Cash gets an unexpected letter. Abigail takes a stand. Mali gets a big break.

Extended Summary

Mackenzie greets Mali outside the surf club, having just got back from the city. She describes her meeting with the solicitor as interesting. Mali tells her he’s meeting Robert, the art gallery guy, later. Mackenzie asks how things are with Abby. Mali thinks they’re going okay, but a moment later Levi and Abigail appear arguing, with Levi saying she shouldn’t have spoken to Cash like that. Abigail storms off and Levi asks Mackenzie and Mali to keep an eye on her while he finds Cash. Not far away, Cash is jogging up from the beach. Levi comes over and Cash says he’s had enough of Fowlers for one day. Levi apologises for Abigail. Cash says she was just looking out for her sister. Levi asks to talk.

Justin and Claudia are still sat outside the garage. Justin says he has to get back to work and offers to give Claudia a ride somewhere. She asks to just sit for a bit and notes that things are tricky with him and his wife too. Despite rejecting a call from Leah at that moment, Justin says it’s not the same thing and he and Claudia don’t have a social arrangement. She leaves awkwardly.

Cash and Levi arrive back at the Newman house. Levi asks if Cash is doing anything other than running and if he’s seeing a counsellor. He admits that Abigail has been recovering from addiction and going through some tough withdrawals and that he and Eden have been supporting her through it.

Up in Salt, Abigail tries to convince Mali to go back to work. Mackenzie arrives with some drinks and Abigail says she doesn’t need babysitters. Mackenzie and Mali both try to make Abigail sympathise with Cash, with Mackenzie asking how Levi would be if he lost her or Eden. Abigail, seemingly ignoring her, wonders where Levi has got to and tries calling him.

Levi doesn’t answer the call but does tell Cash he’s got to get back to her. Cash asks where Dom is now and Levi says he’s probably running his business from that house. Cash is shocked they didn’t report him. Levi says it has to be Abby’s call and Cash says it might help her. After Levi has gone, Cash turns his attention to the post. He finds a large envelope containing another letter from the organ recipient. She thanks him for his letter, promises to honour his loved one and wishes she cold thank him in person.

Mackenzie, Levi and Abigail are sat together in Salt. Abigail rejects Levi’s suggestion of going to the police. She invites Mackenzie to give her opinion. Mackenzie says she agrees with Levi but it’s Abby’s call. Abigail disagrees and walks out. Mackenzie encourages Levi to push her, saying she won’t get anywhere otherwise.

Leah surprises Justin at the garage. He tells her the customer wants their car back today. Leah notices a cardigan draped on a chair; Justin says it was in the car and Leah jokingly considers keeping it. She suggests Justin come home soon, since Theo is out and they’ll have the place to themselves.

Mali is doing his ironing and Mackenzie fills him in on the solicitor: She told her that if Cash doesn’t want to be involved with the business, she could buy him out or sell it and split the profits. She realises Mali is having trouble picking out a shirt, given how many he’s got hanging up, and hands him a multi-coloured striped shirt.

Levi tracks down Abigail on the beach. He wonders why she’s willing to fight for Eden the way she did but she’s not willing to fight for herself. Abigail says it’s because she hates herself for what she’s done. Levi suggests talking to the police might fix that. Meanwhile, Cash turns up at the police station and asks Rose for a favour. He starts to tell her about the letters from the donor recipient but then Levi and Abigail turn up. Cash asks Rose to talk to them first, saying he’ll wait. Abgail apologises to him and tells him she’s taking his advice.

Justin meets Claudia in a park area to return the cardigan to her. Claudia points out he could have just mailed it. Justin feels a bit bad about how he spoke earlier and is happy to carry on driving her about but says this is just a business arrangement and once her arm’s healed it will be over.

Rose finishes taking Abigail’s statement about Dom. She says the local area command will question him. Abigail agrees to identify him if necessary. Rose shows her and Levi out before turning her attention back to Cash. He asks her to help him track down the recipient. Aware another officer is present, Rose takes him into the office. Cash suggests she could pretend she needs the woman’s details for a case and asks her to read the letters.

At Salt, Mali turns up to meet Robert. Mackenzie insists she’s not there to spy on him, she’s waiting for Levi. Despite this, she watches him sit with Robert until Levi and Abigail come up behind her and ask who they’re spying on. They tell her they’ve been to the police. Abigail admits she listened to Mackenzie about Cash, even though she pretended not to.

Rose finishes reading the letters but refuses to go along with Cash, pointing out there are rules in place to stop people meeting. Cash protests that the recipient says she wants to meet him but Rose insists on giving him the letters back and he leaves. Back at Salt, Robert explains he wants to sell Mali’s work through his gallery. He says they’d need at least fifteen pieces for a solo exhibition and he’d have to give up his business and become a full-time artist but he’d earn six figures. He leaves his card, telling Mali to think about it. Mackenzie stops by to check on Mali.

Cash sets himself up with a tray and his laptop. He does a search and every result he finds says that contact has to be anonymous. After some time however, he stumbles across a site where organ recipients are sharing their stories.
