Extended Summary

Lacey brings some boxes down to Mali on the beach. He notes it’s good training for her next shopping trip, recalling how Abby came home carrying several bags. He also says it’s good to see her smile again. Up at the surf club, John is telling Dana and David that the thing he most liked about Paris was how cheap things were. David tries to leave with coffees but John stops to ask about Lacey. He also wonders how Justin and Leah are doing. David admits he hasn’t spoken to them much lately. The two of them walk out as Bree comes in and tells Dana they need to celebrate: She’s heard from the medical board and everyone in the ED will have a personal alarm connected to security and the police. Dana is delighted and Bree says she’ll get champagne and meet her at their place.

At the Diner, Alf tells Leah and Marilyn he’s spoken to Martha and Roo, who both sent their love and are checking out galleries and wineries. After Leah has left the table, Alf and Marilyn comment on how she seems happier. John comes in and Leah comes out to greet him. He hopes Justin passed on his condolences. Leah suddenly gets upset and goes back in the kitchen. Alf finds her looking teary.

Levi and Mackenzie turn up at Salt. Bree tells them about getting the personalised alarms and thanks Levi for his support. She notices Levi seems a bit down but he tells her to get off and celebrate. Afterwards, he tells Abigail that Mackenzie doesn’t want a family with him. Downstairs, Abigail complains to Mali and tries to get him to talk to Mackenzie but he thinks they’re better off staying out of it. Nearby, John runs into Lacey, saying David said she was feeling better. Lacey says you get used to it. John says he upset Leah earlier and asks her to say sorry. Lacey admits they’re not talking and Leah blames her. John thinks that’s unfair and Lacey repeats that you get used to it.

Alf takes Leah home where she notes he must be fed up looking after her. He asks her to put the kettle on and offers to stick around until Justin comes back from counselling but Leah convinces him she’ll be okay and he agrees that there’s probably something to do at the surf club. Leah goes over to the table and looks at the photo from the wedding.

David arrives home to find Lacey putting leftovers in the fridge. He admits he meant to speak to her and Jo earlier but it’s been busy. He explains about the DPP getting in touch about Wendell’s sentencing hearing and that they’re looking for victim impact statements. Meanwhile, Bree arrives home to find the flat is full of guests. Dana explains she posted the news about the alarms on the nurses’ group chat. One of the nurses thanks her, calling her Doctor Cameron, and she says it’s Bree at home.

John complains to Alf about no-one letting him know what the situation was with Leah and Lacey. Abigail approaches Levi, encouraging him to talk to Mackenzie, and Mali reluctantly admits he’d be better off being straight with her. Mackenzie comes downstairs and Levi asks her why she doesn’t want a family.

Lacey says she thought Wendell pleading guilty would be it. David says Wendell’s definitely going to jail but he’s got a good reputation, has shown remorse and has a good defence team, so they need to show what impact he had. Lacey isn’t keen on sitting across from him. David tells her she could record it. Lacey agrees but points out she’s not the only victim.

Dana makes a speech thanking Bree and saying it’s difficult to stand up to bosses and demand changes, which makes her a bold courageous inspiring person. Bree’s phone rings and she puts it on silent as Dana proposes a toast, but immediately looks at it afterwards. Meanwhile, Leah has framed the photo and puts it up on a shelf. David arrives and explains about the sentencing and the victim impact statements. He says Cassandra and Lacey are doing them but she might like to as well. The hearing could be next week so it would need to be done as soon as possible.

Mackenzie tells Levi that she meant for them to be on the same page and she only meant put their plans on pause, not forget about it altogether. She explains that she’s been unfair to him and they need their relationship to be strong so it doesn’t happen again if it doesn’t work again. She tells him she loves him and he reciprocates.

The nurse from before asks Dana where the guest of honour is since they want a photo. Leah turns up looking for Sonny, and Dana says he’s away with Remi. Leah asks her to let him know she was looking for him. Bree emerges from the bedroom and tells Dana she’s going for a walk. Dana instead shuts down the party, saying they’re going to Salt. The nurse congratulates Bree as they leave, now calling her Doctor Bree.

David has returned home and tells Lacey he doesn’t think Leah will do the statement. Lacey is still willing to do it and David says he’ll bring the camera home to record it. Meanwhile, Leah is walking through a park, still trying to get through to Sonny on the phone. Lacey comes running after her and Leah reminds her she wants nothing to do with her. Lacey wants to talk about the victim impact statement, saying it’s going to be hell but Theo doesn’t have a voice anymore and they need to speak for him, suggesting they could do it together.

Dana is shocked that Bree has been scouted by Doctors Without Borders. Bree explains that one of the people on the medical board is also on the selection panel and they want her to apply. She recalls that she applied before but was lacking in confidence and didn’t want to do long distance with Remi. Dana points out those problems don’t exist anymore.

David is setting up the camera at home for Lacey, who is nervous about putting what she wants to say into words. As they’re about to start, Leah turns up and says Theo needs them to speak up and she’s ready to make a statement.
