Ziggy proposes to Brody – but this the wedding off before it’s even started? Ebony is getting closer to Colby, but are her plans foiled by Robbo? The Singles Mingle night kicks off at Salt.

Extended Summary

Colby and Ebony meet up on the beach, where Colby has been having another surf. Colby explains that he has to go into the station for another interview with the Integrity Commission. Robbo watches them from further along the beach. Ebony notices this and points it out to Colby; they awkwardly wave at each other before Colby and Ebony go for a coffee. At the farm house, Ziggy and Brody are in bed together. Coco, calling out from the hallway, gives them to the count of three to get decent. Brody hastily dresses and excuses himself. Coco wants to help Ziggy make plans for the wedding and for proposing to Brody, citing Hunter’s proposal video (which Ziggy points out didn’t go too well). Ziggy says she wants to just ask him. Coco dubs this simple and boring.

Brody and Mason get Salt ready for the singles night: The organiser has left Brody very detailed instructions on how it’s to be set out. Brody realises Mason is serious about meeting someone there and wonders if he’s ready. Mason says he still misses Beth but she’d want him to move on. Brody hopes it works out. Back at the farm house, Ziggy and Coco discuss the proposal in whispers, which Ben and Maggie query without getting any information. Ziggy has decided she does want to make a big deal of the proposal after all and wants Coco’s help.

Colby and Ebony wander along the wharf. Ebony asks Colby to call her after his meeting and they contemplate getting something stiffer than coffee if it doesn’t go well. Robbo watches them from the balcony. Ebony again suggests to Colby that Robbo might be involved in the investigation and points out that he’s looking at them. When Colby goes back to the flat, Robbo offers him food but Colby asks if Robbo’s following him. Robbo tries to point out that his problems started when Ebony came to town. Colby retorts that Ebony said the same about him.

Mason gives flyers for the singles night to a couple of girls on the beach. He runs into Hunter and suggests they have drinks at the Morgans’ beforehand. Hunter is reluctant to go, thinking he’ll have trouble with Olivia being there. Mason says he’s supported Hunter through everything with Olivia and needs his help on this. At the Diner, Coco joins Ziggy, who says the banner is hidden behind the garage. Marilyn comes over and Coco immediately blurts out Ziggy’s plan. Ziggy says there may be something Marilyn can do to help.

Marilyn turns up at Salt, where Mason is blowing up balloons. She offers to help with the decorating. Brody shows her the instructions; while they’re talking, Ziggy sneaks past onto the balcony. Marilyn quickly offers to set the tables out there and sends Brody and Mason off to fetch a ladder. Ziggy asks Marilyn to stall Brody for another twenty minutes until Ben and Maggie get there. Back at the Diner, John and Robbo briefly chat about Colby showing off his River Boy tattoos. Ebony approaches John (they’re vaguely aware of who the other is) and asks about Robbo, saying she heard he was involved in a homicide. John says he’s a good bloke but confirms he used to have amnesia and tells her about Kat’s death. Alf, who has been listening in, interrupts, accusing John of spreading rumours.

Coco drags Ben and Maggie to the surf club, at the same time that Marilyn drags Brody and Mason outside. Ziggy appears on the balcony and tells Brody that she loves him and wants to spend her life with him. She unfurls a banner that says “MARRY ME?” After he’s got over the shot, Brody says yes. While Ziggy hurries downstairs, Coco takes a photo of Ben and Maggie’s reaction. Mason congratulates Brody, who gets a blessing from Ben and Maggie and a hug from Marilyn. Ziggy leaps into Brody’s arms and they kiss. A short time later, at Salt, Mason is popping champagne and Leah is also congratulating Brody. Ben and Maggie discuss it; Ben is slightly worried about how young Ziggy is but agrees she looks happy. However, his comment that it’s out of the blue seems to give Maggie pause for thought. Mason says he’s going to call Justin and Tori while Marilyn goes to tell John.

Alf and John are heading along the wharf; John is unconvinced by Alf’s insistence that they need to tell Robbo. Marilyn runs up and tells them about the engagement. She drags John off to spread the news, specifically wanting to phone Irene. Alf goes over to Robbo and tells him about Ebony asking questions. They see Colby going back to the flat. Robbo goes to check on him and Colby says Internal Affairs want to expand the investigation and look into his old cases. Robbo says they won’t find anything and Colby says it depends how hard they look: He’s turned a blind eye to things as all cops do. He gets a text from Ebony asking how things went. Robbo tries to tell him about Ebony asking questions but Colby isn’t interested.

At Salt, Maggie listens in with a bit of concern as Ziggy and Coco note how happy she looks in the photos. Ben notes with the singles night about to start they should decamp to theirs; Brody arranges for Leah to run the event. Mason, Hunter and Olivia turn up; the latter too are underwhelmed, especially when Leah gives them forms, explaining they’re going to be grouped according to compatibility. Hunter and Olivia explain to Mason and Leah respectively that they’re worried they’ll be grouped together. Maggie takes Ziggy aside and asks if she only proposed because of the letter. Ziggy insists she didn’t but Brody overhears. Once at the farm house, he takes Ziggy into the bedroom and asks what was in the letter. Ziggy tries to avoid the question but eventually admits Maggie said it’d be sad if she wasn’t at her wedding. Brody starts to leave and Ziggy asks him not to, saying she does want to marry him and it’s been a great day. Brody asks if she’d have proposed if she hadn’t got the letter; Ziggy’s silence gives him his answer and he leaves. Ben and Maggie appear, having apparently overheard.

Ebony runs into Robbo coming down the stairs from the flat and asks if Colby’s back. Robbo says he’s not up to visitors but Ebony wants to go and check anyway. Robbo asks why she was asking questions about him. Ebony claims she likes him but knows he wouldn’t feel the same way. She starts up the stairs again but Robbo suggests they go for a drink and find out. Ebony agrees, but it’s clear from their expressions that both of them have their own reasons for agreeing to the date.
