Extended Summary

Justin and Theo are preparing to go for a surf. Justin checks Theo is okay to work at the garage later. Theo says he can, although he does have homework to do. He turns down Justin’s offer of a day off. Meanwhile, Mali chases after Eden and says he’s not the enemy. Eden says he covered for Levi. Mali says he didn’t approve but Mac’s a mate. Eden says he’s chosen his side and not to follow her.

At the Diner, Leah checks with Irene that it’s okay to pop out at lunchtime: She and Justin have a “book-keeping for massage” deal going. Nearby, John continues to wax lyrical to Xander and Dana, saying he seems to have developed a sixth sense as he’s got older. Dana, confused, asks if he sees dead people. John says he’s a conduit for love and Xander says he’s lost his appetite. Irene gets John’s attention by offering free food, allowing the pair to slip out.

Xander and Dana head up to the flat where Dana notes she now has to do a life-saving shift with John. She grabs her uniform and goes into the bathroom to change, with them talking through the door. They note they haven’t had a proper date yet and wonder if it’s weird. Dana suggests getting caught in a rip to avoid questions and says there is no “us” yet. Xander asks if that’s true and wonders how she feels. Emerging, Dana tries to turn the question back to him before saying she has to go. Xander pulls her back for a lengthy goodbye kiss.

At the farm house, Mackenzie brings Levi some food but jokingly says not to get used to it. Levi takes it seriously however and says he’ll make dinner. Mackenzie notes he’s been there nearly a week. Mali comes home early and says he has orders in so has to check with his suppliers. He comments on Eden ripping his head off.

At the garage, Theo has finished an oil change and Justin suggests he get on with his homework, noting it seems wrong for Theo to be set work so near to his final exam. Theo opens up his textbook and it’s clear he’s not doing TAFE work as he’s let Justin believe: Inside is a worksheet about discussing mental health with loved ones. He starts writing a letter to Justin and Leah.

Mackenzie tells Mali he didn’t need to make Levi feel bad by bringing up Eden. Mali says Eden only had a go because he kept things secret. Levi comes in and tells them not to argue because it’s his mess. Mali agrees and suggests he fix it. Levi says he would but Eden won’t talk to him. Meanwhile, John and Dana are down on the beach and Dana suggests putting dangerous undercurrent flags out. She warns him not to ask her about Xander. John says she usually talks about anything. Dana says she had feelings for Xander long before the mock wedding. John wonders if they are actually officially boyfriend and girlfriend.

Leah leaves the Diner for the garage. Xander turns up, noting he didn’t get to finish his last coffee because of John’s questioning. Irene offers him one on the house. Irene comments on the fact he and Dana haven’t been on a date. Xander says she’s as bad as John and Irene asks whether he wants the coffee in a cup or on his head.

Eden is on the phone to Cash, saying she’ll probably relax at home. Mackenzie turns up and tries to get Eden to stop hating Levi, saying he’s going through a tough time. Eden says Imogen is as well. Mackenzie says marriage break-ups are hard on everyone and Eden’s making it about herself. Eden closes the door in her face mid-sentence.

Mali throws away an empty milk cartoon. Levi offers to call Mackenzie to get more and Mali says there’s another in the fridge. Levi says he knows Mali doesn’t like him but they need to find a way to make this work because they both care about Mackenzie. Later, they are chatting in a friendly manner about Mali’s new orders since Stevie advertised him. Mackenzie turns up and is surprised that they’re now acting like best mates. Eden suddenly starts hammering on the door wanting to see Levi. Mackenzie admits she spoke to her and Eden calls out that she can hear him. Levi sends Mackenzie and Mali away while he deals with it. He lets Eden in and she reminds him he told her to do her own dirty work. Levi asks if she’s done before saying he’s not.

Theo has written and crossed out the opening line of his letter four times. Leah turns up to deliver the books and lunch. Justin quietly talks to her about Theo’s mood since he started his homework but thinks lunch might cheer him up. Later, Justin and Leah are eating while Theo continues to try and do his work. Leah goes over and says she’s good at proof-reading and Justin could help with any technical stuff. Theo declines and asks to use the office.

Levi tells Eden that she can’t just keep turning up and having a go at him: He’s chosen Mackenzie and she has to accept that. Eden says that an ultimatum isn’t going to make her change her mind and she’ll never forgive him. Levi says that’s on her. Eden tearfully says he’s dead to her. Meanwhile, Dana is being greeted by Xander at the door of the Diner flat. She comes in to find he has covered up the windows and set up fairy lights, a place to sit and a makeshift screen, suggesting they watch movies and have drinks and later a chef will bring them food. He asks how she feels. Dana notes he asked that before and says she likes it. Xander says he does too, heaps.

Mackenzie and Mali are eating at Salt. Mackenzie is slightly worried that she hasn’t heard from Levi and wonders what she was thinking going round to Eden. She thanks Mali for making an effort with Levi and admits it’s strange to be living with someone so soon but Levi has nowhere else to go. Mali advises her to talk to him.

At the garage, Justin comes into the office and offers Theo some help. Theo reminds him it didn’t go so well last time he tried that. Justin suggests Theo start on a service while thinking about it. After Theo has gone, Justin checks his work and finds the worksheet and the many attempts to start the letter.

Mackenzie arrives home and Levi tells her about him telling Eden to either accept them or leave. He notes that at least being there with her makes it okay. Mackenzie looks awkward and says they need to talk about that.
