Extended Summary

Abigail and Lacey are approaching the surf club having been shopping together. Lacey has bought some items to decorate her new room and reflects on having a room to herself again, noting it’s a new start. Abigail is pleased to have a distraction from everything that’s going on with Levi. Up in Salt, Bree tells Mackenzie she didn’t like giving evidence against Levi. Mackenzie says she couldn’t lie about seeing him hit someone. Abigail comes along and is shocked to hear Levi is in court. Mackenzie says he didn’t want anyone there. Abigail decides he’s not going to jail for a first offence. Bree says a conviction could mean having his medical license suspended. Mackenzie insists that’s not going to happen.

Jo asks Eddie what he’s doing in town and he explains about signing up to a record label. Jo asks what’s happened to teaching and he says he’s not giving up the day job yet. Jo is pleased for him. She gets a call that she says is work and goes into her room to take it. It’s actually Tane, who has just dropped off Archie at Cash’s and wonders if the date’s happening. Jo says she’s been called into work. Lacey arrives home and loudly greets Eddie, which Tane hears with Jo explaining it away. Lacey is pleased he’s with the label, explaining she used to live with Sonny. Eddie is pleased to see Lacey and Jo getting on again. Jo offers to show Eddie around town.

Mackenzie happily greets Levi as he arrives back at Salt. He tells her and Abigail that he got a 12 month good behaviour bond. They think that’s good news but he doesn’t want to celebrate. Later, Mackenzie brings him a coffee out on the balcony. She wonders if he’s worried about losing his license. Levi says it was hell listening to his colleagues read out their statements. Mackenzie asks if he’s worried about losing their respect and thinks they’ll be on his side. Levi decides to call the medical board and get the ball rolling.

Near the surf club, Jo tells Eddie about how Lacey disappeared and they had no idea where she was until David was transferred there. Eddie comments on how much better she seems. He asks if she’s thought about him since breaking it off, suggesting she was the love of his life. Tane exits the surf club and sees them together.

Later, Tane stops Lacey in the surf club, saying he saw Jo with a guy when she told him she was at work. Lacey wants him to ask Jo about it, but when he starts guessing, wondering if it was a relation, she admits Eddie is Jo’s ex. She says Jo didn’t summon him there, he turned up by coincidence, and it was David who invited him back to the house.

Back at the beach house, Eddie tells Jo about doing a last minute gig and being approached by Remi and Sonny. He recalls she always believed in him, even when he was playing to four people on open mic night. He says he missed her but at that point Lacey turns up and is surprised to see Eddie still there, saying she thought Jo had plans. Jo agrees it’s late and Eddie says he’ll let her know when he’s back in town. After he’s gone, Lacey wonders if she interrupted something. Jo isn’t sure. Lacey tells her Tane saw them together and she couldn’t lie.

Outside the surf club, Mackenzie asks Levi when he’ll hear back from the medical board. He isn’t sure. She suggests they at least be happy he’s home and that they need hope, pointing out they still have three embryos to implant and there’s nothing to stop them going ahead with the IVF. Levi is shocked and says he can’t talk about that now.

Next morning, Tane is taking Archie home and finds Jo waiting outside the house. She says she knows showing up there is against the rules but she needed to talk. Tane guesses she’s spoken to Lacey. Jo says seeing Eddie was nice but weird. Tane wonders if they should plan a date for when Harper’s back. Jo says she can’t and that seeing Eddie again brought up a lot.

Later, Tane and Jo are sat in the garden as Jo explains she needs to see where things could go with Eddie, saying he was her world once and she ended it when her mum died. Tane is disappointed but understands, saying he loved someone like that once. Archie starts cooing for attention and Jo decides to leave them to it.

At Salt, Mackenzie tells Bree what Levi said about worrying people would see him differently. Bree admits she does a bit but he’s still a good doctor and friend. Abigail joins them as Mackenzie notes Levi reacted strangely when she mentioned IVF. Abigail is shocked that she did but pretends she’s not. Soon after, Bree finds Levi sat in the park and says it’s a strange place to hide or lurk. She offers him someone to talk to, admitting she was disappointed in him but she’s let her personal life affect her work in the past.

At Salt, Mackenzie tells Abigail she’s had a text from Bree saying Levi’s with her. Tane comes in with Archie and Mackenzie immediately starts babbling to him about her problems with Levi. Tane suggests she could have said good morning first before understanding that Levi’s not ready to talk about IVF and suggesting they haven’t talked over their problems and what they’re going to do if it goes wrong again. Mackenzie thinks he’s in a bad mood but Abigail thinks he has a point.

At the Diner flat, Levi tells Bree that he’s gone from worrying the relationship is over to Mackenzie wanting to do IVF again. He adds that he hasn’t given up on the idea of having a family, he’s just not sure he’s ready. Bree says there’s no official timeline. She gets a phone call as Levi agrees and decides to go and talk to Mackenzie.

Mackenzie and Levi meet up near the beach. Mackenzie says he’s doing better than her and Levi notes they’ve swept a few things under the rug. Mackenzie says they need to focus on their relationship and doing another round was a dumb idea. She says they should forget the whole thing but neither of them look particularly happy.
