Extended Summary

Maggie finds Ben near the surf club and gently chides him for surfing instead of opening up. He says he was testing a new board for Ziggy and promises he won’t smash this one. Maggie notes he can laugh about it and Ben says it’s either that or crying. Maggie notes she got a text from Ziggy saying the job’s going well. They hope she gets it, even though it’ll mean her being away for most of the year, which would be hard on Dean. At the race track, Dean is now in his car. Ziggy apologises for her initial reaction, saying he should have called. Dean says he tried but she didn’t answer, and he hoped it would be a nice surprise. Kurt calls everyone over and Ziggy asks Dean to stay until lunch.

Robbo is pushing Grace near the Diner and runs into Justin and Leah. He notes Grace slept until six, meaning he got four hours’ sleep, and speculates it’s because they’re getting a routine. He asks about Tori. Justin says she’s stable but there’s been no news since the second bleed. Leah goes to get coffees, suggesting Justin have a cuddle. In the Diner, Marilyn laments to Leah and Jasmine about the situation with Tori. Jasmine notes they’re fine looking after Grace, but Tori’s missing out on a lot. They speculate that she could wake up tomorrow.

Jasmine goes up to the flat and finds Robbo alone with Grace. He explains that Justin bailed, claiming he had work to do. They consider that it must be difficult for him being reminded of Tori. Jasmine suggests making a memory album of photos so Tori doesn’t miss out. Out on the wharf, Alf finds a frustrated Justin trying to fix an engine. Justin admits that he thought Tori would have woken up by now, but instead it’s been weeks with no change. Leah joins them as he reflects that he’s in limbo with her.

At the race track, Dean watches on as Ziggy and the rest of the team work on the car. Kurt tells Ziggy she managed the tyre in ten seconds and congratulates her. Later, Kurt calls lunch and both he and Alana compliment Ziggy on being as good as the professionals. Ziggy runs over to Dean, pleased. Kurt calls over, asking if she’s coming to the pub with them. Ziggy invites Dean to come along but he says he just wanted to check she was all right and leaves.

Jasmine takes a photo of Grace and also one with Robbo in the shot, saying it’ll be good for Tori to see what a great dad he’s been. Later, Robbo notes Grace is due a nap, suggesting he and Jasmine have alone time while she sleeps. They’re interrupted by a phone call from Lance, which Robbo isn’t happy with. He tells Jasmine that an AFP lawyer is coming over to talk through their testimony.

Ben and Maggie finish a meal in the Diner and Ben proves he’s regained his appetite by taking some of Maggie’s food. He leaves as Leah and Marilyn join Maggie and comment that he seems better. Maggie notes that he still has ups and downs. Leah reflects on Justin’s state of mind and wonders if she can do something to help. Outside, Justin has the engine out but admits to Alf he has no idea what to do and might have to outsource it. Leah appears and tells Justin to take the rest of the day off. Justin tries to argue but Alf agrees, saying he’s likely to make the engine worse if he stays. Justin warns that he’s not good company.

Robbo checks with Jasmine who admits she’s a bit nervous. The lawyer, Yvonne Wise, turns up and Robbo tells her Grace is asleep. Yvonne says she needs to go through their statements to make sure the testimony is watertight. At the race track, Alana chats to Ziggy about Kurt. She notes she gets on okay with Kurt; Ziggy says Alana’s his boss and Alana says she’s also his wife. Ziggy recalls she and Dean worked together once but it was before they were a couple and she’d probably kill him now. Alana admits she and Kurt wouldn’t see each other if they didn’t work together and says only the strongest relationships survive.

Ben and Maggie are at the farm house; Maggie gives Ben a drink as he continues designing. He gets a call from Ziggy and they ask if anything’s wrong. She says she needs Ben to do her a favour with Dean. A short time later, Dean pulls into the caravan park and finds Ben outside his van. Ben explains Ziggy called and Dean isn’t too impressed with her sending her dad to check on him. Dean says he saw Ziggy there and she’s loving it; he’s convinced she’ll get the job and wants her to be happy, but despite Ben’s reassurances, he’s convinced it will be the end of them.

Leah and Justin are at Salt. Leah tries to talk about having Ben and Maggie over for dinner but Justin admits he wasn’t listening and is worried he’ll get another call with bad news soon. Leah tries to get him to stay positive but he feels like he’s losing everyone. Leah assures him he won’t lose her and they’re in it together: People come out of comas all the time. Later, Ben and Maggie come in. They worry they’re intruding but Leah and Justin invite them to share a table. As the women go to the bar, Justin explains his fears to Ben and that he couldn’t get through it without Leah. Ben seems to appreciate the sentiment.

Jasmine and Yvonne go through what happened during the kidnap: Jasmine being intercepted near Summer Bay, Scott and Lenny being shot, Jasmine being dragged into the car, her treating Lenny for the gunshot wound and trying to alert Robbo with the medical supplies. Robbo tries to stop the questioning but Jasmine says she’s fine, so Robbo goes to settle Grace. Yvonne asks Jasmine about Des Hendricks and she explains he turned up and started making threats. Robbo closes the door, shutting out the conversation. Later, Robbo comes back in with Grace as Jasmine is telling Yvonne how she escaped. Yvonne wants to talk to Robbo, noting she needs to go over Victor’s murder of his family. Robbo refuses, saying he’s busy with Grace, and ends up shouting at Yvonne to get out. Jasmine glares at him.
