Extended Summary

Robbo bandages his leg but clutches his side in pain. He plays with Kat’s necklace before limping across to where his phone is charging. At the hospital, Ash is still sitting with Kat’s body. A nurse beckons Tori outside, saying someone has called about Kat: It’s Robbo. Tori tries to get him to come in but he’s only interested in news about Kat. Tori tells him she died and he lets the phone drop. Tori looks back in at Ash. Robbo collapses over the crib, knocking one side down, then curls into a ball, sobbing. Tori sees Ash leaving the room; he wants to find Robbo and ignores her advice to leave it to the police. Tori calls Justin.

Alf, John, Marilyn, Leah and Roo are walking near the surf club; Marilyn is particularly upset about Kat. Justin comes out and asks them if they’ve seen Ash, explaining he’s looking for Robbo and that Robbo was in the crash, although he doesn’t know how he got out of jail. Alf suggests looking where Robbo was last seen and Justin heads off for the accident site. Alf’s group head home but Marilyn convinces John they should help clean up Salt. Inside, Ben asks them if they’ve seen Maggie, since he isn’t even sure if she’s heard about Kat, but they can’t help.

Brody and Ziggy are arriving at the farm house; Ziggy is on the phone to Ben and calls out for Maggie without response. She heads into her room and Brody ponders the fact that Coco’s out as well. Ziggy emerges, having taken her dress off, and confirms they have the house to themselves. They kiss. Back at the surf club, Coco worries about Maggie while Ben does his best to reassure her. Unknown to them, Maggie is lying unconscious on the beach, a wound to her head, close to the water as the tide comes in.

Ash drives up to the accident site where McCarthy and other police officers are working. McCarthy admits they haven’t found Robbo but refuses to let Ash past the police barrier. Ash pushes him and Justin arrives, dragging Ash away. Ash insists that he wants answers, aggressively pushing Justin away several times, but eventually breaks down in tears as he says Kat and his boy are dead. Justin hugs him. Later, Tori is relieved as Justin and Ash arrive back at the Morgan house. Justin has a bag of Kat’s things that McCarthy gave him. Ash goes to bed and Justin tells Tori he’s in a bad wat and they can only be there for him. Tori goes into the room and sits next to Ash.

Ben and Coco are searching the wharf. Coco worries that Maggie’s had an accident; Ben says her car’s still at the surf club but Coco reminds him about Kat. They nearly walk past Maggie on the beach below but Ben sees her, dragging her out of the water and trying to rouse her. He tells Coco to call an ambulance. Later, Brody and Ziggy join the trio at the hospital; Maggie is now sitting up in bed with a plaster on her head. She says she left the party because she felt ill. Doctor Genner picks up on her being ill before she collapsed, with Ben pointing out she claimed to have tripped. Genner insists that since she has a concussion she stays in for observation, while Ben insists on staying with her. Brody volunteers to drive Ziggy and Coco home.

Tori wakes up and finds that Ash isn’t next to her. Justin finds him sitting on the beach while going surfing and asks if he wants to talk or to be left alone. Ash reflects on the fact that someone will have to tell Kat’s family that she died trying to save a scumbag. Justin says no-one will ever know why she did it but Ash thinks Robbo can tell them, saying he was there and ran off, leaving her to die. As he speaks, Robbo is slumped in the cottage, either asleep or unconscious, with Kat’s necklace on the floor nearby. Justin heads home and tells Tori that he thinks Ash needs to find Robbo in order to get answers. Justin thinks they should be kept apart. Justin asks about the address Robbo gave her. Tori says Kat had the slip and she doesn’t remember it…and given what happened when she told Kat, she won’t tell anyone anyway. After she’s gone, Justin searches Kat’s bag and finds the address in her purse.

Ben wakes up in a chair next to Maggie. Tori comes in and Maggie expresses her sympathies about Kat. Tori says Maggie’s x-ray was clear but the blood test showed her white cell count is up. It’s probably just a virus, and Maggie agrees she’s been tired lately, but she should come back in two weeks for another test as a precaution. At the farm house, Ziggy joins Brody as he cooks breakfast, with Coco pretending to throw up as they kiss and Ziggy making a joke about Coco’s “boyfriend”. Ben and Maggie return and Ziggy and Coco go to hug their mother while Ben looks less than happy to see Brody. Brody says breakfast is ready and Ben pointedly remarks on him wearing yesterday’s clothes, saying he gave his blessing but didn’t agree to sleepovers. Coco doesn’t help by adding there wasn’t much sleeping. Brody offers to go but Ben reluctantly acknowledges he’s part of the family now…sort of.

Tori comes home and finds Kat’s bag unpacked, quickly establishing that the address isn’t there. Meanwhile, John and Marilyn lay flowers at the bottom of the steps to the Diner flat. Alf and Roo join them. Marilyn thinks Kat’s death could have been avoided if she’d told people her suspicions about Robbo earlier but Alf and Roo say Kat just fell in love with the wrong man. Ash appears and looks at the flowers and stuffed animals before walking away. Justin draws up next to him, ignoring a call from Tori, and asks what he’d do if Robbo was there. Ash says he’d just ask why. Justin tells him to get in and they drive off.
