Extended Summary
Marilyn approaches John near the surf club, saying Alf got her to leave some papers on his desk. Remi and Bree come up from the beach with Bree saying she should have had more time to prepare and they’re trying to set her up. She and Marilyn glare at each other for a moment before Remi ushers her away. John asks what that was about and Marilyn says Bree nearly killed Alf and has to face the consequences.
In the car outside the counsellor’s, Abigail tries to convince Eden to take her home but Eden is unmoved, casually saying that they’ve come all this way and the counsellor’s waiting. She begins tapping the steering wheel in an increasingly aggravating manner as Tim watches from a distance. Abigail cracks first, saying she’d rather talk to a stranger than be with her, and storms off towards the building.
At the Diner, Kirby is telling Mali he only posts pictures of the beach and boards on social media. Mali says he’s busy with actual work. Kirby offers to take over, saying she’ll give him a proposal. Mali officially places her in charge of marketing. Marilyn comes in, briefly greeting them, before going over to Dana at the counter and asking her about hospital tribunals. She worries the hospital won’t criticise their own doctor. Dana assures her tribunals are thorough and strict.
At the Lyrik house, Bree insists to Remi that everyone wants her to fail and Marilyn wants her to lose her job. Remi tells her she can do this. Bree decides to go in early, claiming she’s going to go over her statement. She brushes aside Remi’s opinion and also Kirby, who arrives as she’s leaving. Kirby wonders what’s with her.
Abigail is walking around the room as Tim sits still. She plays with one of his stress relief toys. Tim asks her about her first experience of drugs. Abigail says someone offered it to her at a party and her friends were doing it so it just sort of happened. Tim asks how many times she’s told that story and asks her to be honest. He wonders why she’s there and she says she never wants to touch drugs again. Tim says that’s a start.
Remi has filled Kirby in on what’s going on, saying Bree insists she had everything under control but he’s not sure he believes her given how Levi and Marilyn are acting. He recalls how Bree’s been obsessively cleaning lately. Kirby recalls how Bree was after Remi’s accident, being paranoid about germs and stopping her and Eden from visiting him, and wonders if it’s a pattern.
Remi joins Bree at the hospital. Before he can say much, Levi comes out and Bree accuses him of telling lies about her. Levi says he wishes this hadn’t happened. The head of the tribunal, Gisele Kern, appears and invites Bree in. At the surf club, John is chatting to Mali when Kirby appears and asks if Mali’s had a chance to look at the proposal she sent him. She brings it up on the screen and Mali is surprised at how detailed it is, including hiring an ad agency and photographer. John notes it looks pricey before retreating.
Dana sees Levi being a bit flustered with a file and assures him he did the right thing. Levi then gets a call from Eden who assures him that Abigail has gone in and she’s not hearing any screaming. She confirms Abigail had some things to say about her being the one to take her but thinks she was just nervous about the session. Remi approaches Levi, asking for his take on things.
In the tribunal hearing, Bree starts off reading what seems to be a pre-prepared statement about making life and death choices and that she may have put her patient at risk with the delay but only to ensure the correct medication was given. Ignoring her notes, she says Levi swooped in when he shouldn’t have been anywhere near the case and calls him an egotist, bringing up him taking over with Remi. Gisele calls them serious allegations. Bree says they’re as serious as the ones he’s thrown at her.
Tim asks Abigail about thinking something was missing from her life. She admits the drugs helped her forget she was lonely and explains about her parents splitting up, Levi going to live with her dad, and her mum and Eden having other things going on. She asks to talk about something else and Tim calmly agrees. Outside, Eden paces and ends up picking up Abigail’s form and filling some of it in, including giving herself as an emergency contact.
Abigail suggests the time’s up but Tim says they have to discuss her homework first. He hands her a notebook and says he wants her to write a profile on each of her family to give him a clearer idea how she feels about them: It only needs to be basic. Abigail claims that she dropped out of uni to avoid essays and Tim replies that she dropped out because she developed a drug habit.
Back at the hospital, Remi recalls how Levi and Dana warned him about Bree. Levi says the problem is she hasn’t even acknowledged she made a mistake and Dana suggests this might turn it around. Bree joins them, saying it was good to get it all out. She shakes hands with Levi, saying no hard feelings.
Eden is waiting outside as Abigail and Tim come out. Abigail abruptly calls her journal homework and walks off. Tim looks over at the van and wonders what Lyrik is. Eden says it’s ancient history and gives him the form. Tim says Abigail’s made another appointment but not to be surprised if she throws the journal out the window on the way home.
Kirby asks Mali what he thinks about the marketing idea. Mali notes she nearly went an hour without mentioning it. John interjects that sometimes you need to spend money to make money. Mali protests that John never spends money and John says it’s not his money. Mali agrees to Kirby’s idea. Levi and Dana turn up; Mali asks about Abigail’s counselling and Levi says he hasn’t heard the details but is meeting her and Eden upstairs. He then gets a phone call from the hospital that shocks him.
Eden and Abigail approach the surf club. Eden offers to talk about her session. Abigail says she’s still processing and ends up snapping at Eden to back off. At the Lyrik house, Bree tells Remi she wants to celebrate having the stress behind her. Remi suggests they wait to hear back from the tribunal first. Levi turns up, saying he has to face up to the tribunal tomorrow and asking what she told them.
