Extended Summary

Remi is playing his guitar outside the surf club. Levi wonders if he’s blown his fortune already but Justin says he’s not busking (his guitar case is closed and upright), just playing. Levi is slightly bemused and goes to take some food to Mackenzie. At the Diner flat, Bree returns home and tells Dana that hospital admin nodded a lot but it was a waste of time; they were too busy giving the impression of listening to hear anything. Harper comes in and Bree is surprised. Dana tries to get her to go home but Bree heads off to bed. Harper wants a sleepover. Dana knows she’s only there because she wants Tane to think she’s sleeping with Drew. Harper refuses to go and starts flicking through the channels.

Tane is telling Archie some Maori folklore and family history, about how Maui’s giant fish and canoe formed islands. He gets a text from Harper saying she won’t be home tonight. Meanwhile, Levi returns home and tells a somewhat subdued Mackenzie about how Remi was drawing a crowd outside the restaurant. He asks if she’s okay. Mackenzie says every time she’s asked that she thinks about the egg retrieval, which she’s trying to forget about.

Next morning, Harper and Dana are walking through a park with Dana suggesting Harper could have borrowed some clothes from her instead of wearing the same dress. Harper says she needs Tane to think she’s doing the walk of shame. Dana calls it insane. Harper argues that Tane stopped seeing Jo because of her and won’t move on unless he thinks she has. Dana tells her to go home and tell the truth.

Remi finds Sonny in the houise eating breakfast, having just got back and not even got home yet. Remi says he’s not going to ask about Bree and tells him about the big offer: He wants Sonny to be head of marketing for the record label. Sonny is somewhat bewildered, thinking he’s not qualified, but Remi reminds him how he always used to drum up a crowd for Lyrik, putting up posters and social media and calling up radio stations. Sonny agrees.

Levi and Mackenzie head out to the car. Mackenzie remains subdued. Levi says she’ll have to tell him how she is. Mackenzie says she really wants this but this is where it went wrong last time. Meanwhile, Harper arrives home to find Tane there with Archie in his bouncy chair. She picks Archie up as Tane says he was about to feed him if she wants to freshen up. Harper starts to tell him something but Tane says if Drew makes her happy then she can go on as many dates as she wants. Harper looks awkward.

Bree is on the phone to Keith, arranging a lunch date, and explaining to Dana he will have some idea of how security works. Sonny arrives and says the hats and robes at his brother’s graduation freaked him out but they went on a bender afterwards. He adds that he has a business meeting with Remi and Justin. Bree realises it’s to do with the record label while Dana looks bewildered.

Levi and Mackenzie pull up outside the house. Mackenzie is tired from the sedation wearing off and is still preoccupied thinking about the last time. Levi says there’s more eggs this time. Mackenzie points out that doesn’t matter if they don’t fertilise and tells him not to reassure her. Levi suggests she gets some rest.

On the balcony at Salt, Keith apologises to Bree for her getting hurt. Bree asks why no security came. Keith says there was a fight in the car park and an incident at the pharmacy at the time. Bree asks if they can’t handle more than two incidents. Keith says management won’t pay for more staff but they couldn’t do anything anyway: Hospital policy is that they’re just a visual deterrent and can only call the police, otherwise they could lose their jobs. He shows her a folder.

Justin and Remi are walking past outside. Justin is a bit sceptical about Sonny joining them but Remi says he always used to draw a crowd for the Lyrik gigs, turning up with a hundred new best friends. They see Bree and Keith on the balcony. Remi decides to go somewhere else and message Sonny to meet at his place.

Inside, Sonny gets Remi’s message. Dana is disappointed that she won’t get to have a cocktail and watch his meeting. Tane comes in as Sonny is leaving. Dana asks him if Harper spoke about her date. Tane says he assumes it went well and asks her about Drew. Increasingly babbling, Dana says Harper says he’s great and they’re going out again tonight, leaving Tane believing he needs to babysit. Meanwhile, Mackenzie is sat at the pavilion. Levi brings a tray out and she apologises for being down recently.

Justin and Remi chat about seeing Bree with another man before Sonny joins them and complains about not getting to put it on the expenses account. Remi says they need to decide about renting an office and recording space. Justin suggests they buy something outright so they can make changes. Sonny doesn’t look too interested and goes to get some food from the fridge. Justin looks somewhat annoyed.

Keith is showing Bree the file full of incidents in recent years. They include an occasion when the hospital apologised to an unruly visitor, and the armed hostage incident where a doctor was killed with no attempts to improve security afterwards. Bree is determined to make some changes. Keith wishes her luck but warns her not to get her hopes up.

Justin and Remi are looking over places that are available on the laptop. Sonny points to a large warehouse, saying they can install arcade machines and a go-kart track to get people interested. Remi agrees it might be an idea to give artists a place to chill but Justin calls it a waste of money. Sonny suggests a ping pong table.

Dana rushes into the Parata house and tells Harper that she knows she lied to Tane so she was a loyal sister and stuck by it and told him she has another date tonight. Harper is horrified, saying that makes it worse. Tane comes home and Dana quickly leaves. Tane asks if her date means another night of him alone with Archie. Harper tries saying it’s not fair on him and she’ll cancel but Tane insists she go.

Justin tells Remi they should start with established acts who can pay the bills. Sonny, however, thinks they should focus on people no-one’s paying attention to; Remi can foot the bill, they’ll sign them up for minimal outlay and make a packet when they go big. Remi gets a call from the real estate agent and goes outside. Justin asks Sonny if he really wants to be there because Remi needs to make it work. Sonny says Remi doesn’t mind his ideas. Justin says Remi’s fond of him and asks him if he can take it seriously.
