Remi’s on a new venture. David makes a shocking discovery. Dana tempers Harper’s expectations.

Extended Summary

Remi is doing a workout on the beach, running with some weights on his back. Dana watches him from his buggy as he starts doing press-ups. Theo notices her attention and wonders if he should tell Sonny he has competition. He suggests Remi’s an example to them and Dana drily notes she’s always wanted to run across sand carrying more sand. Theo approaches Remi to say hi but declines to join him.

At the Lyrik house, Eden is on the phone to Cash and hears that Gary is doing well. She admits that she could do him with as a sounding board for the wedding stuff. Remi comes home and says Cash will need to up his game. Eden says Cash says dream on. She signs off the call and Remi invites her to join him for his post-workout breakfast.

Jo argues that a specialised team worked on the case before. David says they can still make mistakes and Lacey agrees. David stresses that he’s not expecting to find anything incriminating, he just wants them to move on. He says he won’t look into it at home but Jo tells him to and is prepared to answer any questions. David goes to get some coffees. Jo asks Lacey if she’ll accept it if David doesn’t find anything. Lacey is convinced he will.

At the coffee cart, Harper is finishing her conversation with Drew, telling him to text her the details. She tells Leah that their date last night was the best one she’s ever been on. Dana turns up, hoping for a cuddle with Archie, and Harper explains Tane’s taken him away to see family for a few days. Dana asks about her boyfriend. Harper says he’s not her boyfriend yet as she gets the text.

Remi tells Eden that it’s tough staying away from Bree but it was the right thing for both of them. Eden asks what he’s going to do with his spare time. Remi suggests working out but Eden points out he was doing that before Bree was attacked and she’s too busy with the wedding to start their duo. Remi concludes he needs to get a proper job. Eden says he’s youngish, rich and commitment free.

At the Diner, Theo asks Lacey if she’s going to accept whatever David finds. Leah comes along and they tell her David’s looking into the case again. Leah comments on him seeming stressed lately. Theo asks Lacey what will happen if Jo’s right and David doesn’t find anything. Lacey insists that people don’t just drive into trees and he’ll find out Jo’s to blame.

David is looking through the papers at home. He closes the file when Jo comes in and she says it’s fine. David says there’s no record of who called in the accident and no statement from them. Jo says she always assumed it was just a passing motorist. David says they might be a witness. He makes a call requesting the recording. Meanwhile, Harper and Dana are walking through a park area. Harper is raving about Drew, with Dana noting it’s usually her gushing about a guy after one date. Harper gets besotted at another text.

Remi is idly strumming his guitar and Eden tries to get him to join the wedding planning. Remi gets an alert on Kirby’s socials that her single is in the Top 10 in Denmark. Eden calls it random but cool and wonders if Queen Mary put in a word. She says Remi gets some of the credit for producing it. Meanwhile, Jo parks her car and gets out but runs into Lacey and Theo, with Lacey calling it a huge weight lifted off her. Jo starts breathing heavily and runs off, prompting Lacey to dub her a drama queen. Jo sits in her car and has flashbacks to being in the car with her mother’s body.

David turns up at the Diner and asks for a long black. Leah explains Theo and Lacey told her what’s going on and expresses sympathy. David gets an alert that he’s been sent the 000 call. Leah gives him the coffee on the house. David arrives home and plays the recording…and hears Jo’s voice, saying that they’ve had an accident and her mum isn’t breathing.

Eden is chatting to Remi about wedding arrangements as they walk towards the surf club but he isn’t really listening. He says it’s occurred to him that, aside from Lyrik, the only time he’s felt fulfilled was producing Kirby’s album. He’s decided he wants to do more of that by starting his own record label. Eden notes he’ll have to wait until after the wedding to sign her up. Nearby, Theo tries to convince Lacey that Jo was upset but Lacey thinks she’s just scared of finding out. Meanwhile, Jo arrives home. David sits her down and tells her it was her that made the 000 call. Jo tries to deny it, insisting she’d remember if she’d done that. She tells David to play it for her.

At the Parata house, Harper shows off the slinky black dress she’s selected for her date to a subdued Dana. Dana argues that they’ve only had one date. Harper protests that Dana pushed her into this and is now upset that she’s found someone she likes. Dana suggests that Harper is getting too invested too quickly. Harper says she didn’t even feel this way about Tane at the start and asks Dana to let her enjoy it.

Theo and Lacey arrive back at the Diner. Leah asks Theo to join her in the back to help her take things off the top shelves. Once there, she asks Theo about the investigation. Theo says he thought it was a good idea at first but it’s making them stressed. Leah wonders if Lacey knows the effect it’s having on David, saying it can’t just be about her. She then realises Lacey has walked in; Lacey leaves, looking upset.

David plays the recording for Jo. (At the same time, Lacey is standing on the beach.) This time, the recording goes on and they hear Jo saying that her mother doesn’t have a pulse and she can’t get to her to do CPR. David stops it but Jo gets him to play it again.
