Extended Summary

Theo finds Remi sitting outside the surf club and congratulates him on the label. Remi explains he’s just had an awkward encounter with Bree. Theo suspects this isn’t a good time to say that he’s just booked a holiday for himself and Lacey and is about to tell her and celebrate. Remi tells him Lacey isn’t at the surf club. Theo assumed that her not turning up for dinner meant she was working late.

At the hospital, Bree tells Harper and Dana that the scans show no sign of damage to the lens or retina but she’s ordering a CT to check for fractures and has also given her some eye drops to prevent infection. However, Harper will need to see a specialist and stay in overnight. Harper asks Dana to tell Tane he’s looking after Archie for longer. Dana intends to stay with Harper but says she’ll give Tane a call. She runs into Sonny and tells him to go home with Bree. Sonny wants to stay with her but Dana says he’s done enough.

Theo is leaving a phone message for Lacey, asking what’s going on, as Bree and Sonny arrive home. He worries that she’s not back. Sonny pours the champagne away without explanation before heading to bed. Theo asks Bree what’s going on. Back at the hospital, Dana tells Harper that Tane’s fine. Harper asks what would happen if the lens or retina was damaged. Dana admits that it would require surgery and no surgery has a 100% success rate. She tells her not to imagine the worst case scenario but Harper thinks her life is a series of worst case scenarios.

Next morning, at the coffee cart, Leah chats to Marilyn about Theo’s new suit, which she paid for. She asks Sonny about him and Lacey, and he says he hasn’t seen them this morning. Remi comes along and asks Sonny if Bree’s at home. He decides to go to work to see her, because he wants to ask about why she’s not going to the wedding. Sonny indicates it’s because of Remi.

Bree arrives at the hospital to be greeted by Dana, who says there were no fractures but the scans did show a collection of blood behind the eye. The specialist said to reassess in the morning. Bree checks on Harper and notes her eye is still swollen; she is also in pain and hardly slept. Bree decides to send her for another scope just to make sure.

Theo is looking over the unanswered texts he’s sent Lacey. He is just calling David when Lacey arrives back. Theo insists she tell him what’s going on. She says she went to the house of the guy who might have killed her mum. Theo asks if she turned up on his doorstep. Lacey says she sat outside his house all night and asks for a shower and coffee before talking further. Theo goes to the coffee cart and orders two coffees with an extra shot for Lacey, saying she didn’t sleep much. Leah and Marilyn ask how she reacted to the holiday. Theo says he hasn’t told her yet because she only got home five minutes ago.

Theo arrives back at the flat. Lacey shows him the photo of Wendell she got from David’s evidence board, admitting she went back there a second time. She says her phone died and she spent ages watching his house and saw him walking his dog. She makes a phone call to Wendell claiming to be Georgia Delvy, a podcaster doing reports on local issues. Later, she expresses frustration that he won’t talk to her. Theo tries to convince her to drop it and let David handle it but she refuses and wants to call his office. She tells Theo to go and leave her to it.

Sonny and Remi turn up at the hospital; Sonny has a bunch of flowers and a balloon while Remi has come to see Bree. Bree is telling Harper and Dana that the specialist has gone home but she’s going to get whoever’s on call to come and see her. She runs into Sonny and Remi and learns that Remi’s there to see her, refusing to talk to him. Sonny gives Dana a change of clothes and gets an update on Harper needing to see a specialist again.

Later, Bree talks on the phone to someone who says the specialist’s on the way. She finds Remi is still there. He apologises for ambushing her and says he’s just waiting for Sonny to give him a lift home. Bree agrees to talk to him. Sonny makes jokes to Dana about getting shut eye and putting a cork in it. Dana asks if he thinks he’s being funny and tells him to go home. Remi chats to Bree in her office, telling her that Cash and Eden invited her and want her there. Bree doesn’t feel up to it, saying they’ll end up at the bar or on the dance floor together. Remi asks if they’ll ever be friends. Bree says exes aren’t.

Theo has just been surfing and gets a text from Lacey agreeing to a coffee at Salt. Remi and Sonny come along and he asks about Harper while saying he still hasn’t spoken to Lacey yet. Remi says Sonny’s not the only one having a bad day and Sonny says Dana was right about him and he needs to stop making jokes and step up.

Dana gets a text from Tane saying Archie’s fine and tries to reassure Harper. The specialist, Michael Westaway, meets with Bree, who insists on seeing his ID given the security problems they’ve had lately. She briefs him and leads him to Harper, where she and Dana leave them alone.

Theo and Lacey arrive at Salt. Theo insists he’s got Lacey’s back but also wants her to drop it, since she failed to get a meeting again. Lacey is frustrated but eventually agrees that she’ll let David handle it. However, she looks uncomfortable while he’s getting coffee. Meanwhile, Dana arrives home and tells Sonny she’s just having a break while the specialist is seeing Harper. Sonny tells her he was trying to cheer her up but didn’t read the room. Dana is initially appreciative, until she finds the empty champagne bottle. She assumes he drank it all last night and storms out.

On the balcony at Salt, Lacey apologises for worrying Theo, who goes to help Leah. Once he’s gone, Lacey calls Wendell, still calling herself Georgia, and tells him she really wants to talk about what he was doing at Baxter Creek the day Kristina Langham was killed, and if he doesn’t talk to her, she’ll talk to the media.
