Extended Summary

Cash and Eden are walking along the beach. Eden is leaving messages for Remi to ring her. Cash suggests she could just wait for him to come back but Eden wants to get it over with. They run into Sonny, and Eden asks him if he’s heard from Remi. Her evasiveness clues him into the fact something’s going on. Cash suggests he might be useful for a second opinion and Sonny says they can buy him breakfast.

At the Diner, Alf tries to get Cohen to get something for breakfast, since he didn’t eat much dinner. Marilyn comes over and Alf orders a cuppa, with Marilyn convincing Cohen to get a milkshake. Cohen asks if they should get something for Roo, saying she’s been gone all morning. Alf is evasive about where she is and Marilyn sends Cohen to make the milkshake. Alf says he doesn’t like lying to him.

Roo drives along a country road and parks outside a propery that looks more like a warehouse or workshop than house. She knocks on the door until Adrian emerges from the workshop. Roo says he doesn’t get to walk away from his son. Although calm and polite, Adrian refuses to talk to her and tries to walk her back to her car. Roo says she’s not going until he gives her a reason. He simply says she’ll be waiting for a long time.

At Salt, Sonny is astonished that Eden’s going to kick Remi out when he’s going through a bad break-up, even politely. Eden says she and Cash have to think about the future. Cash points out that Remi’s paid a year’s rent, which Sonny calls even more brutal. Eden gets a text from Remi saying he’s back and heads off to meet him, declining Cash’s offer to go with her. Cash runs into David and apologises for trying to get him to release Adrian’s address. David says he’s no idea what he’s talking about and Roo’s probably halfway down the highway. Cash looks confused.

Eden arrives home and calls out to Remi, who appears and starts searching the cupboards. Eden says she’s got rid of the alcohol. Remi says he’s got a headache and Eden says it’s a hangover, telling him where the painkillers are. Remi asks why she summoned him. Eden says they can’t talk when he’s like this, telling him to freshen up while she gets him something to eat.

Roo sends a text saying “No luck with Adrian so far.” She asks Adrian what changed. Adrian says he just realised he has no idea how to be a dad. Roo says Cohen doesn’t think that. Adrian says Cohen doesn’t know him and Roo says he wants to. Adrian thinks he’d mess it up. Roo suggests they have a chat so he can get things off his chest.

Eden has put some food down in front of Remi but he continues to wonder what all this is about. Eden says she’s going to get married soon and things are going to have to change. After a bit of hesitation, she says she wants him to move out. Remi says it’s his house and he’s not moving, storming out of the room. At Salt, Cash asks Sonny if he’s heard anything from Remi. Sonny says Eden’s not in danger and wonders why she’s doing this. Cash decides he can’t wait anymore and is surprised when Sonny decides to go with him.

Eden bangs on Remi’s bedroom door before she walks in on him. Remi says she can go and play happy little housewife but he won’t pay for it. Eden says she’s been looking after him for weeks. Cash and Sonny arrive as Remi says Eden has found a new guy to sponge off. Cash says they’re done and Remi agrees, calling Eden a selfish freeloader. Cash squares up to him and Sonny steps in, sending Cash and Eden away.

Outside the surf club, Alf tells Cohen he doesn’t have to do jobs today but Cohen insists, so Alf suggests he wash the buggy. David, who has come up behind them, says there are laws against child labour and Alf say he won’t tell if he doesn’t. He sends Cohen to get the stuff and tells David that Cohen knows Adrian left but not that Roo’s gone after him. David is surprised she’s doing it, given she wanted to adopt Cohen.

Adrian leads Roo into his workshop. He is making a number of chairs and a table for his mum. He says he wasn’t always the easiest son. Roo asks what she thinks of him having a son. Adrian admits she doesn’t know. Roo guesses that’s why he got nervous when Cohen wanted to meet them. Adrian doesn’t know how he’d explain it to her and repeats that he doesn’t think he can be a father. He thinks Roo’s a natural. Roo says she doubts herself all the time and thinks that’s normal.

At the surf club, Alf thanks David for his help with the address and David tells him not to mention it…please. He wonders what the plan is if Adrian doesn’t come back. Cohen comes up behind them as Alf says if anyone can bring Adrian back then Roo can. Cohen excitedly interprets this as Adrian coming back and says he knew he wouldn’t leave him. Alf and David sit him down and try to explain that they don’t know if Adrian’s coming back but Cohen is insistent that he is. Meanwhile, Adrian tries to get Roo to let him get back to work and tells her he can’t do what she does. Roo says she doesn’t understand but Adrian thinks she’d be a better parent to Cohen.

Cash and Eden are walking through a park. Eden says she’s been looking after Remi for weeks and has a wedding coming up. Cash tells her not to use their wedding as an excuse. He understands things have been tough. Eden says nothing she does works and she can’t watch Remi doing this to himself. Cash suggests she tell Remi that.

Remi is packing a bag, saying he only came back because Eden asked him to. Sonny tries to talk him out of leaving. Remi said at his parents’ place he had no-one to hassle him. Sonny says Eden cares about him and he’d be an idiot to throw it away. Later, Remi is sat on his own as Eden arrives home. Eden says he’s right that it was wrong of her to tell him to move out so she’s going to move out as soon as she and Cash find somewhere. She tells him she can’t watch him doing that.

Roo calls Alf to tell him she’s on her way home. She says Adrian says he’s not interested but she thinks he’s not being honest with himself, although there’s nothing she can do. Alf tells her that Cohen is convinced she’s bringing Adrian back and suggests they come up with a way of telling him. However, Roo wants to get Adrian to change his mind. She tries to talk to Adrian but he shuts the door on her.
