Mali turns down his good luck. Cash makes contact with someone special. Harper takes Tane’s heart.
Extended Summary
Harper and Dana are walking on the beach with Harper commenting on being allowed out again. Dana quips that she doesn’t have Tane waiting on her hand and foot now. John pulls up in the buggy and checks on Harper, who mentions having had two days’ bed rest. Dana quietly tells John she wants to do something nice for Harper like a facial in Yabbie Creek.
Tane gets up to find Cash at the laptop and wonders if he even went to bed. Cash says he got a couple of hours. He doesn’t want to tell Tane what he’s working on because he doesn’t want to jinx it but says Tane will be the first to know if it works out.
At the farm house, Mackenzie comments that Mali looks awful. Mali says he’s stressing over what to do with his business and Mackenzie says she is too. Mali isn’t sure about churning out paintings for money or giving up Manta Ray Boards. Mackenzie admits it’s not easy to give up on something you’ve put your heart and soul into but doesn’t think Cash would agree to her buying him out.
Tane tries to give Cash some breakfast. Cash says he thinks he’s found the woman who received Felicity’s heart and lungs: She had a transplant 14 hours after Felicity’s life support was turned off. He shows Tane the letters. Tane says it’s meant to be anonymous and Cash replies that’s to protect people who don’t want to meet. Tane isn’t interested, noting he’s already said his goodbyes to Felicity.
At Salt, Dana tells Xander there’s a place in Yabbie Creek that does pregnancy massages. They quickly stop the conversation when Harper turns up. She gets a text from Tane checking in on her. Dana makes sure Harper isn’t reading too much into that. Harper decides to meet him for lunch. Dana goes over to Xander and says they’re going to make Harper a picnic lunch. Xander offers to get Chef to do something but Dana says it needs to be low key and something Harper can eat. She rings Marilyn at the Diner to ask for a picnic hamper for Tane and Harper. Marilyn is distracted saying goodbye to a customer as Dana says it needs to be low-key, and assures her she knows just what to do.
Cash is finishing a phone conversation with Gary, telling him about the recipient. He tells Tane he’s just told Gary about the letters. Tane says he’s meeting Harper for lunch and Cash says it must be nice to be able to move on so easily. Tane says he wanted to have a baby with Felicity and Cash apologises. At Salt, Dana convinces Xander to collect the hamper from Marilyn and set it up on the beach during his break. Tane turns up, telling Harper he had to get out of the house. Dana tries to convince them not to have lunch at Salt.
Mackenzie and Mali arrive at the surf club. John tells Mackenzie he’s changed Felicity’s name to Cash’s on all the paperwork. Mackenzie admits she’s not sure what she’s doing. John hopes they’re not going to lose out on the rent and, one glare from Alf later, adds that he wouldn’t want to lose her or Salt either. Mali asks to talk to Alf. John is worried about losing the board shop too and Alf tells him to go and put some flags out or do some knitting. Soon after, John goes round to see Cash, who tells him he’s messaged the woman who got Felicity’s heart and lungs and sent him the letters but she hasn’t messaged back. John worries that Cash is going too far but Cash doesn’t think he can stop.
Mali has explained to Alf about Robert’s offer. Alf wonders why he’s unsure about it. Mali says money isn’t everything. Alf wonders if Robert is legit. Mali says his website looks good and he was one of the judges in the competition. Alf suggests if something sounds too good to be true then it often is. Mackenzie appears and thanks Alf for handling John before heading off to see Cash.
At the Diner, Dana thanks Marilyn for her help. Marilyn says she loves playing matchmaker. Dana says it’s strictly platonic. Marilyn admits she may have misunderstood the brief: Instead of a low key lunch for two friends, she gave them the couples special, including rose petals. Dana is horrified. Meanwhile, Tane and Harper find the picnic that Dana has arranged. They are rather bemused to see a love heart label with their names on it and love hearts all over the contents. Harper wonders if it’s Dana’s idea of a joke while Tane just laughs and gets stuck in.
Mackenzie goes round to see Cash. Her mouth runs away with her somewhat as she admits it’s the first time she’s been there since Felicity died and she keeps expecting to see her. Cash is staring intently at his laptop screen, constantly refreshing to see if there’s a reply. Mackenzie tries to talk to him about the options the solicitor gave her but he just tells her to do whatever she wants.
Harper and Tane are continuing to dissect their meal somewhat, bewildered that anyone would ever cut sandwiches into hearts and noting that the water doesn’t have any hearts on it. Tane finds a baby names book inside, which they note is the only useful thing in there. Flicking through, Tane suggests the names Vernon and Drusilla. Harper looks a bit shell-shocked before realising he’s joking. Dana cames running up and apologises, saying there was a misunderstanding. Harper says it’s fine but Dana is worried about the longing look she gives Tane as he walks off.
Mackenzie arrives back at the surf club. She tells Mali that Cash has no interest in Salt, but she can’t sit back and relax about it because she’s worried he’ll flip again. Mali meanwhile has been looking into Robert and found that he seems to be legit. He admits that disappoints him, because if Robert was trying to rip him off that would sort out his problem. Tane comes along and Mackenzie tells him about her experience with Cash.
Back at the house, Cash gets a notification and finds a message from the woman, Michelle, saying she has Eisenmenger syndrome and received her transplant the day Felicity died. She asks if Cash is the one she’s been writing to. Cash says he is and asks if she still wants to meet up. At Salt, Xander tells Dana he didn’t have time to look in the hamper and didn’t notice the label. Dana thinks it’s a disaster. Nearby, Mali tells Mackenzie he’s turned down Robert’s offer, having realised he was looking for ways to say no. Mackenzie says she’s decided she doesn’t want to sell Salt or have a partner, she wants to own it all herself.
Cash finds John in the office and says the woman from the chat room was the right one and wants to meet him as soon as possible. John looks a bit worried as Cash says he can’t wait to meet her.
