Harper can’t face the truth. Jo brings her plan to David. Sonny second guesses himself.

Extended Summary

Bree runs into Jo outside the surf club. After exchanging pleasantries, Bree tells Jo about her plan to challenge the hospital admin and asks if she’s got her support. Jo agrees but without much enthusiasm. After a bit of pushing, she explains she’s got a lot on her mind but will do whatever Bree needs. Meanwhile, Harper is getting dressed up and putting on make-up in her room but looks miserable.

Remi re-enters the Lyrik house, explaining that the estate agent agrees they should buy instead of renting. He and Justin settle down to look at the options but Sonny doesn’t show much interest, saying it’s not really his field of expertise and he’ll leave them to it. Remi is confused but Justin is dismissive. Meanwhile, Tane is looking after Archie and compliments Harper when she enters dressed up, asking where they’re going. Harper says they’ll just go to Salt for something to eat. She tries claiming that Archie is hot and she should reschedule but Tane thinks he’s fine and says he’ll call her if anything changes.

David is giving instructions to another officer at the police station when Jo turns up with lunch. David says he has to put through an application for a search warrant but suggests she wait in his office, guessing she must be there for a reason. Jo settles herself, looking at the case file and a family photo. At the coffee cart, Roo tells Marilyn that the fostering co-ordinator told her they’ve found a place for the boy and she hasn’t heard back from Cohen. Harper turns up and Marilyn guesses she’s on a date, even though she doesn’t give any details, and offers her a peppermint tea. Roo points out Harper hasn’t said it’s a date but Marilyn says no-one does a smokey eye in the middle of the day unless there’s a man involved…except her. Harper sits, looking awkward.

At the Diner flat, Bree tells Dana there’s a security breach every week. Dana agrees to support her. Sonny arrives and asks them for three words to describe him. Dana offers “life of the party”, then realises that’s four. Bree says showman, show-off and sunny and he’s the person she’s most likely to get arrested with. Dana offers “Peter Pan complex”.

David joins Jo in his office and asks what’s going on. Jo says she’s been thinking about what he said: The case remains inconclusive unless she can remember something. David suspects it will come back to bite him but thinks there’s nothing she can do to change that. Jo explains she wants to try hypnotherapy.

Marilyn stops by Harper’s table and wonders if she’s early or her date’s late. Harper simply says it’s just her for the moment and Marilyn goes back to gossiping to Roo. Dana arrives and is amused to realise Harper is on a fake date. Harper says Tane was being nice. Dana wonders if she should book a fake wedding. Harper says she’ll tell Tane in a couple of days that it fizzled out.

At the surf club, Remi runs into Tane, who has brought Archie in while he unblocked a sink. He doesn’t want to head upstairs since he thinks Harper’s there on her date. Remi is meeting Sonny there and offers to keep an eye on things but Tane declines. Remi notes Sonny has been odd. He joins him upstairs and tries to ask him about his odd behaviour. Sonny rambles about having a Peter Pan complex and being the life of the party before blurting out that he can’t do the job. Remi asks where this has come from. Sonny is silent for a moment before saying he’s not the right person.

David tells Jo there’s no guarantee of success. Jo says he’s the one that reopened the case and David says he didn’t go rummaging around in her head for evidence and doesn’t want her to be traumatised further. Jo thinks it’s worth a try if there’s the slightest chance of learning something and says it’s something she has to do.

At the Diner flat, Dana is shocked that Sonny turned down the job. Sonny says he doesn’t want to spoil it for Remi. He reminds her that she said he had a Peter Pan complex and Bree said he’d get her arrested. Dana says those were compliments and he’s also smart, loyal and generous and Remi knows what he’s like. Sonny comments that she actually likes him.

Down in the Diner, Marilyn and Roo enter, with Roo saying Cohen has sent her a text (meaning he has a phone) and invited her to visit but she’s not sure if she should. Marilyn notices Harper sat on her own on the veranda. Tane turns up with Archie and they note he doesn’t come in there often. He notices Harper and asks why she isn’t at Salt with Drew. Harper admits there never was a date.

Jo and David are walking by the beach with David trying to get Jo to reconsider. He approaches Bree and asks what she knows about hypnotherapy. Bree admits there’s not been many studies done on memory retrieval. Jo explains about wanting to get the memories and says not knowing what happened is just as traumatic as getting them. Bree offers to get her a list of people with good reputations.

Back at the Diner, Harper has been explaining to Tane, saying this was going to be the last date then she’d be put off by Drew’s shirt or he’d have died. Tane suggests he get a pizza and they watch a movie at home. Marilyn comes over looking for a cuddle with Archie but Tane says he’s about to have a feed. Harper says she’ll meet him at home. Marilyn goes back to Roo with the latest on the “date” before saying Roo and Cohen want to see each other so she should go. Roo doesn’t want to get in the way with Adrian.

Justin turns up at Remi’s place and Remi wonders if he knows why Sonny doesn’t want the job anymore. Justin admits to telling him he should step aside if he couldn’t take it seriously. Remi says he wants Sonny on board because he’s out there. Sonny turns up and Remi brings him and Justin together, saying they’re not chartered accountants and he hired Sonny because they need him. Justin accepts that and apologises. They shake hands and Sonny agrees he’s in. Remi says that was harder than it had to be and Sonny asks where they’re at with the go-kart track.

Tane finds Jo drinking alone at Salt. She explains about her plan to try hypnotherapy and that David’s trying to talk her out of it. She asks what he’d do and Tane says he’d do anything if he thought it would help his family. Back at the Diner, Marilyn says goodbye to Archie as Harper dodges her questions about her “mystery man”. Roo stops Harper for advice, saying she’s not sure if it’s right to visit Cohen. Harper suggests talking to Adrian and going if he’s okay with it.

Jo arrives back at the police station and David realises she’s going to ignore what he said. Jo says there’s no alternative: She doesn’t want to carry on having panic attacks or having Lacey hate her and he needs closure, so she’s doing it.
