Chapter 25 Back at the Hunter house, Tony and Beth are still wedding planning Tony: I think we could do this for a living you know. Beth: What, wedding planning? You’ve got to be joking, its hard enough doing it for us let alone someone else. Tony: You might be right about that. I gotta have a cup of tea, do you want one? Beth: Yes please. Matilda and Lucas walk in the door and sit on the sofa with a huge smile on their face. Matilda: Hi mum Lucas: Hey dad Tony: ...Hi. Beth: Hello you two, what have you been up too? Matilda/Lucas: Nothing. Beth: Thats the second time, you’ve used that excuse today. Come on, whats going on? Lucas: Nothing, really. We’re just happy that we’ve finished our assignments. Tony: Ah, good for you. And here we are slaving it out over the wedding plans. Matilda: Yeah...Sorry the what? Beth: The wedding plans, we’ve been trying to work out who’s coming, who’s not coming, and everything else. Matilda gets up and walks over to where Beth and Tony are. Matilda: Is there any need to do that now? I mean you might not be getting married for ages yet. Tony: We just want to get everything done early so that we can enjoy being engaged. Matilda: But couldn’t you do that another time? I mean, nearer the wedding you know? Beth: Matilda, what is going on? And please don’t say nothing again because i’m not buying it. Lucas: We wanted to organize a suprise wedding for you. Beth and Tony both looked shocked. Teasers for upcoming chapters Matilda and Lucas have an arguement. Chapter 26 Matilda: Lucas, I wanted to be the one to tell her! Beth: I don’t know what to say.... Beth gets up to hug Matilda shortly followed by Tony Tony: It’s a lovely idea sweetheart, but I don’t know whether we quite want a suprise wedding considering all the work we’re putting in at the moment. Lucas: See, they don’t want one anyway Mattie so we might as well forget about it. Matilda: Lucas! I totally understand if you’re not cool with it but could we do something for you? Beth: That depends on what it is. Matilda: Lucas, can I speak to you please? Lucas: Yep. Matilda:...alone. Tony: Oh, well in that case we’ll leave you guys to continue your secret plans then. Matilda: Great, thanks. Tony leaves. Beth: Mattie, it’s a lovely idea but I just don’t know whether its very practical thats all. Matilda: Okay, me and Luc will scrap the wedding idea but we would still like to do something for you and Tony. Beth: Aww thank you sweet. I’m sure whatever you decide will be wonderful. Matilda: Ha ha, now go! Beth: Okay, okay. Beth leaves. Matilda: Why did you have to tell them Lucas? Lucas: It just kind of slipped out. Matilda: Maybe it was for the best anyway. The wedding plan thing was doomed from the start. Lucas: Yeah. What was the other thing you wanted to do though? Matilda: Ah, now this is were you come in. Beth and Tony are walking along the beach. Beth: So what do you think Mattie and Luc are up to? Tony: You know what? I have no idea! Beth: It’s nice that they wanted to do something for us, don’t you think? Tony: Yeah. Beth: You don’t sound too convinced. Tony: No, it’s not that. I was just thinking that it would be the type of thing me and brother would have done when we were younger. Beth: Ah, so your not so innocent either?. Tony: Hah, nope. Beth: So, spill what did you and brother get up to when you were younger? Tony: We were alway hatching plans and that sort of thing. Beth: Sounds like you two got on well then? Tony: Yeah, me and Matthew were always the two tearaway kids where we lived. Beth: Not much has changed then? Tony: Me, a tearaway? They both laugh Beth: I’d love to meet him, you know the whole meet the family kind of thing?. Tony: Actually, thats not a bad idea. We could invite him to our engagement party. Beth: That sounds like a good idea. Tony: Yeah, it’ll give me a chance to catch up with my little brother. The both smile Matilda and Lucas are sitting at the table with lots of screwed up paper around them. Lucas; Maybe we should go back to your original idea. Matilda: Which was? Lucas: The camping trip. Matilda: Well it is the best one that i’ve come up with so far, but what about you? You’re the writer, aren’t ideas supposed to just pop into your head? Lucas: Not quite. Writing is pretty different! In terms of ideas for what we can do for your mum and my dad, i’m stuck for ideas. Matilda: In that case. It looks like we’re going camping. Lucas: Excellent. Matilda: You could sound a little bit more enthusiastic! Lucas: How’s this then? Lucas gets up Lucas:...IT’S A FANTASTIC IDEA! Matilda: Better. But you didn’t need to shout! They both laugh as Lucas sits down. Lucas: Seriously its a great idea. Matilda: I’m glad you think so. Lucas: I love you. Matilda: I love you too. They kiss.
