Justin goes down a dark path in his quest to help a distraught Raffy after her CBD trial is shut down. Robbo finally learns who is after him and why – but it only leads to more questions.
Extended Summary
Mason runs into Justin on the beach and notes he looks worried. Justin admits that he promised Raffy he’d help her. Leah joins them and notes it’s a bad time for this to happen, with Raffy dealing with exam stress and the break-up. At the Diner, John, Marilyn and Roo all try to reassure Raffy. Raffy spent all night awake worrying and isn’t reassured that her other medication will help. Roo reminds her she has the extra time, with John adding she can apply for misadventure if anything happens, and biology is one of her best subjects. Raffy turns down Marilyn’s offer of a big breakfast, saying she wants to get to school and cram.
Robbo is waiting on the wharf. He sees a boat approaching and mutters for them to come on. The boat pulls to a stop some distance out from the shore. Robbo calls out, asking what they’re waiting for and that he’s here. The boat finally comes over to the wharf: There are three men on board. The spokesman, Des, tells Robbo to get on and has his hands tied behind his back. Des searches Robbo and finds the tracker, which he throws overboard. He has Robbo forced to his knees and places a hood over his head.
Raffy is leaving the Diner and encounters Leah and Justin. She sarcastically asks if they’re going to help her after having a cosy breakfast, then realises she’s being unfair. Justin takes her for a walk near the surf club and tries to convince her she can do well at the exams but Raffy insists she can’t do them without the CBD oil. Mason joins them and they go inside. Sending Justin to get some water, Mason tells Raffy that she won’t have a seizure because she still has the CBD in her system; it will last for another week. That’s enough time for her to do the trials and for them to think of something else. Justin produces the water and Mason takes Raffy to school.
Robbo is escorted to a yard near the water, where he is forced to his knees. The hood is removed and he sees an older man, Victor, who has a tattoo of the symbol from the letter. Victor recalls how Ryan Shaw disappeared years ago and they were shocked to find that he was living in Summer Bay and had bought a gym and got married. He tauntingly recalls how Robbo’s first marriage ended. He then explains why Robbo’s here: Victor wants to know where Dylan Carter is. Robbo protests that he’s dead. Victor directs the men to strike him.
Roo is waiting at school as Mason and Raffy arrive. Roo says the other students have only just gone in so Raffy can join them. Mason offers to pick her up; Raffy says she’ll probably make use of the extra time so he says to give him a call. Raffy goes into the room, takes her seat and opens the paper. Back at the Morgan house, Justin and Mason discuss the situation. Justin wants to find a way to help Raffy but Mason thinks all they can do is hope the trial gets its funding back or try and get her to Melbourne. Justin reminds him he was in favour of doing anything to help Raffy but Mason points out that got him on drug charges and nearly sent to jail.
Raffy starts to write an answer to one of the questions, then stops. She tries to read the rest of the paper but gets confused trying to follow the questions and ends up bursting into tears. Roo sees her through the window and leads her to the office. She offers to give her a breather and then take her back in. Raffy however says her mind just went blank and wants out of there. Roo takes her to John and Marilyn at the Diner. They suggest a misadventure plea but Raffy says Mason said it was all psychological. John thinks a change of medication would count. Justin arrives, having been called by Leah, and is shocked by the state Raffy is in.
Justin heads home and tells Mason that Raffy messed up the exam. He thinks they need to make CBD oil themselves. Mason reminds Justin how he was opposed to him doing that and thinks they need to help Raffy cope without it. Justin says Raffy didn’t mind Mason giving her the oil, and if Mason won’t help him then he’ll do it himself. Back at the Diner, Roo finishes a phone call with Maggie and tells Raffy, John and Marilyn that a reaction to a change of medication is grounds for misadventure: Raffy can either retake the exam or get a mark based on her past work. Mason arrives and tells Leah they have a problem.
Robbo reiterates what he knows: While working undercover, he found out Dylan was going to kill a cop testifying against him. They got into a fight and Robbo hit his head; he doesn’t remember exactly what happened, but the boat was found covered in Dylan’s blood. Victor produces photos of Jasmine, saying it’d be a shame if she went the way of Robbo’s family. He tells Robbo he has one week to find Dylan. Robbo is dragged back to the boat, protesting.
Leah finds Justin looking at a laptop and points out that he doesn’t know where to start making the oil. She tries to support him but Justin snaps that she’s as useless as he is. Meanwhile, Robbo lies unconscious in a boat, which is drifting in the middle of a large body of water.
