Extended Summary

Robbo has just finished a swim and runs into Ebony on the beach. She asks if he knows where Colby is but all Robbo says is that he’s not at home. Ebony says she has a shift at Salt. Robbo says he might come in and check on her. Ebony says to make sure he does. (The whole exchange feels like an escalating series of bluffs.) At school, Ryder and Ty ask Roo if they can use the computer lab after class for Ty to help Ryder with his business assignment. Ryder heads off to get food, running into Raffy: They briefly chat about how boring their respective classes are. Raffy goes over to Ty and explains she has a shift at the Diner. She suggests he come and keep her company. Ty says he might if he and Ryder finish in time. Raffy looks like she’s waiting for a kiss before awkwardly leaving without one.

Justin and Colby pull up outside the motel. Justin is on the phone to McCarthy telling him where they are. Colby wants to go straight in but Justin says they need to do it clean and McCarthy can’t know that Colby was involved. However, when they have waited a while with no police turning up, Colby decides to check it out and Justin follows him. They discover a note under the mat saying “Better luck next time.” Hazel rings Justin and says she hopes he appreciated the message. After she rings off, a police car pulls up. McCarthy does not look happy with Justin or Colby.

Ben and Maggie are looking over a brochure of hot rod cars. Ben is shocked at the cost but says they can afford one big expense. Maggie points out there’s also the venue, catering, dress… She asks how many times his daughter’s going to get married and Ben quips that with two and the divorce rate it’ll probably be a few. Maggie thinks it’s important Ziggy gets the day she wants. At Salt, Coco is looking at her tablet while Robbo and Ebony chat at the bar; Robbo ends up inviting Ebony to have lunch at his. Ryder comes in and Coco explains that she’s bridesmaid and Brody and Ziggy went to find the venue leaving her to work out the cake and theme. Ryder offers to help. At school, Roo finds Ty waiting for Ryder.

McCarthy leads Justin and Colby into the station. He insists he has men searching the area for Hazel but wants to know how they ended up there. He takes Justin into the interview room while Colby is left in reception, getting the cold shoulder from everyone. Justin says they got the address from a guy in Mangrove River but says it was just a hunch and the fact Colby knows the town is just a coincidence. McCarthy lets him go with a warning not to get involved again. He tells Colby someone will take his statement. When Colby pushes it, McCarthy says he’s undermined the investigation and broken the terms of his suspension.

Ebony turns up at the Diner flat; she gets a call from Hazel but rejects it. She and Robbo comment on each other’s appearance but then Hazel calls again and Ebony goes outside to answer it. Hazel says that Colby and Justin found her and wants Ebony to meet her but Ebony says it’s not a good time. When Robbo comes out, she says it’s nothing. At the Diner, Marilyn serves a takeaway to Ben, while Alf and John comment on keeping both the bride and her mother happy. Raffy is texting and tells Marilyn she was hoping to spend time with Ty now the rules are relaxed. Marilyn says they didn’t relax the rules so they could have a relationship but because they thought they could trust them. Raffy thinks it’s over before it started anyway. Marilyn hugs her.

Roo finds Ty still waiting for Ryder. She wonders if something’s come up and Ty says he’ll try Ryder again. At Salt, Ryder and Coco have settled on a beach or farm theme for the wedding, although Ryder is still lobbying for a space theme. Coco says they need to sort out music. Ryder says he’ll sort it and he knows someone who can help. At that point, he gets Ty’s text and hurries out.

Robbo and Ebony are bantering about lunch when Colby comes home. He says they tracked down Hazel but didn’t get there in time. Ebony excuses herself. Colby is confused as to why Robbo was cooking her lunch when he doesn’t trust her. Robbo claims he’s realised he was wrong about her. Later, Colby reflects on the fact he’s trashed his career for nothing, despite Robbo trying to suggest he’s forced Hazel out from under her stone.

Ryder turns up at the school with cold pizza, explaining he got sidetracked helping Coco. Ty is annoyed and walks out. Roo points out to Ryder that he was really really late; Ty was there because of how much the friendship means to him and Ryder has shown how little it means to him. At the Diner, John approaches Ty who says Ryder stood him up for Coco. John says he was just spending time with the girl he fancies, which Ty should understand. Raffy comes over with shakes and checks Ty is okay. Ryder joins them and apologises. He asks both Ty and Raffy to help him pick out a playlist for the wedding: They both veto his first suggestion.

Ebony tracks down Hazel, who seems to have parked her car in a leafy suburb. Ebony thinks Hazel was careless and it was the fault of her friends but Hazel says if Ebony had taken care of Colby they’d be on a tropical island by now. She wants it finished quickly. Next day, Justin goes to see Robbo and Colby to ask for news and also apologises to Colby for getting him into trouble. McCarthy turns up and Justin quickly leaves. McCarthy gives Colby a note terminating his services; he knows about him using Murray’s log-in. He says Colby can appeal but as of now he’s no longer a police officer.

Hazel has been sleeping in her car and Ebony arrives with coffees. Hazel is unimpressed with Ebony’s plans or her warnings about Robbo. She gives Ebony two bottles of poison to use on Colby and Robbo. Ebony points out someone will notice two fit men suddenly dropping down dead but Hazel tells her to end it now.
