Extended Summary
Jasmine asks Robbo if he wants to explain his actions, saying the AFP are trying to help put Victor and Des away. Robbo refuses to talk about it so Jasmine says she’ll go and pick up dinner. Down in the Diner, John tries to sit with Alf but Alf replies that it’s Martha’s seat and she’s joining him later. John grumbles as he sits at the next table and Alf asks Marilyn if she can sit him further away…like Darwin. At the counter, Irene gives Jasmine a takeaway and observes there’s not much there. Jasmine admits she’s not really hungry, explaining about Robbo throwing the AFP lawyer out. Irene notes it must be confronting but Jasmine notes they have to tell their story some time and it seems to be never ending.
Leah, Justin, Ben and Maggie are eating together at Salt and discussing how Ziggy’s doing and how much of an asset she’ll be to Justin at the garage. Mason comes in; he was just going to get takeaway but they invite him to join them. Mason tells Justin he’s spoken to Tori’s doctors and there’s no change. Justin says he knows but Mason says they need to talk about what happens next. Justin refuses and walks out. Some time later, Leah finds him on the beach, noting she was looking for him. Justin refuses to talk to Mason, saying he’s trying to stay strong and positive, and if Leah came out of a coma, so can Tori.
Back at the Diner, Alf finishes a call with Martha and tells Marilyn she’d better make it a takeaway; Martha’s art class in Yabbie Creek has gone on longer than expected. John notes he could have sat there after all. Marilyn suggests it’s good Martha has interests but Alf notes he thought she moved there to spend time with him. Upstairs in the flat, Robbo joins Jasmine on the balcony. He notes Grace is asleep and Jasmine says it’s been a big day. Robbo apologises for going off but says he didn’t want to talk about Victor and Des in front of Grace. He says the flat needs to be a safe space for them. Jasmine asks whether he doesn’t want to talk about the statements there or at all.
Next morning, Leah runs into Mason at the Diner and he asks after Justin, since they still haven’t had their conversation. Leah wonders if he could go to Brody for help but Mason says he’s far away and has the business and Raffy to deal with; it has to be them that makes the decision. At the surf club, Maggie helps Ben set up and they suggest doing an advert in the Coastal News with a promotion. John approaches and asks if things are picking up; Ben tells him about the custom board and also working on the board for Ziggy. Mason comes in and goes into the gym without talking to anyone. Leah joins Maggie and admits things aren’t all right.
Alf gets a text from Martha and complains to Roo that they argued over her staying in Yabbie Creek last night so now she’s texting him every five minutes with updates: As if to prove his point, he gets another text. Martha has gone to another art class but is supposed to be back for lunch. Alf says living together is not working out as expected and heads off to work. Outside the bait shop, Alf finds Justin working on the engine. He notes he wasn’t sure if Justin would be back. Justin says he needs to work.
Robbo is out for a walk when he gets a rather irate phone call from Lance. Robbo says he will do the statement but on his own terms. Back at the flat, Jasmine is looking after Grace, saying she’s got a great dad and everyone loves her including Tori. Robbo returns and tells her he’s agreed with Lance that they can do their statements at the AFP office in the city. Jasmine notes Justin would be happy to babysit, as would Leah, Irene, Marilyn and half the Bay. Jasmine says goodbye as she heads into work.
At the gym, Maggie notes Mason lifting weights at the other side of the room and Leah “killing a punchbag” in front of her and wonders if it’s to do with last night. Leah explains about Justin not wanting to talk about Tori, even though he’s next of kin, and her being caught in the middle. Mason’s phone rings and he says it’s Tori’s specialist, Dr Whitney. At the Diner, Jasmine gives Irene an update and is optimistic things will be over soon.
Roo is having her lunch but Alf insists on waiting for Martha, only to get a text from her saying she’s gone for lunch with “the girls”. Alf complains that he doesn’t even know who “the girls” are, despite Roo pointing out they’re probably from the art class. Meanwhile, Mason approaches Justin and says Tori’s doctors want a family meeting. Justin checks there’s nothing new and then says he’s not interested but Mason insists they talk.
In the flat, Robbo is surprised by a visit from Ian and Wendy. They remind him they said they’d come down; Robbo thought they’d ring and confirm first but they seem to be more spontaneous. Robbo introduces them to Grace and they goo over her, with Wendy noting she looks just like Sophia as a baby. Later, Robbo tries to tell Wendy that it’s time for Grace’s nap but she insists on hanging on to her. Ian checks that it’s over and they’re safe, with the people that killed Lauren and the kids all locked up, and Robbo confirms they are. Grace is unsettled so Wendy gives her to Robbo to put down. After they’ve left the room, Ian and Wendy comment on four people and a baby living in a shoebox and the stairs being an accident waiting to happen, deciding they can’t stay there. (They both take swigs from a beer bottle as they speak.)
Leah comes into the Diner and Marilyn alerts her to Justin and Mason sat at the far end, having not ordered anything. Justin says Tori is stable but Mason says that’s not a good thing: She should be improving. Justin says it’s obvious whose side Mason is on. Mason says he’s on Tori’s side but Justin accuses him of being too scared to go against his doctor mates. Mason angrily tells him to never say he doesn’t care about Tori. Later, Justin is back on the wharf. Mason storms over with Leah trailing behind. He tries to talk to Justin but Leah convinces him to go, saying they’re all worked up. Justin admits he’s scared the doctors are going to say there’s nothing more they can do and couldn’t cope with losing Tori.
