Extended Summary

Raffy tries to help Olivia by finding something that’s still salvageable but Olivia is in no mood for help and orders her out. Irene comes home as Hunter chides Olivia for her behaviour, saying she never explained properly. Olivia says this is real life, not a school project, and she can’t screw it up. Meanwhile, Ben and Maggie go into the Diner. Ben has a surprise but Maggie lists the surprises he’s given her that were rubbish: Dragons membership, a bolo party and a gorilla gram. Raffy comes in and asks for something with chocolate but Marilyn says she and John are going to say goodbye to Roo. Raffy wasn’t aware that she was going away.

Mason and Beth arrive back at the Morgan house. Beth is pleased with her first experience of meeting the parents and notes that she didn’t even show her parents the tattoo. Mason tells her what Alan said when she and Jackie weren’t there. Back at the beach house, Irene criticises Olivia for the way she treated her friends, especially Raffy. She thinks that Olivia needs to put up a sign on the website saying she’s sold out for the moment. Olivia gets a message complaining about an overdue order and Irene and Hunter again urge her to tell them that there’s a delay.

Raffy is walking despondently through the car park near the surf club. She sees a can resting on a post and starts throwing stones at it. Ben and Maggie are walking nearby. One of Raffy’s stones overshoots the can and smashes a car windscreen. Ben and Maggie come over; Raffy sees them and runs off. Maggie realises it’s Roo’s car. Back at the Morgan house, Beth is annoyed about her parents’ attitude and Mason says he didn’t want to hurt her. Alan turns up and Beth has a go at him for interfering. Alan doesn’t think she’s in the right head space for a relationship. Mason suggests that it’s Beth’s choice and they both want her to be happy.

Olivia is on her phone at the Diner, offering a discount to a customer who wanted a dress for her sister’s wedding. She notes that she hasn’t apologised to Raffy or Hunter and puts the latter right. She thinks she needs a proper workforce and her friends from uni could do it. Hunter wonders how she’d pay them and Olivia says she could use her trust fund. However, when she puts it to Irene back at home, Irene refused. Olivia protests that it was meant to set her up but Irene retorts that it was meant to be a safety net. Hunter helps plead Olivia’s case and Irene eventually agrees that if Olivia gets a business loan from the bank she’ll match it…but Olivia has to apologise to Raffy.

John, Marilyn and Roo have joined Ben and Maggie in looking at the car. All of them seem to assume Raffy did it deliberately and wonder why. Roo wonders how she’s going to get to the city. Marilyn says she can take her car and she and John will get Justin to fix the windscreen while she’s away. John wonders where Raffy is. In fact, she’s at home where Olivia comes to see her. Olivia apologises and says she’ll make Raffy a unique outfit like she promised once she’s cleared the orders. John and Marilyn come home wanting a word with Raffy.

Ben and Maggie arrive home. There is an object covered with a sheet in the living area and Ben removes it to reveal his first board, which he’s decorated with pictures of Maggie’s favourite flowers. Maggie is pleased but checks that he knows she’ll never use it. Ben does but says it’ll look great above their bed. Back at the beach house, Olivia has phoned the bank but learns they need a business plan. Irene again tries to get her to shut down sales as she gets a notification of a bad review. She notes that she’s got no money or materials and is getting a bad reputation.

Beth tells Alan that she knows what she’s doing but Alan suggests the tattoo is evidence to the contrary. He says that if something happens to her Mason will move on, but he and Jackie want to make every second they’ve got her count. Beth softens somewhat but says they can’t let their lives be ruled by fear. Later, when Mason and Beth are alone, Beth reflects on her parents knowing about the tattoo after all. She tells Mason that she understands if it’s too much but Mason tells her he wants her. They kiss and Beth says she’s ready.

Raffy at first denies breaking a windscreen but John and Marilyn don’t believe her. She finally tells them it was an accident but John in particular doesn’t believe that either, pointing out she’s told a lot of lies. Raffy runs out, upset. Later, John and Marilyn go to the Diner. John complains about Raffy acting out lately but Marilyn points out that it’s been since she lived with them and wonders if they’re the problem.

Olivia is working on her business plan. Hunter says he’s going out for food. Olivia looks in the cupboard for a pen and finds her trust fund details, including a cheque book. She hastily puts them back when Hunter returns for his wallet. Some time after however, she is struggling to make sense of the calculations and gets a message from someone asking why she hasn’t replied and demanding a refund. Olivia looks tired. She gets the trust fund details out and writes a cheque for $5000, forging Irene’s signature.

Beth and Mason come out of his room having obviously just slept together (he is in his boxers and she is wearing his shirt). They express relief that none of his family came home to interrupt them. Mason suggests they go out for dessert and goes to get dressed. Beth feels faint and has to support herself against a table. They go for a walk on the wharf, both loved up. Mason tells her she’s beautiful but before Beth can finish her answer she slumps in his arms. Mason starts doing CPR on her and yells for help.
