Extended Summary
Mackenzie is on the balcony at Salt and Levi, holding a bunch of flowers, calls up to her. He worries for a moment that he’s been too quick off the mark but Mackenzie assures him that Salt is all hers now and invites him up. Meanwhile, Cash shows Harper into the Newman household. He suggests she start with the one-night stand. She admits that was when she first realised how much she cared about Tane and she thought at the time that they might make a go of things but he made it clear he wasn’t interested. She insists that she’s fine with the fact he cares about her and the baby.
Levi has joined Mackenzie at Salt and they discuss her being sole owner, Levi gets a call from the hospital saying Bree’s tribunal is tomorrow. The problem is he’s arranged to take Abigail to her counsellor then. Mackenzie offers to take her but Levi doesn’t think that’s necessary. At the Diner, Mali, Kirby and Abigail turn up and Kirby convinces Mali to buy for them all, before saying she has some plans to grow the business. She approaches Marilyn, who has just finished another phone conversation with Alf and is still preoccupied about what could have happened to him. Abigail admits to Mali that Kirby’s all right but still hasn’t spoken to Eden about her issues. Mali tries to reassure her over seeing the counsellor and she says she’s glad Levi’s going to be there.
Eden answers the door to Levi who wonders why she wasn’t answering her phone. She says she was washing her hair. Levi checks Remi and Bree are out, then realises Eden doesn’t know what’s going on and decides that’s probably for the best. He explains about Abigail, and Eden says she’ll take her if Mackenzie gives her time off. Levi says he had to pull strings to get Abigail an appointment with the counsellor, Tim Russell, and warns there’s a danger of her relapsing.
Leah and Justin are talking but not really getting anywhere. Leah gets a text from Theo saying he’s going to stay at his mum’s for a few days and hopes they sort things out. She tries to tell Justin that she trusts him and is sorry she made the comment but Justin says there’s trust issues on both sides. He thanks her for dinner and says they’re not going to sort this out tonight. Leah is frustrated that he’s going back to the motel.
Next morning, Cash runs into Eden outside the surf club and they make awkward chit-chat. Levi and Abigail come along and it’s clear that Abigail isn’t happy about going with Eden. Up in Salt, Cash notices the flowers and wonders if it’s Mackenzie’s birthday before realising they were a congratulations. He quickly leaves. Levi comes in and sets himself down at a table, preparing to go over his notes before the hearing. He is also worried about Abigail and the way she reacted to Eden taking her.
Abigail tries to convince Eden to just give her the van keys and let her drive herself but Eden insists on taking her. Eden suggests this could help Abigail go back to her old life at uni which Abigail takes to mean she wants rid of her. She ends up putting her headphones in and saying she doesn’t want to talk anymore. At the Diner, Leah is telling Marilyn that talking isn’t making things better. Marilyn suggests this is Leah and Justin’s first big problem since they got married. Justin turns up and is annoyed to realise they’re talking about him, suggesting they sort it all out without him.
Cash and Harper are walking in a park area. Cash encourages Harper to tell Tane how she’s feeling so she doesn’t have the stress of hiding it. Harper thinks that’s the worst advice she’s ever been given. Cash asks how she’ll handle seeing Tane with other people. Harper points out he lives across the road from his ex-girlfriend, then realises she never asked why he and Eden broke up.
At Salt, Mali and Kirby come in for coffee. Kirby takes the opportunity to ask Mackenzie if she has any plans for Salt now she’s got the opportunity to reset. Mali calls her subtle and agrees to a meeting at lunchtime. He is surprised to see Levi, since he thought he was taking Abigail to counselling. Levi explains Eden’s taking her. Mali is worried about the idea but doesn’t explain why.
Eden and Abigail arrive outside the large counselling building. Eden tries to question Abigail on her mood. Tim comes out to meet them, guessing one of them is Abigail. Eden introduces herself and says Abby’s a bit nervous. Abigail says she can speak for herself. Tim gives her a form to fill in, saying to leave anything she doesn’t want to answer.
Levi frets to Mackenzie about what Mali said about Eden and Abigail. Mackenzie convinces him to focus on one problem at a time. Nearby, Justin ignores a call from Leah but seems interested in a conversation between Harper and Cash at the next table, with Harper saying that people go all their lives without finding a connection like he and Eden have. After Justin’s gone, Cash says he’ll talk to Eden if she talks to Tane, before concluding they’re both stuck.
Marilyn is finishing off a phone call with Alf and tells Leah he wanted her to sort out some surf club stuff. Nearby, Kirby is telling Mali her plan to launch a social media campaign, asking how much he wants the board shop to grow and how much money he wants to spend. Justin comes rushing in and Leah apologises to him. Justin says they love each other and suggests they go away together for a day or two to sort things out, calling it the honeymoon they never had.
At the surf club, Levi comes downstairs, still trying to get hold of Eden on the phone. Marilyn stops him and tries to get him to reassure her that Bree will be held accountable. Levi says that’s up to the hospital. Marilyn insists what happened to Alf can’t happen to anyone else.
Eden tries to reassure Abigail about talking about herself but Abigail snaps at her and then runs off when Tim comes out. Eden says if Abigail leaves now, she’ll never come back, and Tim agrees to wait. Eden follows Abigail to the car and refuses to drive her home, taking her phone away to stop her calling someone else. She reminds Abigail that she said, when she got away from Dom, that she wanted to change and says she’ll never get another chance.
