Extended Summary

Andrew finds Stacey on the beach as she was gone when he woke up. He is worried about Mick but Stacey doesn’t think he deserves any sympathy after attacking her and stealing her money. Andrew says it’s attitudes like hers that got him into this mess in the first place and Stacey walks off.

Emma “bumps into” Steven as she is walking to school a different way. They meet Viv who is still going with the punk look and Emma looks on jealously as Viv and Steven walk off together. At the school, Emma invites Steven round to watch a video tonight. He agrees and invites Viv but she isn’t interested.

Stacey is packing a suitcase when Andrew comes home and asks what she’s doing. Stacey has accepted Nina’s job offer in LA. She loves Andrew but can’t see a way of making things work. Andrew says he can’t turn his back on all the kids who need his help. Stacey says he wouldn’t be him if he could. She is booked on a flight tonight and asks Andrew to leave because it’s too hard to say goodbye.

Ailsa is on the phone at the Diner wishing Stacey all the best. Morag comes in and Ailsa tells her Stacey is leaving. Morag doesn’t think being the wife of a do-gooder would have much of a challenge for her. Ailsa tells Morag not to get into venomous mode but Morag says she’s a reformed woman. Ailsa warns her not to upset Bobby tonight.

Bobby and Danny are discussing Morag’s dinner party in Danny’s caravan. Bobby is feeling uneasy about but Danny thinks Morag wants to apologise to her. He says they are both happy and not even Morag can wreck that. They kiss.

Steven arrives at the flat to check how Andrew is since he’s heard about Stacey (who has apparently left already). Andrew says he let too many things get in the way of their relationship. Stacey has left a letter for Steven apologising for not saying goodbye. She wants Steven to make sure Andrew doesn’t sit around feeling sorry for himself.

Emma puts stuff on the armchairs so only the couch is free. Steven arrives and wonders why Emma is so dressed up but she dismisses it. They sit down on the couch to watch Top Gun.

At the Diner, Donald and Ailsa discuss Morag’s dinner. They are cautious but inclined to believe her intentions are good. Ailsa gives Donald a pack of shortbread to take to Morag’s and he says if she does get vindictive he can pop a few of them forcibly into her mouth!

Emma tells Steven that Tom Cruise isn’t her type; she prefers brainly, tall and slim! There’s a knock at the door and Steven goes to answer it. It’s Viv, who has changed her mind about coming over, much to Emma’s dismay. Viv has reverted to her usual style and Steven tells her she looks great.

Bobby, Danny and Donald arrive at Morag’s. Morag tells Bobby she looks delightful and Donald must be very proud of her. After dinner, Morag talks about how she has grown fond of Banjo. Donald gets up to leave but Morag insists they all stay as they haven’t played party games yet. She wants to play courtrooms with Danny as the accused and herself as prosecutor.

The movie finishes and Emma is short with Viv. Duncan starts crying and so Viv and Steven leave together. Emma says she knows who she’d love to throw Duncan’s dirty nappy at!

Pretending to be in Court, Morag reveals Danny’s real name is Daniel Gordon Farnsworth, the son of Gordon Robert Farnsworth whom she incarcerated several years ago. Danny yells at Morag that she killed him. Donald and Bobby want to know what’s going on and Morag reveals that Danny has been seeking revenge on her: the break-ins, telephone calls, and by endearing himself to her illegitimate daughter. She asks Bobby if she seriously thought Danny was interested in someone like her. Danny loses it, talking to Donald as if he’s his father and saying he will still get her. He runs out of the house and Bobby follows. Donald tells Morag she is the most despicable, vindictive, venomous woman he’s ever had the misfortune to meet.
