Extended Summary

Irene visits Rhys in the city to get dirt on Josie. Rhys tells her that he and Angie went out in their teens, and Josie was extremely jealous. She was used to getting any guy she wanted. Rhys wasn’t interested – no matter what she tried. So one night after a drunken party, Josie pretended to be Angie and managed to sleep with Rhys. The point is that Josie has only ever cared about one person: herself. The only thing she can’t overcome is a strong man. Irene jokes that maybe Rhys could come back with her to the Bay? He says he’s never returning permanently. When the dust settles, he wants to be remembered as a good bloke who made an emotional choice.

Back in Summer Bay, Josie is flirting with Kim and inviting Jesse out to dinner. Actually, it’s more like ordering Jesse out to dinner! Josie thinks she can click her fingers and he will come running. Jesse decides the date will be a perfect opportunity to correct that misconception.

At the restaurant Jesse tells Josie he wants to bring a third person into their partnership – for a deciding vote. Josie isn’t happy but Jesse tells her to think about it. He throws her even more when he says he doesn’t like the direction the night is heading; ‘partners’ shouldn’t sleep together. Josie says the other view is that clearing away the unresolved sexual tension will smooth the road ahead. Jesse says he’d rather live with the tension. The game has begun…

Irene comes back to the Bay looking for a ‘strong man’ to be her ally in the fight against Josie. But one by one, the men of Summer Bay reveal they have fallen under Josie’s spell – even Hyde! Irene tells Leah if there was chemistry between them before, it’s over now.

Dani and Scott are celebrating their engagement with a party at the Palace. They’re a bit worried that Hayley won’t be up to it. She assures them she’s getting back on track by pouring her heart into painting. Dani discovers that’s a lie when she accidentally tips over Hayley’s easel and discovers nothing on the canvas at all! Hayley says she’s fine, but won’t reveal why she lied.

Dani has calmed her anger towards the Summer Bay community. The last person she needs to mend fences with is Jessie. She invites him to the party but unfortunately Josie has his full attention that night. He tells Dani he also wants to close the distance between them; things are back on the right track.

Alf gives Irene the contractual papers to become a partner in the Diner. But halfway through reading the document, Irene discovers a name that delights her; it’s the answer to her problems with Josie.
