Remi’s stressed ahead of his gig at Salt. Abigail’s in trouble. Dana and Sonny clash.

Extended Summary

Mackenzie and Bree admire a sign outside the surf club advertising the live music. Remi comes over and Mackenzie checks they’re okay. Remi says they’re a bit rusty and it might be an idea to have happy hour first. Bree tells him he’ll be awesome. Remi suggests they have breakfast and she agrees. Inside, Abigail is on the phone to Lacey, saying that the supply run’s important but so is sorting out the surf lessons. Mackenzie asks why she’s not upstairs. Abigail asks for two minutes. Mackenzie says to make it one or she’s out of a job.

At the beach house, Sonny tries to argue that Irene is making the most of the time she has left but Leah and Dana worry that she could get into trouble or get taken advantage of or get lost, and that she won’t have any money left if she uses the sale of the house to pay for it. Dana tells Sonny there’s supporting Irene and there’s being an idiot. Irene comes downstairs and comments on them talking about her behind her back in her own house, shooing them out so she can plan the trip.

At the Lyrik house, Eden is running around telling everyone to get ready. She wonders when she last performed live. Cash suggests their engagement party but Eden says she means a proper gig and that it’s been a century, worrying she’ll forget the music and lyrics. Cash gives her a reassuring hug. After a pause, Bree tells Remi he’ll be brilliant too, which he largely ignores.

Mackenzie is doing setting up at Salt and Abigail wonders if it’s the IVF or the gig that’s making her ill. Justin turns up and says Theo’s told him about Abigail firing him. Abigail explains how she and Lacey thought he would never go himself. Justin thanks her. Abigail insists she and Lacey are on top of things at the board shop but Justin and Mackenzie aren’t convinced.

Eden checks the equipment and asks an opinion on her outfit (a vague rock chick look). She gets Cash to help her carry the things out to the car. Bree asks Remi if he has stage fright. Remi says it’s not that; he’s worried that Bree thinks this will help them but it might do the exact opposite.

Leah, Dana and Sonny arrive at the Diner. Leah and Dana both think Irene’s plan makes no sense. Sonny says Irene’s allowed to make her own decisions about the future. Dana tells him to stop talking. Alf comes in during the argument and Leah tells him Irene’s decided to sell up and go travelling. Alf wonders where she’d get an idea like that from. Sonny awkwardly raises his hand, prompting Dana to walk out. Sonny follows her, trying to get her to talk to him. Dana says Sonny planted an incredibly dangerous idea in Irene’s head and she’s not capable of this. Sonny thinks Irene’s living her best life. Dana thinks being in a foreign place around strangers isn’t that. She snaps that life isn’t about flying kites and to grow up.

Cash carries Eden’s thing into the surf club, saying he’s checked seven times that they haven’t left anything in the van but will check again. Remi and Bree follow them in. Bree thinks it will be fine if Remi doesn’t play one of Avalon’s song. Eden calls to him from the stairs. Meanwhile, Alf and Leah are waiting at the Diner. Irene arrives, having got a message from Alf, and instantly realises what’s going on, refusing to sit down. Alf suggests that travelling at their time of life is risky even if you’re not crook and they both suggest financing it with the house sale means she won’t have the money when she needs it. Irene says to either get behind her or get out of her way.

Remi and Eden are setting up on the stage. Cash joins Bree at the bar and suggests they get some fresh air. Mackenzie finds Abigail in the store room, on the phone to someone trying to arrange a surf instructor. Mackenzie asks what’s going on and Abigail explains about the earlier accounting issues and the fact that she’s now having to cancel the surf lessons and refund the money. Mackenzie tells her to call Mali and tell him. Abigail writes a text to Mali saying to call her asap but deletes it without sending it.

Out on the balcony, Bree has explained to Cash that the gig was her idea. They agree that Lyrik ending was a shock to both Remi and Eden. Bree thinks that might be why Remi cheated. Cash says it’s not on her but Bree wants him to separate that from music and is hoping that when he gets a guitar in his hand she’ll see the man she fell in love with.

Eden makes an address to the crowd, noting it’s been a hot minute since she and Remi played but telling them to enjoy. They start playing, with Eden singing. Cash and Bree watch from the bar, with Bree still seeming a bit uncertain. Meanwhile, Sonny surprises Dana at a park bench with a rather pathetic wild flower (which she calls a weed) as a peace offering. Dana apologises for the low blows and admits that the real problem is the mum-shaped hole in her life. She notes that Irene’s the only person who’s ever come close to filling it and she thought she’d have her for longer.

At the beach house, Irene looks over the postcards. Alf and Leah arrive and Irene asks them not to try and talk her out of it again. Alf says they’re just worried about her. Irene understands why they’re worried but says she knows she has to sort through the issues and get safeguarding in place, but wants to see old friends while she can remember them and for them to remember her as she is. At Salt, Eden and Remi are performing Fool’s Gold. Justin arrives and chats to Cash and Bree, wondering if they need a manager. Abigail gets a call from Mali and Mackenzie sends her to take it. Bree and Remi lock eyes and smile.

Out on the balcony, Abigail is surprised to hear that Mali is on his way home. Cash and Eden come out as she leaves, with Eden enthusing about how great it was. Justin also appears and offers to book more gigs for them. Eden suggests talking it over with Remi. Cash says he and Bree left already. At the Lyrik house, Remi and Bree slowly approach each other before kissing passionately.
