Extended Summary

Xander and Felicity are serving customers together at Salt. Bree comes in and says she didn’t expect Xander to be working tonight. Xander says he swapped shifts and just gives an awkward laugh when she jokingly wonders if he was avoiding her. She asks for the pizza special and sits down to wait. Xander goes over to Harper, who is working on her laptop and says there’s a lot of boxes to be ticked before the mother’s allowed to take the baby. Xander says they’ll be back together soon.

At the police station, Rose is on the phone to someone confirming that CCTV footage showed Tane taking the baby. Dana tries to argue that he wouldn’t hurt her. Rose says it’s beyond that now, explaining the baby’s mother has come forward. Dana suggests it might not be her. Rose says they have to do a DNA test but it’s looking likely.

At the farm house, Mali offers Mackenzie some food. She is disappointed that she hasn’t heard from Levi and isn’t allowed to call him. She admits she told him to get out but thought he’d reach out before now. Mali suggests it might be for the best since then they can move on. Mackenzie agrees but then texts Levi saying they should talk.

At Salt, Harper gets a call and tells Felicity she needs to pay the bill in a hurry. Felicity tells her she can settle up later. Xander brings Bree the pizza and she points out she didn’t order takeaway but takes it anyway. Felicity asks Xander what’s going on between them and not to say that there’s nothing. Xander tells her about Bree kissing him while drunk.

Mackenzie talks to Levi on the phone, saying she needs to talk and hopes to see him tomorrow. Rose turns up looking for Tane. Mali comes in and congratulates her on the press conference. Rose explains she’s there for work reasons and asks if they’ve any idea where Tane is. She explains that Tane and the baby are both missing and CCTV shows him taking her. She wants to search Tane’s room but Mali blocks her way, saying she needs a warrant. Even when Mackenzie says it’s okay, Mali continues to insist that it’s the law.

At the police station, Dana has given her statement to Officer Reynolds. She finds Harper there, who was filled in by a colleague. Rose comes in and checks Dana didn’t leave anything out of her statement before saying she’s done enough. Harper wonders what that was about and Dana just says she was on shift when it happened. Rose picks up the phone and says she needs to speak to a magistrate.

Next morning, Levi turns up at the farm house and is greeted by Mackenzie. Mali agrees to give them space but moments later Rose turns up as well and reveals she has the search warrant Mali wanted, so he should get out of the way. She leads Reynolds to the bedroom. Down on the beach, Xander and Bree see each other but don’t say anything. Nearby, Dana tells Harper that she feels sick. Harper convinces her to come with her to the police station, saying an update might make her feel better.

Reynolds is searching the drawers in the living area as Rose appears with Tane’s laptop and asks if they know the password. Mackenzie says she doesn’t and Mali doesn’t answer. Rose tells Reynolds to get it to IT. She questions Levi’s presence and he says he was doing a home visit. Mali wonders what they’re even looking for and Rose says Tane’s passport.before asking why he’s making it so hard for her to do her job. Mackenzie sends the latest in a long series of texts to Tane.

Felicity meets up with Bree near the beach and tells her that Xander told her what happened. Bree explains about Remi moving on quickly and how, even though she broke up with him, she didn’t want him to start sleeping with movie stars. Felicity suggests she needs to talk to Xander but Bree says she’s decided to follow Xander’s strategy and avoid him as well.

Rose finishes the search and admits they haven’t found anything except the laptop. Mali calls it a waste of a search warrant. He insists Tane wouldn’t hurt Maia and Rose reminds him that it’s kidnapping. Rose and Reynolds leave and Mackenzie tries to tell Mali she’s just doing her job but Mali says she’s treating their friend like dirt. Levi tries to console Mackenzie.

Harper and Dana are waiting at the police station when Rose comes back. Rose says the baby’s mother has completed her mental health assessment and is on her way there meaning she has to tell her that the baby’s gone because of Dana’s negligence. Harper tries to defend Dana but Rose says Dana has been unprofessional throughout: Oversharing with a journalist, giving Tane health updates and now letting Tane into the hospital when he was under AVO. Harper tries to argue that she couldn’t have stopped him. The argument is interrupted by a woman who introduces herself as Sonia Rickard and says she’s there for her baby.

On the balcony at Salt, Xander tells Dana that she didn’t know what Tane would do and he shouldn’t have put her in that position. Dana thanks him. Felicity grabs Xander and, with an uncomfortable Dana listening in, tells him that she’s spoken to Bree and Xander needs to forgive her and move on. At the farm house, Mackenzie tells Levi that she hopes Mali calms down and Tane is all right. She apologises for meeting with Imogen and Levi apologises for the way he reacted. Mackenzie admits that it feels like Imogen has Levi all the time. Levi insists that Mackenzie’s who he wants to be with.

Rose and Harper speak with Sonia who says that she hates the media calling her daughter Maia when her name’s Poppy, confirming she was the one that left the bracelet. She says what Rose said at the press conference stopped her thinking Poppy was better off without her. Harper asks her about abandoning Poppy. Sonia admits to not eating or sleeping and thought she was messing up. They ask about a partner, friends and family. Sonia says Poppy’s father took off when she was five months pregnant and she moved from Perth for work, so everyone she knows is on the other side of the country. She says she wants to try, before asking to see Poppy. After an awkward pause, Rose says she’ll have to wait until they confirm that she’s a DNA match.

Bree turns up at Salt and asks Felicity if she can see Xander’s roster. Felicity realises it’s so she can avoid him and insists they’re housemates and friends and need to sort this out. Bree says she’ll talk to Xander next time she sees him. Felicity says he’s on the balcony now. Bree goes through and tells Xander there’s more important things than them…so she’s moving out. She leaves and Xander tells Felicity what happened. Felicity is aghast.

Dana is trying to text Tane when Harper comes home and tells her that Rose is hoping to find Tane before the DNA match comes in. Dana tries to thank her for having her back but Harper says Dana lied to her and asks what she was thinking. She says it wouldn’t be so bad if it was just one stuff-up but she’s getting tired of cleaning up Dana’s messes.
