Extended Summary

Down on the beach, John and Marilyn walk several paces behind as Ty and Raffy mess about with Ryder. They think that their approach has worked and Raffy and Ty aren’t trying to spend time together anymore. John thinks this means they should keep it up but Marilyn suggests they should back off a bit and trust them. At the farm house, Maggie is asking Ziggy what head-dress she wants. Ziggy says whatever Maggie think is best and Ben suggests whichever is cheapest. Coco comes home laden down with bridal mags and has also added a saver board to her tablet for listing ideas. Ziggy suggests getting Brody involved but when Maggie looks tired for a moment Ziggy agrees with her plans for thirty guests and a church she’s seen.

Colby tells Justin that the police are watching Hazel’s house but there’s been nothing so far. Hazel didn’t have friends and none of her associates will speak to the police. There is the possibility the police have had a breakthrough since he was suspended. Justin wonders if he can find out. Colby goes to the police station, where Murray has been left on his own. He says he needs to print out his statement before the tribunal, convincing Murray to log him into the computer. Instead, he looks up the case on Ava’s kidnapping. While Murray is in the office, he prints out the details on Ava and Hazel then says his goodbyes.

Next morning, Raffy, Ty, Ryder and Coco are eating together in the Diner while John, Marilyn and Roo chat at the counter. Ryder is trying to invent a nickname for Ty, suggesting T-Rex or that they become T-Bomb and R-Bomb but Raffy says Ty is fine for her and fondles his leg. Roo reminds the teens about school and John calls Ty outside, leaving Marilyn alone with Raffy. She says that Raffy and Ty have earned their trust so they’re going to back off a bit and trust them to behave like adults. Later, at school, Ryder is still trying to come up with a nickname, suggesting Ty-riffic. Raffy comes up and takes Ty’s hand but he flinches away. He calls it habit, confirming John spoke to him, but doesn’t respond when Raffy kisses him, saying they need to get to class.

Justin goes to see Colby who admits there was nothing in the files. However, he has had another idea: The Eastons live in Reefton Lakes but used to recruit help from a pub in Mangrove River. They might find something out if they go there. Justin is worried about being recognised from when he got Boyd arrested, while Colby worries about going back to his home town. Shortly after, the two of them are driving. Colby tenses somewhat when they pass the sign saying they’re in Mangrove River and hides his face from some tough-looking characters. He says he used to live down there and it brings back bad memories: He’s not sure what’s worse, being recognised as a River Boy or as a police officer that killed their friend.

Maggie and Ziggy are running over details like whether the napkins should be white or taupe. Ben wonders about Brody’s opinion and Ziggy says he’s only interested in the menu. Ziggy continues to give non-commital answers or immediately agree with Maggie’s suggestions, such as getting the bouquet from a florist Roo suggested. After Ziggy’s gone to get dressed, Maggie admits she’s being a bit too reasonable and Ben says none of the plans sound like Ziggy. He offers to talk to her but Maggie says she’ll handle it. Meanwhile, Justin and Colby arrive at the pub. They see pictures of a footie team above the bar, with a prominent one of Dean holding a trophy. They tell the barman they’re not locals but he recognises Colby from the newspaper as the River Boy turned cop. Colby says he wouldn’t be drinking if he was on the job. The barman becomes more sympathetic when he learns Hazel kidnapped Justin’s daughter and tells them Boyd’s crew usually come in at lunchtime.

Roo is taking the Year 11s and Raffy is making plans to spend time with Ty. Coco says she’s at home after lunch because she has two free periods. Raffy says she and Ty will have lunch in the courtyard and study in the Diner after school. Ryder protests that Ty was meant to be helping him with an assignment but Raffy says that was before they could do what they want. Ryder retorts that it’s what she wants. The bell rings and Ryder ducks out of tiding up, using Raffy’s claim that he has a “thing” to do. Coco heads home where Maggie tells her and Ben she’s going to prove that Ziggy likes her ideas. When Ziggy comes in, Maggie tells her she thinks they should have pink doves. And a medieval theme with her and Brody riding down the aisle on horseback. And harps. Although thrown, Ziggy agrees to every one. Maggie is deflated, Coco is open-mouthed and Ben says he’ll talk to her.

Ryder and Ty are at the Diner. Ty is avoiding Raffy. He says she’s being a bit full-on and he’s not finding it as easy to spend time with her as he does with Ryder. Ryder thinks that’s because friends are easier. He suggests Ty talk to her, then offers to do it himself. Back at school, Raffy complains that she waited for Ty in the courtyard. Ryder takes her aside and tells her she’s smothering Ty. Raffy can see his point but says she really likes Ty. Ryder thinks he really likes her too. Raffy apologises to Ty and they admit being in a relationship is new to both of them. Ryder puts his arms round them both.

Colby is tucking into a bar meal while Justin is more tense. Colby notes his, Dean’s and Jai’s initials on the table, saying it was their old booth. Justin notes Willow’s initials inside a heart. A group of tough-looking types come in and both Justin and the barman identify them as Boyd’s gang. Colby approaches them, saying Hazel said they could do a job for him. One of the group detaches himself and heads outside. Justin follows and hears him on the phone, saying that someone was asking after Hazel. Justin asks him for Hazel’s address and the man recognises him. Colby appears with the barman and several other patrons and also requests the address.

Ben and Ziggy are on the beach with Ben wondering why Ziggy is agreeing to everything. Ziggy says it makes Maggie happy but Ben replies that Maggie wants to see Ziggy happy. He says Diana dictated their wedding and it’s not the best start to married life. They head home where Ziggy says no to the doves, horses and harps. (Coco claims to have been looking forward to the horses.) She says she and Brody will make the decisions but she’ll still need Ben and Maggie’s help to book and budget. Her first decision is to make Coco bridesmaid (Coco says she has the dress and shoes picked out) and suggests they go and use the saver board. She adds that she wants to arrive at the wedding in a hot rod, which Ben and Maggie are happy to arrange.

Justin and Colby leave the pub, having got the address. However, one of the other gang members steps out, talking loudly and pointedly to Hazel on the phone. Justin lunges at him but Colby stops him, saying they have to get to Hazel. They speed off.
