Extended Summary

Colby and Willow are with the ambulance officers as they bring Dean into hospital, being met by staff including Mason and Jasmine. Colby says he’s been drinking but Willow says he’s hardly touched anything. Dean starts fitting and Mason tells someone to get Dr Lucas. Later, Lucas is overseeing the treatment. Dean is extremely agitated and delusional, struggling against the staff, as well as thinking Jasmine is Willow and accusing Colby of doing this to him. Lucas asks what drugs he’s taken and Willow says he doesn’t touch them. Lucas tells them to be honest and Colby snaps at him to do his job. Mason ushers Colby and Willow out. Colby wants another doctor but Willow says Lucas is just going his job. Jasmine joins them and says the narcotics screen was clear but the alcohol levels were high, although that doesn’t explain Dean’s condition. Willow says he drank two home brew and they’ve been drinking Mozzy’s since they were teenagers but Jasmine thinks it must have been a bad batch and they need to know what was in it. Colby hurries off.

Leah is closing up at the Diner. Maggie turns up and gives her a gift for having Ben. Leah says he’s been a perfect house guest and Maggie notes she was hoping he’d be home tonight, given she has an appointment tomorrow. She assures Leah it’s just a check-up. At Salt, Ben gets off the phone and admits to Ziggy that he couldn’t get his court date moved. Brody joins them as Ziggy opines they need to tell Maggie. Ben thinks that they don’t: He’s in court at 9.30, Maggie’s appointment is at 11, he’ll be in and out with Brody testifying for him and probably won’t get more than a good behaviour bond. Ziggy isn’t convinced but Brody backs him up.

Ziggy joins Brody in the Salt store room, wondering if he really believes in Ben’s plan or just wants to be on his good side. Brody says the important thing is helping Maggie. Ziggy reflects on Ben and Brody getting on and wonders if he’s the son Ben always wanted. Down on the beach, Colby finds the bottles and calls Willow. Jasmine tells her the drink needs to be analysed. Dean starts deteriorating to the point they need to resuscitate. Lucas tells Mason to start compressions. He freezes and then starts doing it in a frantic manner, having a flashback to resuscitating Beth and Tori ordering him away. Jasmine has to prompt him to get clear so Dean can be shocked, which puts him back in sinus. Colby arrives with a bag full of home brew. Jasmine takes it and sends Colby and Willow to get a coffee. She gives the bag to Mason to take to the lab; he insists that he’s good.

Ben arrives back at the caravan park house to find Alf and Leah pouring out wine which Alf describes as a bribe from Maggie for having him. Leah reminds him about the appointment and he insists he knows and will be there. After they have gone, he calls Maggie (who is at the farm house) and assures her he’ll be there. He asks how she’s feeling. Maggie starts off saying she’s fine, then admits she’s terrified. Ben reminds her the doctors caught the cancer early. Maggie says she’s missed having him around and Ben repeats that he’ll be there.

Mason joins Colby and Willow and tells them that Dean’s getting treatment now they know what they’re dealing with: He’ll be taken to ICU for 24 hours of observation. Willow and Colby reminisce about the times Dean’s hurt himself, but when Willow mentions the crash, Colby gets annoyed and walks away. Mason joins Jasmine at the nurses’ station. She asks what happened before and he dismisses it as him being rusty. Willow finds Colby sat by Dean’s bed. She says he was exactly like this after the crash: Weeks in hospital and nearly died. She always thought Dean was angry because Colby disappeared at the time, but now she realises Colby was with Dean and Jay in the car. Colby admits it’s true. Willow accuses him of leaving his mates lying unconscious after a joyride. Colby says it wasn’t a joyride but admits he got Dean to steal the car. Willow says Dean nearly died and Jay did; Dean kept quiet and went to jail. Colby says he never knew but Willow says that’s because he never checked. She tells him he can never fix it and to go.

Next morning, Leah serves Jasmine and Mason at the Diner. Jasmine confirms her first shift went well, she was offered more and she’s decided to stay on. Leah checks Mason was okay. After she’s gone, Jasmine notes that it sounds like there’s something big she doesn’t know, observing that gossip travels fast and she’d rather hear it from Mason. Mason explains his girlfriend needed a heart transplant, he did dodgy things to move her up the list and got suspended and lost his placement…and his girlfriend died. He worries about freezing up again and Jasmine tells him to take it a shift at a time. At the hospital, Willow is by Dean’s side as he comes round. She explains about the home brew, which was full of chemicals, and he notes this is how he gets her attention. She gets a call; Dean wonders if it’s Justin but it’s Colby and she rejects it. She tells him she knows the truth and they’ll talk when he’s better. At his flat, Colby leaves Willow a message: She doesn’t have to call him but he needs to know how Dean is. Willow texts back saying Dean’s fine and to leave them alone.

Ziggy arrives home and tells Maggie that Coco’s with Raffy and said to call as soon as they get the results. Maggie thinks they should wait for Ben. Ziggy says he’s meeting them there but doesn’t elaborate. Outside the court house, Ben frets to Brody that it’s gone half past. Ben’s lawyer, Julian, arrives and tells them they’re eighth on the list: Ben isn’t up first, as he thought, but in the first group. Julian assures them that the other cases will take less than ten minutes each and Brody reminds Ben that the hospital’s just down the road.

Ziggy and Maggie are at the hospital with Maggie wondering where Ben is. Sarah comes out to get them but Maggie asks to wait for Ben. Sarah says the doctor has to go in twenty minutes so Ziggy asks for five minutes, then tries Ben again. Outside the court house, Ben gets Ziggy’s text saying he’s out of time and decides to go. Julian says if he doesn’t turn up in court he could get a hefty fine or two years in jail. A court official appears and Julian says they’re up. Brody tries to convince Ben that if he doesn’t go in he’s stuffed.
