Chapter 24 The next morning at the Hunter house, Lucas has just arrived and is whispering to Matilda in the living room about Mattie’s plan, while Beth is eating breakfast in the kitchen. Matilda: So I had this idea last night Lucas: yeah...what is it? Matilda: I was thinking how about we go camping?... Lucas sniggers Beth: What are you sniggering about? Matilda: Erm...nothing. Lucas: Are you serious? Camping. Matilda: Well, why not? My mum and Tony have just had an arguement so I think if we went camping it could help...bring them together more. Lucas: You're serious arn’t you? Matilda: Try and stop me. Matilda and Lucas smile At Jack’s place, Tony has just woken up and staggers into the kitchen to make breakfast. Tony: Your up early aren’t you? Jack: Dad its ten O’clock Tony checks his watch Tony: Ah, I thought it was about 6am. Jack: Didn’t sleep too well last night then? Tony: Nah, I was thinking about the wedding too much I think. Tony sits down next to Jack with a bowl of cereal. Jack: Everything will be alright dad...I know it will. Tony smiles Jack: When Beth walks down that aisle your going to be the happiest guy in the world. Tony: Yeah mate, I will be. I think i’ll feel less stressed when we’ve set the date. Actuallly I might go round there now and have a chat to her about that. Jack: Just make sure you don’t set the date for a footie day dad. Tony: Ah mate, you don't need to wrry about that! Tony laughs at his son and goes to get ready. Matilda and Lucas are still scheming at the Hunter House. Beth comes over to listen in to what they are saying but they stop talking when she comes over. Beth: What are you two up to? Matilda: Nothing. Beth: Something’s telling me your lieing Mattie, I can always tell. Tony knocks at the door, Beth goes to answer it. Tony: Hey They kiss right in front of Luc and Mattie Lucas: Ewww...guys we’re right here. Beth: Sorry. Tony and Beth look at each other Matilda: ...We’re going to the beach. Lucas: Are we? Matilda: Yes we are...to talk about that thing you know Lucas: ...right, well we will see you guys later then Tony: Cya. Lucas and Matilda leave to go to the beach Tony: Good, now we can finally get on with planning this wedding. Tony smiles Beth leans in to kiss Tony Tony: What was that for? Beth: I just want you you to know how much you mean to me. Tony: Getting married is a pretty good way in my opinion. Beth: I agree, so shall we get started? Tony nodds and they sit down with the plans At the beach Lucas and Matilda are walking along Lucas: Sorry can you say that again? Matilda: Whats to say we organize mum and Tony a suprise wedding? You know something outside, but not on the beach. Lucas: Well, one I think you’re insane, two last night you wanted to arrange a camping trip and three why couldn’t they have a beach wedding? Matilda: When mum and Rhys got married their wedding was on the beach and I don’t think mum would be too keen on having another one like it. Lucas: I still think its a bad idea. Matilda: Aghh! What do I have to do to convince you? Lucas: Mattie, I just thing its too soon for them to be getting married, they’ve only just got engaged. Maybe give it some more time. Matilda: I can understand where youre coming from but they are going to get married eventually anyway so I don’t see there’s any reason to wait. Lucas: You’re not going to give up on this are you? Matilda: Not a chance! Lucas:...your still mad. Matilda: Okay so I may be mad but what do you say? Are you in?
