Extended Summary

Kirby is finishing off a class on the beach. Nearby, Remi greets Bree after a surf. He comments on her having the flat to herself for the first time tonight and she says she’s looking forward to some me-time. They kiss before Kirby interrupts and asks if they’re free for a coffee. She’s worried about the lack of response from Forrest. Remi says he’ll check in with Justin.

At Salt, Eliza continues to rail against Roo. Tane appears and joins Harper and Abigail in trying to calm things down. He is shocked to hear she had a knife. Roo asks about the bandage and Eliza says it was Scott’s, which also concerns Tane. Ignoring everyone else, Eliza tells Roo she’ll never trust her again and storms out. Roo goes after her. Harper tries to go too but Tane stops her.

Roo follows Eliza outside. Eliza thinks Roo is trying to get rid of her and says she promised not to go behind her back again. She walks off while Mali checks on Roo. Inside, Tane tries to get Harper to leave it to Roo. Harper says she promised to help. Tane says Eliza has issues and is dangerous. Harper says helping people like that is her job and why Tane set up the programme. Tane and a newly-arrived Mali check on her as she winces but she says it’s just the baby kicking. She agrees to Tane taking her home but says she’ll check in with Roo later.

At the Lyrik house, Remi asks Bree if she wants him to drop off some takeaway. Bree acknowledges she’s never lived alone before but is keen to give it a try. They kiss but are interrupted by Justin, who says Forrest has got back to him and is willing to sell the songs and is waiting for an offer. Bree leaves them to talk it over. Remi is happy to pay whatever Forrest wants but they conclude that if they over-offer they look like amateurs and if they under-offer they look like time-wasters. Remi says it’s Justin’s call.

Roo finds Eliza leaving the house with the box and her bags packed, saying she’s left her clothes and the phone. Roo asks her to explain what’s in the box so she doesn’t worry. Unpacking it, Eliza says a ring was her gran’s and the feather was picked up on a walk. Roo asks about the photo and Eliza says it’s her parents, the first people to let her down. She says she kept the bandage to remind her not to lose her temper and the lighter was her gran’s, who was a smoker. Roo asks about the knife and Eliza says Alf was like a real grandad to her and she wanted to remember that. Roo says she’s sorry.

Outside the surf club, Abigail chats to Mali about how intense things were with Eliza and how they feel sorry for Roo having to deal with it. Abigail moves on as Tane appears, telling Mali he thought the incident would have put Harper off but she’s still determined to help Roo. He thinks she should be taking it easy with the baby on the way.

At the caravan park house, Roo is telling Harper that she’s worried she messed up. Harper still offers to talk to Eliza. Eliza comes down and thinks Harper is there because Roo wants to get rid of her. Harper insists she’s there to help Eliza settle in and suggests they go for a walk. On learning Roo won’t be coming, Eliza agrees. She walks out without looking at Roo.

On the balcony at Salt, Kirby nervously checks her phone. Bree tries to reassure her that Justin and Remi are handling it. Kirby worries that she’s really close to having a music career and Forrest could stop it. Bree suggess they celebrate tonight but Kirby says they’ll do that if she gets the songs back. Meanwhile, Justin ad Remi are walking through a park area. Justin worries at the lack of response from Forrest. Bree comes along and learns it’s not sorted yet. She admits she told Kirby, causing them to worry that she’s freaking out. Bree heads off to sit in her empty apartment.

Harper has taken Eliza to Salt and assures Abigail she can handle it as she gets them drinks. Eliza tries to ask Harper about the caesarean but Harper wants to talk to her first. She asks why she took the ultrasound photo. Eliza says she always wanted a brother or sister so she wouldn’t be alone. She says she didn’t get on with anybody at her foster homes but denies being lonely. Harper tells her about having a boy and lets her feel the baby kicking. Tane comes in and sits down with them.

Downstairs, Abigail suggests to Mali that they walk home together. She pointedly notes his wedding invite mentions a plus one. Mali says he was thinking of taking his mum or his sister. Abigail wonders if they even know Tane and Harper before realising he’s teasing her. Mali invites her to go with him and she accepts.

Harper has taken Tane aside, saying he was wrong to interupt them. Tane refuses to leave her alone with Eliza. Eliza says she’s going and suggests she and Harper talk later. She says goodbye to the baby boy as she leaves. Tane is stunned that Harper told her they were having a boy. Harper says Eliza needs someone to trust her. Tane asks her to prioritise her safety and Archie’s.

Later, Roo is talking to Harper on the phone outside the house, saying she understands and to send her details of counselling. Eliza arrives and says she got to feel the baby kick. Roo asks her to be honest with Alf about taking the knife and apologise when he gets home. Eliza agrees and asks if she can take the toy round to Harper. Roo says Harper isn’t sure when she can see her again. Eliza says she understands. She takes the teddy out into the caravan park and puts it in a drum, then uses the lighter to set fire to a piece of paper and drops it onto the teddy. The teddy catches light and Eliza looks on dispassionately.

Kirby is nervous, tapping a table, getting up and down and checking her phone. Justin and Remi arrive and admit they haven’t got any news and Kirby goes to walk off the nervous energy. Later, Kirby is nervously playing her keyboard. She gets a call from Justin and is annoyed he wants to tell her in person. Bree turns up with champagne and Kirby worries it’s bad news otherwise Justin would just tell her. She calls for Remi and tells him and Bree to enjoy the champagne. Bree admits being alone wasn’t that much fun. As Kirby’s leaving, she notices an envelope addressed to Remi pushed under the door and gives it to him. Remi finds $500 inside with a note saying “More to come. Sonny.” He notes Sonny’s never paid back a debt in his life.

Kirby arrives at Salt and joins Justin on the balcony, telling him to put her out of her misery. Justin tells her that Forrest has agreed to the deal. Kirby is delighted and hugs him, before saying he needs to buy champagne to celebrate. Justin agrees but says tomorrow they start work. Back at the house, Remi wonders where Sonny got the money from when he doesn’t have a job. Bree wonders if he thinks Sonny did something dodgy to get it. Remi says he never has before but then he’s never tried to kiss his girlfriend before. Bree wonders if there’s any chance of Remi forgiving him.
