Will the Morgans get on board and support Brody in his decision? Bella frets that Raffy will blame her for Brody’s decision. Leah worries about blurring the lines with Justin.
Extended Summary
Raffy and Ryder approach Mason at the surf club and show him that Raffy got a B for her latest assignment, saying her grades have been improving since she’s been on the trial. Mason reminds them to keep their voices down when Ryder mentions the cannabis oil. Brody comes in and Mason tries to talk to him but Brody assumes the others have told him and snaps that he doesn’t need another serve, ignoring Mason’s confused attempts to understand. Meanwhile, Bella is sitting studying on a bench. Colby joins her, noting she’s doing History. He asks about her hanging out with her friends and Bella says she’d just stuff up again if she did, plus she’s got no help with Simone gone. Raffy and Ryder come up and ask Bella to hang out with them. Bella initially says she needs to do her work but Colby tells her to go, saying he’ll help her when she gets back.
Up in Salt, Brody complains to Simone about his family thinking he’s crazy. Simone suggests they just need time to let it sink in but Brody thinks they should support him. He decides to call the broker anyway. Meanwhile, Justin and Tori arrive home, wondering if they should call Brody. Tori is bewildered at him planning to move away with someone he’s only been with three months and Justin says if it goes wrong they won’t be there to pick up the pieces, with both of them agreeing they need to convince him to stay. Raffy, Ryder and Bella arrive to watch a movie but Ryder realises it’s a bad time and steers Bella back out again. Raffy asks what’s going on.
Mason comes into Salt and sits with Brody, asking if he’s going to apologise or at least explain to him what he’s done wrong. Brody is initially dismissive, but when Simone tells him the broker’s there and Mason reacts with confusion, Brody finally realises he doesn’t know and says he’ll explain later. Soon after, back home, Mason has been filled in by Justin and Tori, who explain Raffy’s upset. However, Mason doesn’t think they should try and stop Brody, saying he’s an adult and it’s his life. Justin and Tori are confused by his turnaround. Mason agrees he hates that Brody cheated on Ziggy but points out they’re the ones who wanted him to accept it. He says if it’s a mistake, they should let Brody make it. Justin and Tori say it took Brody ages to get back from his last mistake but Mason doesn’t think this is the same as taking drugs: Brody wants to be with someone he loves and making him choose between them won’t go well.
Leah and Roo are walking on the beach. Leah is still resistant to inviting Justin to the movie, saying their arrangement is pure fun and it’ll seem like a date, while Roo thinks she’s worried that it might be fun. They run into Ryder and Bella, who explain they left Raffy because of a Morgan drama. After the adults have gone, Ryder gets a text from Raffy saying Brody and Simone are leaving and predicts she will be devastated. Soon after, Bella goes up to the flat and tells Colby that Raffy’s going to hate her because Brody and Simone leaving is her fault. Colby tries to get her to do her schoolwork but Bella says she’s too stupid and goes to her room.
Colby meets Maggie at the Diner and asks about her progress getting a replacement substitute teacher, saying he doesn’t want Bella to slide backwards. Maggie says she’ll make it a priority. At Salt, Brody tells Simone that things went well with the broker and reflects on giving the place up. He gets a text from Tori inviting them both to dinner. He wants to decline but Simone encourages him to spend time with his family while he can.
Justin buys a large quantity of dessert from Leah, explaining he’s got a big family to feed. Roo tries to prompt her to ask Justin out but Leah ignores her. They chat about Justin chilling out at the garage alone but he says he prefers one-on-one company. After Justin’s gone, Leah tells Roo she doesn’t want to blur the lines. Maggie and Colby come in and Maggie explains she has arranged for Roo to take over as support teacher temporarily, since she had experience in the Kimberleys. Meanwhile, Brody and Simone brace themselves outside the Morgan house only to enter and find Justin, Tori and Mason in their best clothes, with the table set up for a family dinner. Brody asks if this means they’re okay with it. They tell him he needs to work on Raffy but they want him to be happy. As they eat, Brody apologises to Mason for snapping earlier and Tori makes a short speech saying they love him and wish him well. Justin tries to pass the dessert off as his own but they recognise Leah’s blueberry crumble.
Colby tries to gee Bella up but Bella is convinced Raffy hates her, since she’s ignoring her texts. Colby tells her about Roo taking over but Bella seems unimpressed, saying Roo’s a normal teacher. Colby tells her not to overthink things with Raffy and just talk to her. After Colby leaves the room, Bella goes out. Meanwhile, Raffy is in her room upset. Brody comes in and apologises for not telling her himself. Raffy says she’s not bothered about that but about him leaving. Brody reminds her they missed her when she moved in with John and Marilyn but understood it was important to her. Raffy accepts that. Justin comes in with Bella and he and Brody leave the girls to it. Bella says she’s sorry but Raffy assures her she doesn’t hate her and only didn’t answer her texts because she was too busy freaking out.
Next morning, Colby calls out to Bella, saying she’ll be late for school. He goes to her room and finds it empty. He dashes outside in a panic, leaving Bella a phone message…only to find her a few yards away with Raffy and Ryder. They explain they simply called round early so they could walk to school together. Soon after, the three of them arrive at school and arrange to meet for a swim later. Maggie and Roo approach Bella, formally explaining that Roo will be putting time aside to work with her. Roo offers to meet with Bella at recess. Looking over at Raffy and Ryder, Bella suggests she just tell her if she needs help.
Brody hangs a “Business For Sale” sign from the balcony at Salt. Simone joins him and has a waitress bring them some orange juice, toasting the future. Justin watches morosely from down below and Leah joins him, realising what he was down about the previous night. Justin asks her to come round his and she says she’ll be there in twenty. When she turns up, Justin greets her with a kiss and offers her a coffee. Leah says she’ll have one “after”, making for the bedroom, but Justin says he just wanted to talk. They realise they haven’t done that much lately. Justin notes the whole point of being friends with benefits is you stay friends. Leah agrees they need to talk about that.
