Extended Summary

Colby gives Dean a lift back to town. Dean tries to walk away, saying he just wants to get some food and go back to his van. He says everything’s fine but Colby argues Ziggy isn’t. Dean says no-one makes Ziggy do anything. Back at the Morgan house, Justin catches Brody collecting some headache tablets. Brody explains Ziggy has a headache. Ziggy staggers in, still drunk, and tells Justin they’ll clean the garage and she raided his secret stash, before passing out on the couch. Justin asks Brody what’s going on.

Ryder and Coco arrive back at the caravan park house. Coco is complaining about Raffy lying. Ryder tries to change the subject and suggests they spend the afternoon hanging out and watching a movie. Coco agrees and Ryder goes to get some food. Alf comes in and asks Ryder how the chat went; Ryder insists everything’s fine. At the surf club, John finds Raffy alone in the office and she comments that she’s with all her friends. John says Marilyn filled him in and thinks her and Coco will sort it out. Raffy says it was Ryder too. John suggests Raffy talk to him, saying the alternative is sitting there on her own.

Ben and Maggie have got a text from Coco saying she’s spending time with Ryder: They think that’s the end of it. Marilyn then turns up and tells them there’s a problem. They note they thought it was sorted; Marilyn explains that Ryder and Coco are sorted but Raffy’s left on the outside. Comparing notes, they realise that Coco thinks Raffy and Ryder were talking behind her back and Raffy says Ryder didn’t back her up. Ben and Maggie agree to talk to Coco.

Dean arrives back at the caravan park with his food. Justin is waiting for him and asks what went on. Dean says he did the work and Justin should ask Ziggy about anything else. Justin says that’s hard at the moment. Dean admits he messed up and asks Justin if he’s going to fire him. Justin walks away without answering. Back at the house, Ziggy is still semi-conscious and doesn’t want to get off the sofa. Brody tries to drag her back to the cottage and she ends up ranting that she just got drunk and that’s what people their age are supposed to do, not work double shifts to save up for deposits. Justin arrives in time to hear the speech as Ziggy passes out again.

Ben arrives at the Stewart house to collect Coco, who tells Ryder she’ll see him tomorrow. After she’s gone, Raffy comes in and makes it clear she deliberately avoided Coco. Alf leaves her and Ryder alone. Raffy asks why Ryder didn’t put Coco straight but Ryder thinks it’ll soon blow over. Raffy is frustrated that he doesn’t recognise he’s done anything wrong and leaves. Meanwhile, Ziggy is still passed out. Justin asks Brody if he wants to talk and advises him to let Ziggy sleep it off. Brody says things seemed better now they’re in the cottage. Justin suggests Ziggy’s been under pressure and needed to unwind, but also says Dean did the work and it doesn’t seem to have been his fault.

Coco is bewildered when Ben and Maggie ask her about what’s going on with Raffy. She says she’ll text her and arrange to meet and sort it out. Once she’s out of view, she looks up Raffy’s contact details but then turns her phone off. Meanwhile, Alf asks Ryder how things went with Raffy. Ryder admits they’re not great but doesn’t want to upset Coco. Alf says that’s not a good basis for a relationship.

Dean turns up at the Diner flat during the middle of the night and asks Colby why he always gets the blame for everything: He’ll take it from Justin and Brody, but not Colby. He says he’s been trying really hard but as soon as anything goes wrong, all eyes are on him, and he doesn’t know what to do. He storms out again. “Good chat,”Colby notes. Next morning, Coco approaches John, Marilyn and Raffy at the surf club and apologises for being a cow. Raffy is happy to forget it but once they’re alone Coco coldly asks why she sent Marilyn around. Raffy says she didn’t. Coco says they’ll be friendly around others but otherwise Raffy’s nothing to her, since she’s already shown how good she can lie. When Marilyn rejoins them, Coco is all smiles again.

Colby finds Dean down on the beach and asks if he wants to talk, before apologising for blaming him. He says Dean doesn’t help himself and needs to change his own opinion of himself before other people’s, but they’ll discuss it more after a surf. Nearby, Ryder finds Raffy looking upset. Raffy explains what Coco said. Ryder says it makes sense that she doesn’t want to worry Maggie but Raffy thinks nothing makes sense and he’s just a dumb guy who can’t stand up to his girlfriend. She says she stood up for Ryder but he won’t do the same for her. Back at the Diner flat, Colby remarks that he comes from the same world as Dean and had to work to change people’s opinion of him. Dean tells him about Justin’s offer of an apprenticeship. Colby says it would look good in court but asks if he wants to do it. Dean admits the garage is the best gig he’s had but he’s not sure if he’s still got a job there. Colby adds that if Dean ever turns up in the middle of the night again he should bring beer.

Ziggy wakes up on the sofa and Justin offers her some coffee. He reminds her about her rant at Brody and her reaction indicates it’s come flooding back. She confirms the drinking wasn’t Dean’s idea and Justin notes she owes some apologies. She goes to see Brody at Salt and says she’s sorry for what she did, also making it clear Dean tried to get her to slow down. Brody dismisses it as her being stressed by Maggie and says they should forget about it and she probably doesn’t remember what she said. Ziggy says she does and she meant it: She’s suffocating.

Justin finds Dean at the caravan park and apologises for blaming him, although he also notes Dean and Ziggy need to restock his fridge. Dean asks if he still has a job, then asks about the apprenticeship. Justin agrees to it. Meanwhile, Ziggy follows Brody along the headland. Brody says he’s planning for their future: He’s spent too long drifting not to try and build something. Ziggy says he expects her to fit in with his plans. Brody says if she’s unhappy she should tell him, not hide it and spit it out when drunk. He walks away, saying he’ll sleep in his old room to give her space.
