Bree gives Remi an ultimatum. Cash throws a wrench in Felicity’s plans.

Extended Summary

Remi and Bree are walking on the beach: She feels he’s improved, although he feels he’s walking like he’s a hundred.John comes along in his buggy and compliments Remi on his progress. Remi says he’ll soon be back busking and John says there’s no rush. After he’s gone on, Bree jokingly challenges Remi to a race.

Cash arrives home and tells Felicity that the day shift wasn’t any better: No action, no lost kids, no skate-boarding teenagers and he’s not sure he can last another day without catching a shoplifting. He realises Felicity is focused on her laptop instead of listening to him. With a bit of pushing, she admits she’s researching how to become a foster parent.

Justin and Kirby are looking over the repaired bike. Remi and Bree appear and the pair show it off to them. Remi is delighted while Bree seems to be trying her best not to look horrified as Justin hands over the key. At the Diner, Irene and Marilyn discuss Leah and Justin’s wedding plans. John turns up and they tell him the wedding’s back on. John says they need a good old-fashioned wedding since Tane and Felicity’s went south. Irene says Leah’s back in the clinic and John asks what clinic. Realising she’s put her foot in it, Irene admits Leah was in a mental health clinic when she was out of town before and says they’re treating it as a good thing that she’s taking care of herself.

Felicity tells Cash about seeing Tane with the baby and how he’s not eligible to foster. She wonders how Gary got to foster them. Cash says it was a different time and a small town but Felicity points out he must have had to formally apply. Cash hopes she’s asking on Tane’s behalf and Felicity says she’s investigating options. Meanwhile, at the Lyrik house, Bree stands apart as Remi thanks Justin and Kirby. Justin leaves and Remi continues to thank Kirby, who says she thought it was the best way to get him literally back on the bike. Bree leaves without saying anything.

Remi follows Bree outside. Bree is aghast that Remi is thinking about getting back on the bike. Remi says Justin and Kirby did something nice for him. Bree says Remi nearly died and continues to express horror at the idea of him riding again. Later, after night has fallen, Remi apologises to Bree for not thinking about her feelings but Bree doesn’t think that’s the point. Kirby comes along and asks if they want dinner. Remi declines and goes back inside. Kirby tries to apologise to Bree who is furious that she brought the bike back there.

Felicity gets off the phone from Gary. Cash checks she didn’t tell him about him quitting the force. Felicity says she’s not going to drop that bombshell but Gary did ask him to call more. She says Cash was right: It was a small town, no-one else was volunteering to take them on, Gary was a cop and they knew him. Cash worries that Felicity is planning to apply to be a foster parent herself. Felicity thinks that’s just a technicality and it’s only until Tane gets his residency sorted. Cash says the baby would be her responsibility and asks her to sleep on it.

Next morning, Justin and Kirby have just finished a surf. John comes along and offers Justin his congratulations on the wedding being back on. He starts to ask when Leah’s back, then is distracted by someone further up the beach and carries on. Justin asks Kirby how Remi’s feeling about getting the bike back. Kirby admits Bree was furious. She says she always thought Remi would ride again but that bike nearly killed him and she’s delivered it back to him with a bow on top.

Remi is idling strumming his guitar. Bree brings him a hot drink as a peace offering. She suggests that there’s no rush since Remi isn’t ready to go back on the bike yet so they can deal with it in a few months. She points out they both skipped dinner so goes to get some takeaway. Later, Remi goes out the front and, despite clearly being in some pain and discomfort, gets on the bike and starts the engine. He then notices Bree has returned with the takeaway and is looking at him.

Cash gets up to find Felicity filling in an online application form and asking him to be her next of kin. He protests that they were meant to be sleeping on it and Felicity says she has and she’s decided. Cash reminds her that her marriage ended because she didn’t want children and this isn’t the way to save it, closing the laptop. Felicity storms off, saying it’s none of his business.

When Felicity emerges later, she insists that she’s not doing this to save her marriage: She hurt Tane and this is a way of making it up to him. Cash says he’d back her if she really wanted it but it has to be for the right reasons. He asks what would happen if she was offered another child that Tane didn’t know. Felicity admits she’d turn them down.

Irene serves Kirby at the coffee cart. Justin comes along and asks if she heard Theo’s interview where he sounded relaxed. Kirby is preoccupied with the bike. After she’s gone, John comes along and mentions Leah being in the clinic. Irene admits she let it slip. John jokes that he’d be worried if his bride checked herself into a clinic. He tries desperately to backtrack and gets an earful from Irene. Later, John approaches Justin and apologises for putting his foot in it. Irene gives Justin his coffee as he admits that he is worried about Leah and it’s hard organising the wedding on his own.

Bree helps Remi with his painkiller, saying he can’t open the bottle but can get back on the bike. She says even if he’s not ready to ride yet, he’s clearly made his mind up. She says nearly 300 Australians died because of motorcycles last year. Remi retorts that it’s the first time he came off the bike and it wasn’t his fault. Bree walks away. Later, Remi is looking over the bike outside when Bree joins him. She says it only takes coming off once and he’s lucky he wasn’t killed. She makes it clear that if he gets back on the bike then they’re through.
