Tensions erupt between Leah and Dan in the wake of her discovery – she’s still in love with Dan – but nothing will prepare her for Amanda’s vicious attack. Belle defies the law by stealing Hyde’s car in her desperate bid to finally meet her mother.
Extended Summary
Having just seen Dan and Amanda kissing, a confused and hurt Leah rushes away. Dan and Amanda break from the kiss – Dan grabs VJ, he has to get him back to Leah – she’ll be waiting for him. At Leah’s house, Kim and Rachel are finishing up the dishes from lunch – Kim is trying to find out more about Rachel’s dysfunctional family. Hugh seemed to know all about them, but she won’t tell Kim a thing about it. He doesn’t get to pursue the issue any further as Leah rushes in, clearly rattled and heads into her room. As Kim heads off, Dan arrives to drop off VJ. Leah wanders out, having been crying and Dan tells her he and the boys had a great time at the beach. Leah tries to contain her anger, but doesn’t succeed. Rachel takes VJ out of the room so Dan and Leah can talk. Leah lets Dan have it – how dare he kiss Amanda in front of the boys? Dan’s face falls and a huge blow up ensues. Rachel urges them to calm down. Dan walks out leaving a fuming Leah while Rachel wants to know what the hell is going on?! Leah fills Rachel in on Dan and Amanda’s kiss. Rachel points out that Leah and Dan are no longer together – Leah knows that, but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt. She is also concerned about Ryan and VJ getting mixed messages about the whole separation. Leah also doesn’t want to see Dan get hurt by Amanda, again.
Dan enters his apartment and slumps against the door – how is he going to get himself out of this mess? Kim drops by the apartment that afternoon and lets Dan know that he is looking for a place to stay – perhaps they could set up a house together? Dan opens up about the whole situation – his confusion is clear – Dan doesn’t know what to do. As Kim is about to leave, Amanda arrives. She has brought a bottle of wine. Dan kindly lets her know that he’s had a blow up with Leah and would prefer that Amanda left. She tries to hide her disappointment. Amanda then arrives at Leah’s and lets her know that she had better leave Dan alone, the marriage is over and Dan is meant to be with her! Leah is stunned! Leah walks the beach, lost in thought. Further along, Dan is doing the same thing. Dan and Leah finally reach one another – the awkwardness is clear. They are both weary and Leah apologises for her outburst earlier. She knows he has to move on, but why with Amanda after all she has done? Dan insists he isn’t taking her back, Leah lets him know about Amanda’s visit – Dan doesn’t know what she’s thinking – Leah just doesn’t want to see Dan get hurt. Dan says it’s his call, they’re separated now and it’s his business if he gets hurt. Leah takes this in as Dan sadly moves on. Later at her house, Leah admits to Rachel that she is still in love with Dan but is too frightened to let him know!
Ric approaches Belle on the beach and sees she is crying – her adoptive parents sent her a package of her belongings and made it clear they don’t want her back. She shows Ric the rest of the letters from her birth mother. They sit together and read them. She gets hopeful when she finds a name K. Landsdowne in one of the letters. They search the net and find a few numbers listed for that name in the local area! Belle jumps on the phone! Cassie confides in Matilda about how she is finding the break up with Ric quite difficult – he seems to be handling it really well, which makes it harder. Matilda asks if anything is going on with Ric and Belle – Cassie doesn’t think so, and doesn’t care if there is. Matilda tries to convince Cass to go to a boxing class with her – to distract her from all that is going on. She finally she agrees to go. Lucas approaches, the girls ask where Ric is, but Lucas plays it cool saying he isn’t sure. Cassie knows straight away that he is with Belle! Matilda pushes Cassie forward as a volunteer in the boxing class – as soon as the instructor tells Cass to visualise someone to hit – she’s off and running and punching like a champ!
Cassie gets right into it and signs up for the classes! Belle calls the last number on the list – her expectations are sky high – Ric reminds her that if this isn’t her, they can keep looking. The cleaner answers – Katherine is out purchasing her round the world tickets – she leaves tomorrow! In a panic – Belle decides to head off to meet her – this has to be her! She asks Ric if he can drive – sure, but hasn’t got a car. Belle can’t be stopped, Ric follows, worried. Belle charges along trying to hitch a ride – Hyde pulls up in his car, leaves the engine running outside the Surf Club – Ric tries to stop her, but she gets away and jumps in Hyde’s car! Grinding the gears, she makes her way out of the car park! Ric is frantic!
