Extended Summary

Leah and Justin are walking on the beach, discussing the forthcoming wedding. Leah hopes Theo will be back soon and asks Justin what he’s doing anyway but Justin dodges the question. Alf also approaches them to discuss it. At the Newman house, Stevie thinks she’s heard the phone but Cash tells her it was just the microwave. Stevie is hoping for news about her audition and notes sometimes the producers know straightaway and sometimes they argue about it.

At Salt, Alf chats to Justin about Theo taking off. Justin just hopes he makes it back for the wedding. Alf encourages him to enjoy it anyway. At the Diner, Marilyn tells Leah she just needs to bring herself to the hen night; Irene’s handling the food and Marilyn’s bringing everything else. Marilyn checks on Bree, who is looking for places to rent in the paper. Marilyn protests that Bree already has the best place. Bree says she and Xander have reached the end of being housemates.

Irene gets Dana to put a bottle of wine in the fridge. Dana asks about the rule and Irene says this is an exception since it’s a friend’s special night. She wonders about seeing Harper looking miserable. Dana explains about Tane kidnapping “Maia” after she left them alone. Irene says whatever Tane did is on him. Dana reveals “Maia”’s mum has just turned up too.

At the Newman house, Stevie is reciting a line from her audition and asks Cash what he thought of it, suggesting he rehearse it with her. Cash is confident she’ll get the part and discusses protecting her while she’s filming. Stevie gets a text but it’s not about the part: It’s from Crystal’s boyfriend, saying the inquest has finished and the coroner’s handing down the findings. Felicity comes home and cheerily asks if she got the part; Cash gets her to tone it down.

Dana is bombarding Tane with texts, saying he’ll have to reply if he wants her to stop. Irene says he won’t answer if he doesn’t want to be found. Marilyn arrives with a large case, despite only staying for one night. As Marilyn is setting things up, Dana gets a text from Tane saying “Maia” is safe and to stop calling him. Dana goes into the bathrom and leaves Tane a voicemail saying she’s not going to stop and to call her.

Leah goes home to get her things and finds Justin coming out of Theo’s room. Leah asks if he was hiding a wedding gift in there and he says he was just looking for a guitar pluck. He had forgotten Leah was spending the night at Irene’s. Leah asks about his bucks night and he says he’s not having one. Leah is surprised, since she thought Theo would arrange something.

Stevie fills Felicity in on her theory that Crystal was pushed off the cliff, saying she’d never have gone close to the edge because she was terrified of heights. She hopes that if it’s ruled murder, then the police will find her stalker. Cash tries to manage her hopes, saying they don’t know any of that. Meanwhile, Dana tells Irene about the text from Tane. Irene insists she has to tell the police. Leah arrives and Irene takes her bag and shows her through to where Marilyn has prepared a pampering session. Dana slips out the back and calls Rose.

Bree approaches Alf outside the surf club, saying she’s been looking for somewhere to live and wondering if any caravans are available. Xander cuts in, saying Bree already has a place to stay and asking to talk. Meanwhile, Marilyn prepares Leah for a pedicure. Irene gets a call and tells them Roo isn’t going to make it and will see them at the wedding, suspecting she’s worried about the baby. Leah is still concerned about Justin’s behaviour and thinks something has gone wrong.

Xander tells Bree she dosn’t have to move out. Bree thinks she made things weird for him and says she knew it was the wrong thing to do as soon as she did it. Xander convinces her to put it behind them. Meanwhile, Stevie is getting more and more stressed about the lack of news. She suggests Cash could find out. Cash initially says he can’t before eventually admitting he has a friend he could call. Felicity tells Stevie she’s sorry about Crystal and loved her in Death Throes. Stevie is hoping this will end soon.

Leah arrives home and calls out for Justin. Getting no answer, she searches the place, eventually finding a folder in the bedroom. She flicks through it and finds a list of who’s going in what car, with a handwritten comment on “The VJ Issue”. Justin appears and asks what she’s doing. Later, Justin tries to get Leah to trust that he has it under control. Leah says she can see that he’s hiding something. Justin says some things are out of his control but it’s nothing she can fix, asking her to go and saying the important thing about tomorrow is getting married.

Cash comes back in and Felicity leaves him and Stevie to it. He tells Stevie that the coroner ruled Crystal’s death as misadventure. Stevie is upset and says that the police will never take her seriously now, meaning she’s stuck jumping at shadows. Later, Stevie emerges from her room with a case. She tells Cash that he and her whole security detail are fired: They’re never going to catch the stalker so she’s just going to live her life for as long as she can. Cash is unable to talk her out of leaving.

Irene is bemused as Marilyn lays out several dresses, explaining she hasn’t decided what to wear tomorrow and doesn’t want to clash with Irene. Leah comes back and tells them what Justin said, saying she’s worried what she read means VJ’s not going to make it to the wedding.
