Fisher is convinced his wedding present fraud will remain undetected. Bobby receives worrying news from her doctor. Blake and Karen feel unwanted in the Stewart household.
Extended Summary
Bobby is feeling unwell as she serves Greg at the Diner. Ailsa arrives and Bobby tells her there were some kids in earlier looking for her. Ailsa answers a phone call from Alf who tells her to get home because they have visitors. He asks Blake and Karen why they didn’t mention at the store earlier that they want to live with him and Ailsa. They admit they wanted to check him out first.
Carly is making dinner at Summer Bay House and tells Ben they need to write to thank people for the wedding presents, although Ben has more romantic ideas.
Arriving home, Ailsa is delighted to see Blake and Karen until she realises they have run away. They tell her how strict their Uncle Alec has been and remind her she told them they could come to her if they needed anything.
Donald arrives at the Diner as Matt called to tell him Bobby is unwell. He insists on taking Bobby home and that she needs to see a doctor tomorrow. Matt tells her that flu can be fatal but Bobby knowingly says she’s not going to cark it from what she’s got.
Ailsa tells Blake and Karen about Emma but assures them they won’t be in the way. They go to wash the dishes and Alf asks Ailsa if their father can’t look after them but Ailsa says he walked out before Karen was born. She says she will call Alec and try to sort things out. Alf goes to borrow a camp bed from Ben and Carly. Carly offers Alf a cup of tea from the kettle Donald gave them, but it blows up when she plugs it in! Back at the house, Ailsa overhears Blake and Karen discussing the fact that Alf doesn’t seem too happy. They refuse to go back to live with Uncle Alec.
The following morning, Ailsa talks to Alec on the phone. It sounds like he doesn’t want Blake and Karen back either. He’s going to come down in a couple of days. Ben arrives to work on the decorating and Karen suggests they help. Blake isn’t keen but Karen really wants to stay and thinks it will help. Blake isn’t convinced and tells her not to expect a fairy tale ending. He doesn’t want to hang around where he’s not welcome but Karen wants to stay until they find out for sure.
Bobby goes to the surgery, and we hear the tail end of her conversation with the doctor; the examination has confirmed it and he knows it must be a shock.
At the Diner, Donald apologises to Carly about the kettle but is insistent that he will return it. Bobby returns and claims the doctor said she’s just run down and needs a holiday. She plans to leave today. She and Donald head to the store where Donald asks if Alf has a new element for the kettle. Bobby tells him he should return it but Donald says it was a gift from some students and had been in the cupboard for years!
Donald says goodbye to Bobby at the bus stop. Bobby looks pensive as the bus pulls away. Donald returns to the Diner and tells Ailsa he thinks there’s more to it than Bobby is letting on.
Ben tells Alf that Blake and Karen have been a big help. Alf says one teenager around the place is enough. Blake and Karen come through to front door to hear Alf saying he doesn’t want them and they’re not staying.
