Remi’s got big plans for Eddie. David gets a blast from the past. Tane and Jo fight fate.

Extended Summary

Jo is waiting outside the surf club. David approaches her and she says she’s having dinner with one of her favourite people. He says he is too (meaning each other). David comments that they’re eating early. Jo says she has plans later, claiming it’s with a friend from work but looking at Tane passing with Archie’s pram as she does so.

David and Jo head up to Salt where David briefly greets Cash at the bar. Jo exchanges texts with Tane saying they’re looking forward to meeting tonight. Cash rejoins Remi who says he didn’t know Eden wanted to be involved. Cash suggests visiting the studio and meeting Eddie has put it more in her face. Remi recalls having a conversation with Eden when it started but thought it was a joke. He says the label is about him moving on from Lyrik and Eden can’t be part of it.

Justin asks Sonny what he and Leah talked about. Sonny says they shared memories of Theo. Justin comments that Sonny knew Theo least and Sonny says she trusts him. Justin suggests that being with Sonny makes Leah feel close to Theo and it’s not doing her any favours. Meanwhile, Cash arrives home. Eden admits she keeps obsessing over not having music since Lyrik finished and notes Remi has something that’s important to him. Cash points out they have each other and suggests that’s enough.

Sonny and Remi are playing pool at the surf club. Remi asks what Sonny will do next time Leah turns up on his doorstep. Sonny wonders if Justin’s right that he’s making it harder. Remi says it’s already hard and he’d do the same if Leah called him. Changing the subject, he reminds Sonny to listen to Eddie’s tracks before the meeting tomorrow. Jo comes downstairs and, seeing Tane and Archie, says he’s cutting it fine if they’re meeting at eight. Tane says Harper just called to say her work thing’s been extended so he’ll have to look after Archie. He apologises, then retreats as David approaches. Jo says she was asking Tane about boot camp tomorrow and the friend she was meeting has been called into work.

Next morning, Sonny meets Justin after he’s been for a surf. Justin says it feels odd doing it alone. Sonny asks after Leah. Justin says she’s gone into work. Sonny says she hasn’t called him so suggests they’re worrying about nothing. Justin hopes so.

Cash greets Eden as she gets up and shows her the photo he’s chosen to blow up and frame. Eden says he was right and she needs to talk to Remi. Cash attempts to back track, asking her if it’s a good idea. Eden says she needs a thing that’s hers and Remi’s label is a natural fit. Cash tries to suggest it wouldn’t be her thing if it’s Remi’s but Eden says that’s how the music business works. Meanwhile, Sonny joins Remi outside the surf club. Remi complains about him being late again, although a moment later, Eddie turns up late too. Sonny compliments him on the songs and Remi says they have some options to launch him.

David is about to head off to work. He asks Jo if she has any plans for her day off. Jo says she’s just going to hang around the house and doesn’t feel like boot camp anymore. After David has gone, Jo rings Tane, who is walking Archie. Jo suggests she could come over to his place even though he has Archie but Tane says he’d love that but has an agreement with Harper. She says to let her know when Harper’s on the way home.

At Salt, Remi and Sonny tell Eddie they’ve got social media and journalists organised. Eddie reminds them they don’t have a studio but they suggest it gives them time to fine-tune songs and write some new ones. Eden arrives and asks to talk to Remi. Remi says he’s with a client but Eden sits down with them to wait. Remi takes her aside, saying he doesn’t know what Cash told her. Eden is confused by the remark but Remi just says Eddie’s his priority.

At the police station, Cash tells David the DPP have called about victim impact statements for Wendell’s sentencing hearing. He asks if he can do anything, offering to talk to Leah and Justin, but David says he’ll sort it. Eden turns up, saying she knows she’s not supposed to be there but needs to know if he spoke to Remi. Cash asks if he can take a break and David agrees it’s a good idea.

Outside the surf club, Sonny and Remi make last arrangements with Eddie. Sonny suggests the lead song should be either Blue Sky Blues or a slow one, which Eddie calls I’ll Be There. Remi says that would be his choice. Sonny wonders what it was about. Eddie says a friend was going through a hard time: He didn’t know how to help her and she shut him out. Sonny leaves and Remi apologises for Eden. Eddie says they’ve obviously got history and she helped out at the studio. As Eddie walks away, he sees David and calls out to him by name. They greet each other warmly.

Arriving home, Eden tells Cash that she didn’t ask him to get involved. Cash says he thought he was helping and obviously wasn’t. Eden says she wouldn’t have made a fool of herself if she’d know. Remi arrives and says he should have considered Eden but her life’s with Cash and this is his: They’re both excited about their futures and it’s okay to go their separate ways. He suggests there might be some session work in future, which she isn’t impressed with, and they’re still friends but he needs to do this alone. Eden reluctantly accepts it; Cash comforts her after Remi’s gone.

Justin arrives at the Diner flat in answer to a summons from Sonny. Sonny says he hasn’t heard from Leah. He’s decided he’ll let Justin know if Leah reaches out but will show up for her if she needs a friend. Justin accepts it. Sonny says he’s there if Justin wants to talk as well. Meanwhile, David and Eddie are walking in a park. David has filled him in on there being another driver and says Jo hasn’t had any panic attacks since the arrest. Eddie asks if she’s got anyone special in her life. David says not as far as he knows and she’s been pretty lonely but he hopes that’s about to change.

Jo runs into Tane and Archie at the surf club again and jokes that she should go home and have a nap. Tane says he wishes he could join her and she notes there wouldn’t be much sleeping. Tane says he doesn’t know when Harper’s back but will try and sort something. Tane runs into Cash in the street and asks if he can look after Archie tonight. Cash wonders if that’s wise given what happened last time he tried and Tane suggests not mentioning it to Harper. Cash realises it’s so he can see Jo and says he’ll tell Eden. Tane texts Jo suggesting they meet at the surf club at 7.00.

Jo is surprised to find David there when she arrives home and even more surprised when Eddie appears. He says David invited him back and David says he was going to call her but didn’t. He leaves them to it. Eddie says it’s been a long time and Jo agrees.
