Extended Summary
Justin and Leah have just finished a horse ride at the resort. Justin jovially complains that his horse kept trying to throw him. Leah says his horse was cute and he shouldn’t have pretended he could ride. She suggests a couples’ massage to get over the soreness. Justin cautiously says the golf, the hot air balloon ride and the winery tour were all great, but it’s their last night and they haven’t talked yet. Leah says they’re reminding themselves how good they are together and Justin accepts it.
At the farm house, Mali notices Abigail isn’t dressed yet and says he has to get going. Abigail says she’s struggling with her counselling homework. She has done profiles on her parents and Levi but is struggling with Eden. Mali reminds her that only she and her counsellor will see it so she should be honest. Eden arrives, at first claiming she was driving past, then admitting she made the trip specially, offering Abby a lift. Abigail says Mali’s taking her and Mali says he’s leaving now. Abigail rushes to get ready. Eden convinces Mali to go, saying she’s tried giving Abigail space and it hasn’t worked.
Mali arrives at the surf club where Kirby has got things ready for the class. Kirby asks him about the marketing campaign, saying they have to find out what Manta Ray Boards means. Mali says it means they make boards. Kirby has set up a mind board to work it out. Abigail arrives with Eden and ignores Eden’s offer of a coffee before work. After Mali has gone, Kirby asks Abigail what the shop means to her and she says it’s a new beginning and a chance to break free of her past.
Up in Salt, Dana is complaining to Xander about Harper cutting her out. Eden agrees that sisters are the worst but doesn’t elaborate. Dana says Tane will be there for the child but not necessarily for Harper and says she imagined being there for the birth, holding the baby and hearing its first cry and now it looks like Tane will do that. Xander says she can do that with their babies. Dana looks shocked and quickly decides she has to get to the shops before they close.
Mali returns and finds Abigail hard at work at her journal. Eden appears with some coffees, saying she’s brought one for Abigail, but Abigail says she has to help Mali and heads out. Left alone with the journal, Eden looks at it and finds the page on herself which is full of words like domineering, thoughtless and controlling. Abigail returns with a box and sees what she’s doing, snatching the journal back. Eden chases her down to the beach, saying Levi told her she felt abandoned and tearfully saying she’d never purposefully hurt her. Abigail points out she just read her journal and tells her to go away.
Leah and Justin are relaxing outside the resort, having changed into robes. Leah gets a text that the massage therapist is sick and the session’s cancelled. She admits she’s sore as well. Justin recalls the heated pool is good for sore muscles but they don’t have swimmers. He points out there’s no-one around and leads the way into the pool room, taking off his robe and getting into the pool. Leah follows suit and kisses him. They fail to notice a sign has fallen down warning of CCTV in the area.
Outside the surf club, Mali and Kirby are clearing up. Mali is worried that Abby hasn’t been seen since her fight with Eden. Kirby tells him what Abigail said about Manta Ray Boards being a fresh start and Mali realises that’s true for him as well. Nearby, Dana meets up with Xander who wasn’t sure she’d turn up. He suggests it was a bit early for them to have a conversation about children which Dana admits freaked her out.
The resort manager is checking in a man and woman, filling them in on all the facilities that are available. The male guest is amused to see the live footage of Justin and Leah in the pool. The manager is flustered and calls someone called Byron saying there’s a code seven. Leah and Justin hear a voice over a tannoy saying there is a no-nudity policy in common areas and then, less vaguely, telling them to get out of the pool. They nervously look around and see the camera.
On the balcony at Salt, Dana explains to Xander how she and Harper used to wait days for their parents to come home with food while they were on a bender. She says Harper helped her when she went the same way and she’s worried about putting a child through what she went through. Xander says he knows now his dad had issues but he was always good with him, and he can see himself being a dad one day.
In the main restaurant, Abigail approaches Eden, saying she was invisible: Even when Eden wasn’t away with the band, she didn’t allow her an opinion, forcing her to hate their dad because she did. Eden asks what she can do to fix it, deciding they should see her counsellor. Abigail protests Tim is her counsellor but Eden says he can sort it and decides she’ll come to the session tomorrow.
Justin and Leah are in the resort office. Justin is apologetic but Leah says she hasn’t had this much fun in ages, recalling when they were sneaking around behind his family’s back. Justin worries they’ll be kicked out. The manager comes in, saying the resort has a reputation to maintain and they were caught on camera. Seeing from his name tag that he’s called Jarvis (which he explains is pronounced Yarvis), Leah asks where the sign was saying they were being recorded, pointing out it’s an invasion of privacy otherwise.
Next morning, at the surf club, Kirby and Mali are looking over pictures of models that the agency has sent them. Mali isn’t impressed, wondering if any of them actually surf. He suggests that Kirby does it, pointing out that it would be real and that she did publicity shots for her solo career. Kirby is reluctant but agrees to think about it.
Outside, Dana meets up with Xander. He notes that although they have different ideas about the future, they’re a long way off that and he likes having her in his life. He gives her the keys to his place. Eden wanders up and sees them hugging. Cash comes up from the beach and tells her that he’s been transferred from Mangrove River to a rural posting, meaning he’s moving away.
Justin and Leah are still in bed at the resort but have to check out in an hour. There’s a knock at the door and they put on robes over their bed clothes to answer it. A nervous Jarvis offers them a complimentary breakfast and says the sign is back in place now. He wonders if they’re happy with the resolution and Leah suggests a late checkout. Jarvis retreats, saying they can stay all day if they like.
Eden has just got home when her phone rings with a call from Tim, telling her that Abigail has cancelled the session. She promises that Abigail will be there even if she has to drag her there herself.
