Extended Summary

Leah arrives at the garage with a coffee for Theo, noting he left early. She wonders if he’s avoiding Sonny. Theo says he just wanted to make a start on the car before work, talking about fitting it with twin turbos and new extractors and giving it a paint job. Leah wonders what he plans to do with it when it’s finished and Theo says he’ll think of something.

At the Lyrik house, Kirby demonstrates one of her new songs to Justin, who says it’s great. Kirby insists it needs to be perfect. Remi and Bree come in, having heard about Kirby getting the songs back. Justin initially tries to give credit to Remi, then points out it was his negotiations and suggests Forrest respects him as an equal. Remi and Bree head off to breakfast while Kirby wants to keep working on the song.

Bree and Remi walk through a park area. Bree picks up on the conversation from last night about Sonny, saying he’s one of Remi’s oldest friends and they had fun together. Remi is still upset about Sonny making a move on Bree. Bree says it feels like she’s come between him and his friend and advises him to hear Sonny out.

At the Diner, Marilyn attempts to take Sonny’s breakfast before Irene has finished making it. She admits she still isn’t sleeping because she’s worried about Roo, who insists everything’s fine at home. They serve Sonny, who flirts with them. Leah arrives and Sonny suggests he pay his way. Leah says he’s part of the family but wonders how things are between him and Theo. Sonny gets a text from Remi asking to meet up.

Kirby is continuing to perform for an appreciative Justin and asks him to be a cynical over-opinionated manager. Justin thinks they should book the studio to start recording, saying creatives work better with a deadline. Kirby admits that not many people get a second chance and she doesn’t want to mess this one up. Justin says she’s doing it her way this time. Kirby agrees to him booking the studio before they both head off to work.

At Salt, Sonny is on the phone to someone saying he’ll get his mechanic to set up a test drive. Remi turns up and Sonny greets him in a rather cocky manner. Remi says he appreciates the money but it doesn’t change anything and asks why he made a move on Bree. Sonny admits he wanted to take something away from Remi. Remi wonders where he’s getting the money from. Sonny asks if he thinks he robbed a bank and says screw him.

Sonny goes to the garage where Theo thinks he’s there to lecture him about racing. Sonny says he’s found a buyer for the car. Theo says he’s not interested in selling and will have the car ready to race next week, adding that Sonny could make money if he comes in with him and asking how he’ll pay Remi back otherwise. Justin observes the interaction and wonders if something’s going on.

Outside the surf club, Remi is filling Kirby and Bree in on his chat with Sonny. Kirby doesn’t think Sonny would be involved in anything sketchy and Bree agrees Remi should have given him the benefit of the doubt. Remi admits he could have handled it better. Remi and Bree leave and Kirby is approached by Gage who says he’s looking for a mechanic called Theo. Kirby tells him he works at Summer Bay Auto.

Justin questions Theo about what he walked in on. Theo initially tries to claim he’s stuck between Remi and Sonny before eventually saying Sonny is trying to get him to sell the car. Justin suggests it’s not a bad idea since he could pay off his loan. Theo gets a text from Lacey and leaves. At the Diner, Marilyn is finishing off a phone chat with Jett. Irene asks how he is and Marilyn says he’s fine. Irene thinks that means John will be back soon and Marilyn awkwardly says she’s not sure. Leah rescues Marilyn by calling her over; neither of them are happy about having to cover the fact that John’s staying away to help Irene’s recovery but Leah thinks it’s John’s mess to clean up.

Theo meets Lacey at Salt, where she says she’s looking for a drinking buddy. She notes she’s been thinking about him and he made quite the impression. She quietly says her boyfriend isn’t happy with him, before clarifying that he doesn’t know about them but doesn’t like that she said he could race in his own car. She offers him some tips to win Gage over, suggesting they go somewhere and adding that Gage isn’t invited.

Gage turns up at the garage and tells Justin he’s looking for Theo and Sonny. Justin explains that Theo’s on his break and Sonny doesn’t work there. He notices Gage’s Blood and Sand tatto. Gage says he’ll sort it with them. Meanwhile, Sonny is walking through a car park area and is horrified to see Theo and Lacey kissing in a car. He notices Kirby walking on the other side of the bushes to them and hurries over, making small talk and offering to shout her lunch. As he leads her away, Theo’s car drives off.

Justin goes to the Diner and tells Leah that a River Boy turned up looking for Theo and Sonny. He wonders if that explains the weirdness if Sonny’s hanging out with them and they resolve to look for Theo. Nearby, Irene asks Marilyn how Jett is and suggests she go and see him since she’s not sleeping at her place anyway. Marilyn admits that Jett’s not ill and John went away because he thought it would help Irene. Irene isn’t pleased.

Remi and Bree are walking through a park area with Remi noting everyone thinks he’s not being fair to Sonny. He admits he’s made mistakes in the past. Bree suggests he spent the night at hers. Justin appears and tells them that a River Boy was looking for Theo and Sonny. He and Remi worry that Sonny’s mixed up with them. Remi heads off to look for him while Bree advises treating him as innocent until proven guilty.

Up in Salt, Kirby asks Sonny if he can afford to buy her lunch. Sonny says he’s been using his tools to do odd jobs with Theo. Kirby wonders why he hasn’t told Remi that and Sonny says Remi’s determined to think the worst of him. Kirby rushes off to work as Remi turns up. He tells Sonny about the River Boy looking for him and warns him not to get Theo into trouble.

Irene is on the beach and leaves a voicemail for John, saying she knows what he did and wants him to come back because she misses him. Meanwhile, Sonny is telling Theo about Justin and Remi looking for him. Gage and Lacey turn up and Theo says he messaged him. Gage looks over the car and tells Theo he can race but it’ll have to be in Gage’s car. Theo says no deal. Gage says they have a problem in that case.
