor, with John suggesting it should be easy after driving a tank. (Jett replies that he’s never done that.) He drives into a doorframe, causing his leg to bleed again, and insists on getting out of the chair. On the beach, Ziggy tells Maggie she doesn’t need her taking her for a walk. Maggie says it’s her job to help her. Seeing Dean approaching, Ziggy tells Maggie they’ll go for cheesecake and tells Dean she can’t talk. Willow asks Dean if he slept with Ziggy and, when Dean doesn’t answer, assumes he did and says she’s his boss’ daughter.

Back in Jett’s room, Tori says his leg should recover and Jett says you can’t hurt what’s already broken. She thinks he should get back into the chair and get his independence. Jett says that he can’t figure out the chair, reach for a glass of water, dress himself or go to the bathroom on his own and his life wasn’t supposed to be like this. In the corridor, Tori tells John and Marilyn that he’s bound to have setbacks and they need to get him back in the chair. John says to leave it to him and goes in to see Jett. He asks what Jett would do if he was on patrol and ran into an obstacle. He says this is no different: He can either give up or fight.

Near the beach, Tori and Jasmine discuss Jett. Tori says he’s got two good parents to help him through it which is more than her baby will have, with Robbo not wanting anything to do with it. She worries she won’t be able to cope on her own. Jasmine says the baby will also have her, plus Raffy and the uncles. At the hospital, Marilyn finds John and Jett using wheelchairs in the corridor. John tips his up onto the back wheels while Jett demonstrates driving his smoothly. He says he set his course and sailed, hoping John appreciates the naval pun. John says he’s buoyed by it.

Ziggy and Maggie walk outside the surf club. Ziggy says she’s done feeling sorry for herself. Maggie acknowledges her life has been turned upside down. Ziggy goes over to thank Willow for helping her. Willow asks if Dean needs sorting out. Ziggy says it wasn’t what Dean did but what he didn’t do. Willow realises he knocked her back, which Ziggy confirms. At the gym, Willow tells Dean that Ziggy told her what happened. She concludes he cares for Ziggy and Dean says she’s a mate. Willow thinks he should talk to her, since she seems embarrassed about it.

Dean approaches Ziggy outside, saying they need to talk. Ziggy says she obviously repulses him, just like she wasn’t good enough for Brody. Ben, Maggie and Willow all walk into earshot as Ziggy says Dean will sleep with anything that moves and Dean retorts that she didn’t want to sleep with him, just to get back. Ziggy walks away. Ben asks Dean if he slept with her and Dean says he didn’t. Ben says they’ll talk later and walks away. Dean tells Willow not to say anything.
